Synopsis

IMMORTAL LIMBO

She floated like there wasn't a thing left in this universe. Whenever her eyes were open all she could perceive is... nothingness! Grey nothingness! Perhaps nothingness isn't the correct way to describe what it was that she was floating in. Her body was no longer corporeal which gave rise to the feeling of floating, and if she was being completely honest, the energy that was meant to make up her body felt like it was vibrating with such an intensity, she swore she would tear apart at any moment. She was certain that at any time now, she would no longer exist.

"The concept of nothingness is impossible",

She had thought to herself repeatedly, however the unsettling truth that would drown out any and all semblance of her composure, was that the space surrounding her in all directions, appeared to stretch on to infinity without any signs of curvature or any other objects in this space save for herself.

"Nor is infinity!"

With this thought she closed her eyes and had tried to calm her non existing, racing heart.

Every time she had realized that she didn't have any memories of who she was, where she was from, or how she had come to this impossible place, her head would start to feel fuzzy and her chest would constrict. No doubt a habit of the previous body she had, something she was not aware of.

She let out a cry, but to her deep dissatisfaction and dismay her surrounding of infinite nothingness, (which she was confident could not be nothingness), absorbed all the sound that came from her.

Her cry turned into a wail, until it eventually tapered out to a whimper that would never be heard.

It could have been a few minutes or it could have been a few millenniums, she could not observe the flow of time in this limbo, but her surroundings started to gain substance. Largely undetectable at first, but if she was to open her 'eyes' and brave the fear and insanity for longer then a brief moment she would notice that she was in fact correct!

Of course she was not in infinite nothingness! However, to the perceptions of a consciousness that small, how else could she describe where she was without any other information.

When she finally did open her eyes long enough to catch the changes in her environment, she couldn't help but wish for her old fear of nothingness to come back. To her, it appeared as though some places would get darker. It was as if those spots where getting heavier and heavier, so much so that it looked like...random spots of whatever this place was made up of, would just start dripping and drooping from the weight. Other spots got lighter in colour and would appear to form bubbles and float about in every which way with, no regard for which way could be up, down, left, or right. The heavy spots would go from a comfortable gray, to a black so black that it could absorb life itself if there was anyone there besides herself. The light parts turned to white so blinding she no longer feared tearing apart from her own vibrations, but by evaporating in its brilliance .

eventually all the drooping black and floating white, got mashed together and the space she was in began to emit a low grumble. Where the two opposite shades would meet and swirl and blend, enormous vibrations would reverberate and add to the inaudible grumbling in the background surrounding her, until it was a dull but deafening roar that enveloped her very essence. The following moments where spent in agony while her body was being sucked in every direction by the blackest of black drooping globs. It felt like she was everywhere and nowhere at once. Every part of her screaming for this torture to be over. At the point when she felt that she couldn't be pulled and sucked apart any more, a burning sensation hit every part of her that wasn't already under stress from the heavy black drooping globs. She pushed her consciousness as far as it could go, trying in vain to inch away from the burning white bubbles. With pain and terror mounting, and her ability to think being drowned out by the roaring of her surroundings, she was about to break and pass out. The only thing she could do now was feel, and accept what was happening to her. There was no space in all the fear and pain to form a coherent thought.

In the distance a flash of purple seemed to be coming toward her, and as it did, silence came with it. The purple was like a soothing balm to the space she was in. Every spot it touched, returned to the calm, insanity inducing gray that surrounded her when she first awoke in this strange and most dangerously irregular place. The purple flash continued towards her for, again who knows how long. The closer it got to her, the less pain she felt, and the more she was able to form proper thoughts. At one point she had almost become accustom to seeing the purple streak in the distance. It didn't look like it was moving at all, but she knew it was. She could feel the lessening stress on her body and see the gray returning. Soon the purple streak became her one and only line of hope. Maybe it would return her to where ever she was from. It was returning everything else, so why not her! She began to wander what would happen if the purple streak never reached her, until her hope was replaced with panic and anxiety. There where still the black spots and white bubbles, and she feared moving too much and agitating those dreadful substances.

She closed her eyes. squeezed them shut tight. She shoved her finger in her ears and pushed them in as far as they could go. Finally she curled herself up into a ball and surrendered herself to her fate once again, whatever her fate may be. She hoped that if it was death that was coming for her, that it would come soon. She would not allow herself to think about what would happen if the purple streak and death failed to claim her.
