Kane kept waiting for something, anything to happen whether overt or covert after that meeting with Robert Bradshaw but nothing did seem to happened. It was like throwing a stone into a river to watch the ripples only to find that it had sunk without any at least on the surface but there was likely a very fierce undercurrent. Kane was sure though with all of his technology, intelligence and wisdom that no matter how fierce the undercurrent was he wouldn't be pulled under to his demise.
A certain Carrie Bradshaw did get in contact with him or rather Carrie Mildew as she was going by now. That was her maiden name before she was married and after an unspecified reason she got a divorce and changed it back to that. Might be related with the divorce but a body had been pulled out of a river with the driver having been drunk behind the wheel, with enough alcohol around to open his own liquor store and it was confirmed to be the late Robert Bradshaw. Apparently according to the news he was so very upset and distraught over his divorce that he committed suicide via drink driving off of a bridge.
She did thank him for the information provided and asked whether the medical procedures were possible to actually work or just something hyped up and advertised by people using cosmetics. Being a senior politician like her former husband and her father before her whom was still very much active despite his advanced age, she had a lot of clout so Kane offered her the rejuvenation treatment pro bono and if she was happy with the results and confident in his medical technology then she could have the treatment to cure her infertility. Naturally this was also so she would be living proof of his work and a walking advertisement.
She gladly excepted and in a few weeks was transformed into a new women or rather her younger self and was now able to bear children. She was ecstatic by the transformation and asked why it wasn't readily available to everyone to which Kane replied that it was. if you could be the exorbitant price as life didn't come cheap and he was forced to make it that way by the certain people and agencies in the government. After having gained a new lease on life and the path to motherhood opened to her, she promised that no matter what Kane faced in the future she would always do her best to help him. Kane took that offer with a pinch of salt as promises by politicians weren't really worth much, as lying and manipulating is what they are paid to do. Still in this era people generally had more integrity and honor then the later generations so she might actually mean it. What bothered him was that she desperately kept trying to seduce him like a dog on heat and wouldn't take no for an answer... It was distracting him from his work and research.
She was already that grateful from the medical treatment but it might do to start a romantic relationship with her to further pull her into his camp, to act as a protective umbrella and allow him to have political backing but he was in no rush and didn't really need her. He couldn't keep pushing her off and he didn't want to be nasty to chase her away as there is an ancient saying that 'hell hath no fury like a women scorned' and she might not take rejection well.Still it was actually nice to have someone chase after him for something genuine reasons rather then because of what he can do for them though that was probably part of it. She might want extended or eternal life but she was undoubtedly also happy with everything that he had done for her and as Kane could smell the pheromones she let off as soon as she saw him, he knew for a fact that she definitely wasn't faking her attraction to him. It was the same as getting with an actress, you would never know what was real and what wasn't.
Still Kane hadn't been with a women in quite a while, since before he arrived here as a matter of fact, so he was getting lots of urges that he simply couldn't satisfy alone, so a little dalliance might be acceptable. It wouldn't be a permanent thing as she couldn't handle the fact that her former husband was sleeping around and Kane will make it clear from the start that he aims to have a lot of women. It was against Kane's expectations that she was actually okay with it all and was willing to accept that he would have more women.
Apparently a man as successful, amazing and handsome as him was expected to have multiple women in her own words and as he had made it clear from the start and she knew what she was in for it was acceptable, if only barely. It also helped that she was in the spring of her youth again and had fallen head over heels for him so she was willing to look past what she saw as his minor faults. Truly love does indeed blind someone but now Kane had to put up with Stark's ribbing if he ever found out. It was when he thought of that and the fun that Stark would have at his expense that he swore that he would keep their relationship a secret and never tell a soul.
Funny how when you aren't looking for something it smacks you in the face like the event horizon of a black hole, completely unable to escape the gravitational pull, but when you search for something it can remain elusive forever.
Kane wasn't sure how long his relationship, and he really hesitated to call it that as it was more lust from him would last, as while he had been with others they were all his comrades in arms. That is to say they were all the genetic experimented children that he had grown up with and served in the service of the Terran Space Empire with. However they were the same age as him whereas this was a women much older then him, from a different era and world to boot so there were not a few obstacles in the way not least of which were cultural differences.
Carrie was a certainly looker in her youth though and as she had her rejuvenation treatment she had the physical appearance of a lady that looked like she was in her twenties again with a mature women's aura, so when she walked down the street men did pay lots of attention to her.
Standing at 5'11 she was tall for a women though still dwarfed by Kane at his 6'6 height. With jet black raven colored hair, clear bright blue eyes with a sharp pointed chin and pronounced cheekbones and curves where a women should be curvy she looked like an elf out of a story, minus the pointed ears and even Kane had to admit she met his exacting standards, if only just.
When Kane read the story of the late Robert Bradshaw's demise he straight forwardly asked Carrie if she had anything to do with it which she vehemently denied and listening to her heartbeat with his enhanced hearing, which didn't fluctuate as she said this confirmed that she wasn't lying. It was either one of the politicians getting rid of him to cover up anything related to the meeting Kane had with him or tying up loose ends. It could also be them sending him a message that we can get rid of him so you could be next or that they got rid of him so now the slate is clean and that was a peace offering. It might also have been Carrie's father after he heard of the divorce and the man's cheating, as he really pampered his daughter and never liked the man to begin with but arranged the marriage due to politics.
After that it seemed as though a switch had been flipped and all of a sudden Kane was able to hire some of the people he was aiming for and some of the people whom had rejected before reconsidered and wanted to work for him. He accepted them all knowing that a good few of them will be reporting to other people. Kane would have them see all they wanted to which would be nothing but a normal school or university and eventually fade them out with better offers elsewhere or bad performance reviews. The students going to the universities were too old for Kane to care much about anyway as he didn't have enough time to influence them, so for the next few years it didn't matter what they reported. Thus everything seemed to be resolved, at least on the surface for the moment, although Kane had no intention of lowering his guard.
