Chereads / Dear You / Chapter 4 - Last Night Memory

Chapter 4 - Last Night Memory

A gurgling noise resounded in her ears as she exhaled a mouthful of air. She frowned. There was something connected to her mouth. The strings were tied to her ears, holding the thing in place.

She tried to wiggle it out of her mouth but it didn't budge at all and her futile effort only created another row of gurgling noise. She tried to open her eyes but to no avail, they remained shut. She could feel her limbs were tightly bound as well.

Slowly, noises of people talking in the background could be heard. They were talking very loudly, but...

'What are they talking about?'

She couldn't catch a single word from the noise. They sounded like broken gibberish with no way of deciphering.

As she was lost in thought, suddenly, everything became silent. Slowly, the temperature around her seemed to drop lower and lower by the seconds, to the point that it was bone-piercing cold. It seeped to her bones sending acute pain all over her body, pricking her as if a thousand needles jabbing to her skin.

She grimaced but no voice came out. At this point, the pain had made her desperate to move as she pulled her hands and legs. Yet, they were glued in place.

Fear crept into her heart. She was utterly confused of what was going on right now. Where was she? Who were those people? Was she kidnapped?

Tons of question flooded her brain until suddenly, she felt her consciousness being tore layer by layer. She was slowly drifting away. Feeling anxious, she tried to bite her tongue to stay awake. However, before she managed to do it, a voice so familiar echoed in her mind.

"Don't....don't fight it."

"Not yet. It's not the time....to remember..."

The voice was stuttering and very faint, so weak and fragile. Anxiety, hesitation and deep terror were laced in the voice.

It was a young and childish voice.

"H-hide. Remember...hide...."

A sudden pang in her heart as she realized who it was.

It was....her own voice, her younger-self.

Then, her consciousness was completely stolen. She fell into a beautiful long slumber.

------------------

The sun rose higher and higher 'till it hung at its peak, then set a little to the west. It was then, Evelyn eyes finally showed a little movement. They fluttered open and greeted the high ceiling with a chandelier in the middle.

Oddly, there was no trace of hungover. Her mind was blank and her complexion pale while she stared groggily at the ceiling. She blinked her eyes once, twice, thrice, before the focus in her eyes eventually gathered up.

She frowned.

Something was amiss. She was sure of it. Something important. But what was it? She couldn't put her fingers on it. Her mind felt hazy at some point.

She tried to recall something but it just flashed by before she managed to catch it. Evelyn tilted her head. Perhaps it was because she was so wasted yesterday she became a bit slow today?

Last night, as soon as she reached her room, without removing her makeup or changing out of her dress, she slumped onto her bed and snored away. After all the drama, when she finally calmed down, it was then all the exhaustion rushed in. She felt sore all over. Her head pounding and her eyes could barely stay open. It was like she ran out of power and automatically shut down. It had only taken her a second before she entered the dreamland.

As she was trying to piece together all the memories of yesterday, suddenly, her eyebrows scrunched up. She recalled something which set her heart ablazed almost instantly. She smacked her palms onto her face as it turned bright red by the minute.

Oh no...

What did she do? What the HELL did she do?? Fuck, she rode him! Her dominant trait came out just like that. She shouldn't have drunk!

'What was his name again? Zhen? Wei Chen?'

'OH! Wu Chen!'

'Mr. Wu!'

She brought her hands together, praying to whatever God existed on this earth, Evelyn hoped she would never meet him again. Not a chance. It was so embarassing. She was one hundred percent sure he was much older than her and she had pushed him down.

But... she blinked her eyes. He was very handsome. Recalling last night little steamy session with him, Evelyn cheeks involutarily blushed like cherry tomatoes.

That sexy lips and well-built muscles, broad sturdy chest, the way his big hands slithered to her back. His strong arms felt extremely right around her body.

She unconsciously licked her dry lips. Her throat ran dry. She was thirsty.

Thirsty? ....more like horny.

To that realization, Evelyn smacked her face with a pillow. The heat was burning within her. She felt suffocated.

'Stop Evelyn! For goodness sake, STOP!' she screamed in her head.

Really, she shouldn't have taken that drink he bought her. It had passed her limit.

Everyone had their own habit when they were drunk and ladies and gentleman, this was how Evelyn when she became drunk. Aggresive, daring, seductive, you named it. And most of all, no one, literally NO ONE should challenge her because then, her dominant part would burst forth, feeling offended.

Well, clearly Ms. Ru didn't like to be at the bottom and took the initiative to ride him.

Evelyn felt like crying but lack tears. Hahaha...amazing, simply amazing!

How many times should this thing happen until she finally learnt her lesson and not get drunk?

Ironically though, despite her bad habit, to this day, her virginity remained intact. Her virtue stayed pure. Only this achievement made her quite proud of herself. With this, she could continue to cheer herself.

At least she didn't drag someone to bed, so she still had self-control despite being drunk.

At least she woke up in her own bed.

At least she was still a virgin.

Right, let's just state it that way. End of discussion.

Feeling encouraged, Evelyn sat up and glanced at the floor-to-ceiling window which was covered by a thick curtain. The sun was glaring behind it trying to fight its way into the room.

Evelyn grabbed her phone beside her pillow to check the time. It was already 2 in the afternoon. There were four unread messages in her wechat.

[12:00 PM, Birdie: Are you awake?]

[01:18 PM, Birdie: We're shopping right now. Call me!]

[01:52 PM, Jia Xin: You're still sleeping? We're going to have lunch. Come join us if you see this]

Evelyn smiled before calling her friend. On the second ring, Jia Xin picked up her call.

"Hey sleepyhead!" Jia Xian energetic voice echoed through the phone. It was a little bit noisy in the background.

"Sorry I couldn't join you guys for breakfast this morning," Evelyn spoke as she took out her clothes from the bag. She was preparing to take a shower to join her friends for lunch.

"No worries. You left us a message last night. Right, how are you today? You good?"

Last night Evelyn sent a text saying she was feeling unwell so she took off without saying goodbye, leaving her friends in the club. Hearing her friend's worried tone, she felt slightly guilty now. It wasn't because she was feeling sick. She was running away from 'someone'. But she couldn't say that to her friend obviously.

Stammering at her words, Evelyn nervously replied, "Yep! All good now. I'm joining you guys for lunch. Where is it by the way?"

"Hebe, near Cathedrale Notre-Dame."

"Got it. See you there!" Evelyn was a bit excited. Her stomach had been rumbling for a while now. She had skipped breakfast after all.

Hearing Evelyn's high-spirited voice, Jia Xin and Biyu no longer worried over her. "Want us to order for you first?"

"That'll be great. I'm starving already. Hahaha..okay, I'll hang up now. I need to get ready."

"Sure. Take your time." Jia Xin hung up.

Grinning, Evelyn moved her phone down and clicked the last unread text.

[03:00 AM, ____ : Failed. They noticed]

Her eyes instantly darkened and her gaze became frigid. Cold wind seemed to blow into the room as the temperature lowered below freezing point.

She replied the text briefly.

[I'll handle it tonight]

Evelyn put away her phone and strode towards the bathroom. She was humming a certain mellow song along the way. A cunning smile plestered on her face. Her emerald eyes revealed a hint of ruthlessness, unfit for girls her age.
