Chapter 5 - Gathering Supplies!

Darius continued to drive in search of an electronics store, he was really worried about this busted window and the possibility of an infect attacking him through it. He kept driving as he would often encounter infected, they would always rush the car and attack.

However, Darius would simply run them over or speed pass them. He eventually heard a notification after killing some of them through the way of vehicular manslaughter.

Darius smiled when he heard the notification and continued to drive. Ahri also received the notice but she was asleep at the moment. She had been sleeping quietly for some time; despite him running over infected. An hour went by just like that and he finally saw an electronics store, it was called Radio Shack.

"Ahri, sorry to disturb your sleep but we've arrived at an Electronics store." Darius drove into the parking lot, there were surprisingly no infected around which was good for him and her. Ahri got up with a tired expression. Darius was quite sleepy himself but knew he had to hold on until he found a place for them to rest.

Ahri didn't talk much unless it was necessary, she knew Darius wouldn't understand her so this was why. Happily, for them, there was a convenience store next door to the radio shack, so they could load up some food while they were at it.

They suited up and got out of the car; Darius made sure to take the keys with him. He was sure that there were people hiding around here, taking cover from the infected.

"Ahri, let's go into the electronics store first then the convenient store next." Darius pointed to the Radio Shack and Ahri simply nodded.

They slowly and cautiously approached the store. The streets outside were filled with trash and cars everywhere that were abandoned, it was a true apocalypse. Darius and Ahri were now in the store, it was surprisingly still organized inside.

"Let's stick together, who knows if one of those things might pop out or something," Darius said.

Darius checked the store out and found that there were no infected inside at all. Ahri pointed to the sign which showed all the items that were in each aisle. Darius understood what she meant and he was able to find a GPS quickly, he made sure to take a lot of batteries and a few flashlights as well.

They also had walkie talkies inside of the store which he grabbed instantly, this was a must.

"Okay, Ahri, we've got everything we need, let's go," Darius whispered and said. They both ran out of the store with bags filled with needed items, he was the one carrying everything while she was in front of him guarding him with her Mp5.

Once they got outside, they saw a stunning scene before them, it was a man trying to steal their car but he couldn't high wire it at all!

"Deteike!" Ahri ran up to the car and yelled as she pointed her gun. The man was frightened seeing her carrying a submachine gun, and pointing it at him.

TN: Deteike!=Get Out!

"Wait, wait, don't shoot! Calm down!" The man slowly got out of the car with his hands up.

Darius walked over with his gun pointed towards the man as well. He had to be careful, he didn't trust anyone in this world! The man wore a typical white-collar worker outfit, he was a normal caucasian male with a beer belly.

"Step away, and don't try anything funny or so help me, I'll shoot!" Darius said as he took aim. The man moved, turning around with his hands up as Darius told Ahri to check him. He and she had tons of guns in the back, so he had to be sure that he didn't take any.

She patted him down and found that he didn't have anything on him. After talking with the man for a bit, they found out that there were people hiding inside the convenience store next door. It was just a small store similar to Seven Eleven.

Darius put the items he got from the Radio Shack into the hummer and said. "Good, you'll be our guide to the store, don't try anything stupid or we'll end you!" Darius wasn't going to be nice to these people, to him, they were NPC characters.

Those people in hiding would also get him killed if he slipped up, he could be considered by the cube as a "Traveler".

"Of course, afterward, how about you guys take me with you? I can hold things and clean things, whatever you want, hehe!" The man's forehead was full of sweat as he asked, he could see the hostility on Ahri's face which even surprised Darius.

"Go, guide us to the store!" Darius completely ignore the man's question and ordered him. Their loud talking would attract some unwanted company if this keeps up.

"Okay, okay, just tell her to stop aiming at me!" The man looked at Ahri's face with a chill. She had her gun pointed straight at his head at all times, and if he acted wrongly, she might shoot him!

Ahri was well aware of the situation and didn't want to be stumbled by the natives of this apocalyptical world!

"No, I think she's doing just fine. Guide us or we'll shoot you in the leg and we'll see how far you can go with a messed up leg!" Darius said coldly. This man tried to steal their vehicle and slip away; this would have set them back big time if it had happened.

"Alright, please! I'll guide you!" The man's shirt was now somewhat drenched in sweat, he walked ahead of them as he guided them. Ahri kept her eyes on him; Darius was no different, he just wanted to grab a bunch of snacks from this store and leave.

They approached the store a saw multiple figures inside, these people weren't really good at hiding themselves. Darius's mouth twitched a bit, if this keeps up, those infected would soon discover these idiots.

