Chapter 20 - Be proud of yourself

"Can we join you?"

Surprisingly, Miss Sea was the one who initiated the conversation this time.

Shao Yan looked up and she was chewing her fruits, so she could only nodded and gestured for them to have a sit.

After Shao Yan cleared her mouth, she said to her, "Did you sleep well, Miss Shen?"

Miss Sea was slicing her tomato scrambled egg, and nodded, "Not bad. I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep because I ate too much last night."

She paused to smile at her.

"But I slept like a baby when I touched the pillow" and then Miss Deep Blue Sea gave a soft chuckle.

Sunshine shone through the glass ceiling on top of them. It gave a soft halo around Miss Sea.

All of them engaged in light hearted talked while eating breakfast.

Shao Yan received message notification from Uncle Yang that he would be there in 10 minutes.

They started to walk together towards the lobby area to wait.

On the way, Miss Sea suddenly stopped Shao Yan, she grabbed her wrist and whispered slightly, "I really need your help."

Shao Yan was alarmed, thinking that she must had some sort of emergency.

Miss Sea then continued after a while, "I need you to give me Mr. Wang's phone number."

Shao Yan was confused.

"Mr. Wang was your point of contact with Gold Crane. How did you two communicate all these time?"

Miss Sea released her hold, and slowly replied, "Only by emails." she frowned and looked upset.

"I tried asking him for several times but he said that the number was for office purpose only. Anything related to authors, by company regulations, he had to use email."

Miss Sea turned to Shao Yan and animatedly said to her, "I know etiquette by that much. I will always talk about work in email so that everything was properly recorded. But why can't I have his phone number?"

Shao Yan scratched her head, she tried to recall the company rules in her head but she couldn't find the statement that Mr. Wang referred to.

Shao Yan thought that it would be fine for her to pass Mr. Wang's number. After all, Miss Sea and Mr. Wang had to work together.

Communication with email would sometime not effective enough.

"Sure, no problem" Shao Yan took out her phone and searched for Mr. Wang contact details and passed it to her.

Miss Sea took down his number and then saved it.

Uncle Yang arrived on time and they left the hotel right away.

The journey to the art festival was smooth.

It was a week long festival for anime. The organizers had booked a conference building for this purpose.

Ever since the news came out that Deep Blue Sea was invited to this event, a lot of people had been speculating if the book would be turned into an anime series.

Some people also asked Miss Sea about this yesterday, but she just smiled and asked them if it was really the case, to please continue to support her work.

From afar, Shao Yan could see the scale for this meet up was much bigger than yesterday.

She could see the mass that had been waiting for the door to open. More than few hundreds of them were standing in wait outside.

Shao Yan went through her checklist again. She also made few calls to check the things on the other side.

When they arrived, one of the organizer accompanied them to register. They were given an identification badge and then they were shown to their allocated spot.

When the main door finally opened, the swarm of people started to enter in order.

Today's event for author Deep Blue Sea would be separated into two sections.

The first one was a meet and greet and signing session, similar to yesterday. This was scheduled for three hours.

People would came to her with their books, which Miss Sea would sign and also took selfie or group pictures with them.

The crowd that came today was much younger than yesterday.

And that's why the way they dressed up were more complicated. They were willing to spend the effort.

When one of her fans stood in front of her, Miss Sea showed a surprised look. Miss Sea slowly stood up, looked at the fans carefully.

"Your costume today, did you make this yourself?" Miss Sea asked him with wide eyes.

The man dropped his face a little and scratched his head. His face was blushing hard and said, "Yes, I couldn't afford to buy anything outside because they were expensive, so I decided to stitch it myself"

Miss Sea was even more surprised.

She slowly walked over the table and approached him. She asked if she could touch it a little.

The costume of this man, was the character of the demon king from her novel. When she did her research for this character, she took a model of ancient Aztec king as her reference.

The kingdom symbol was also borrowed from Aztec and combined it with some of Amazonian and Egypt legends. She designed the symbol herself, with the intention to bring out the feeling of great power and majestic.

She took months to finally come up with a satisfying design.

The symbol was a complicated drawing. Yet this man, was able to stitch it onto his costume with amazing details. She was thoroughly impressed.

The man looked at her face and misunderstood her as being angry. He kept apologizing.

Miss Sea tried to soften her expression, "You did an amazing job here. Why are you apologizing." she smiled gently, "Are you studying fashion design or graphic design?"

He nodded, "Graphic design. I am very good at what I do." He tried to sound proud of himself, but he said those words with little mouse voice, which she found actually amusing.

Miss Sea patted his shoulder twice, "You will go far in the future. have some more confidence in yourself." she glanced at her manager.

She quickly handed Miss Sea a gift bag prepared by the organizer.

Miss Sea handed it to the man, "Thank you. For making my dream came true. I always wanted to see this costume at this level. You brought out Devil King aura perfectly."

After some people heard their interaction, more and more people wanted to take pictures with him. He ended up became a little celebrity himself. Everyone started talking about his design in the social media.

Shao Yan, who stood on the side, quietly captured all of these with her camera. She kept reminding herself to portray the warmth she felt right now properly through her words.