In fact, they would eventually get discovered anyway with these things keen nose senses. Darius couldn't help but feel sorry for that man he saw in the gas station, he was surely going to get spotted by those infected that were drawn to that explosion before they left there.

They entered the store and saw five men, while two of them were holding knives in their hands.

"You guys better put those weapons down or someone is going to die today!" Darius said.

The men dropped their knives and Darius told them to kick them his way. He picked them up and threw them outside.

Ahri grabbed a basket, she started filling it up with snacks and drinks at an alarming rate. She would fill it up with snacks and run outside to dump them in the car before coming back to do the same thing over again.

Darius kept an eye on the people to make sure they didn't try anything funny.

"Damn man, are you going to clean the store out before you're satisfied?" One of the men was irritated seeing them take a lot of things from the store.

Darius laughed like he was looking at some idiot. At this point, Ahri had loaded a decent amount of supplies into the car.

"I'll tell you now before I go, I suggest you guys find a car or something because those things will soon sniff you guys out and that'll spell the end!" Darius spoke as he was backing away towards the door, he kept his eye on them.

He could see the great change in their expression when he said that.

"Wait, you should take us with you, don't leave us! Do you even consider yourself human by ditching us!?" One of the other men spoke up in anger, his face was red from rage but Darius didn't say anything and just ran off to the car.

He couldn't care about these people, he was from another dimension compared to them.

"Alright, let's get out of here, we have everything we need." Before that, he looked at the convenience store where the people were and threw 2 pistols out the window as he pulled off.

They were surprised to see this and went to grab them. At this point, Darius and Ahri had long left their range. Ahri began to eat as they drove, she hadn't eaten anything in while so she was hungry; they had meat but it needed to be cooked, it was put inside the cooler full of ice and drinks.

Darius was heading towards the countryside at this point, he drove for hours and Ahri had once again fallen asleep which was something he was dying to do. Night soon came and he had also made it to the countryside, it had already been night for quite some time.

Darius could hear moaning and screeches during his time driving, he had even heard a shotgun go off multiple times while he was out here.

Soon, he spotted a huge house, it looked like it had been evacuated recently. It was farmland around this house, there were no animals but there were lots of vegetables growing out of the ground. Darius couldn't see any of this because it was obviously night time. He pulled up at the house, to be exact, the side of the house and into the garage.

There were no infected in the garage, and for some reason, the garage was wide open.

"Ahri, we found a place to stay for a bit." Ahri woke up and stretched her limps while yawning. She looked around and found that they were in a garage as Darius said.

They both got out of the car and Darius went to shut the garage right away, he then cut on a flashlight to see things better. The garage was connected to the house, so all they had to do was walk through a certain door to get inside. The garage had no windows and with the help of the flashlights, Ahri found the lightswitch.

"Pāfekuto!" Ahri said with a smile, then she pointed to the door, indicated that they should check the house next. Darius nodded and opened the door which wasn't locked. The house was dark, and he didn't want to cut any lights on just in case it attracted any infected outside or in the area.

Darius and Ahri check everywhere in the house, the place was completely vacant. They both checked with flashlights; the people here left in a hurry when the infection broke out. This was only Darius's speculation but he believed it to be so.

Of course, while they were checking the house they stayed together the whole time, they weren't about that whole splitting up business.

After checking the house 3 times, they both were assured that this was an abandoned house. They then went back upstairs and saw many bedrooms that they had checked several times already.

"Okay, I'll go sleep in this room and you go sleep in that one." Darius pointed to his room and the one she could sleep in.

Ahri shook her head, she wanted to sleep in the same room as Darius just incase. She pointed to herself and him, indicating that they should sleep in the same room. Darius didn't like the idea, but he decided to do so since this was about caution and survival.

Over the course of time, both Ahri and Darius brought in all the items from Hummer, they planned to stay here for a bit. They had got more ice from the convenience store recently so they could keep the frozen food cold.

They sat all the food in the room, they would get a better look at the house in the morning but now, they were sleepy, especially Darius.

Surprisingly, they both slept next to each other, they trusted one another at this point. They had been through a lot and there was no problem with this. Darius had only eaten a bag of Doritos, so he went to sleep on just that alone. It didn't take long for him to fall asleep but Ahri was still up, looking into the darkness, she wasn't that tired.

Tomorrow they would have to figure something out, they weren't sure if they should go to an army base. The people might take their guns and food for themselves, which wouldn't be ideal for Darius and Ahri.

They couldn't stay here too long, eventually the Infected would catch their trail. So people would always have to be on the move. After some time, Ahri managed to close her eyes and fall asleep.
