When King Jin arrived at the palace, he was still carrying Yi Ling. Instead of going to his quarters, he headed to the opposite courtyard. It was his little sister's courtyard, which no one was using anyway.
He carried her all the way to the main chamber and sat her down on the bed. Nobody had seen them come in; he was proficient with his Qinggong.
The room was dark, so King Jin lit the candles. Yi Ling didn't speak the whole way, finding it hard not to argue every time she spoke with this man. However, she was grateful to be sitting in a comfortable bed instead of on the ground.
"Yu Ran, Tian Gu. Come to this King," King Jin said softly. The two had been following them the whole time and were standing guard outside. Tian Gu had already told the others to rest, as some were injured during the fight earlier. Unfortunately, the legendary beast got away before Yu Ran arrived.
The doors opened, and the two men entered. They bowed their heads and cupped their fists.
"Your servants are here to obey the King's commands," they said in unison.
"Yi Ling will be staying in this pavilion from now on. Yu Ran, give her some servants to attend to her. Provide her with everything she needs; this King wants the best for her. Also, she is allowed to go anywhere. Tian Gu, send Rabbit and Eagle to attend to her. This King feels more comfortable if someone guards her in case anyone brings trouble to her. This is an order!" King Jin said firmly, looking at Yi Ling to see if she would disagree or add anything else. Yi Ling only looked back at him and didn't say a word.
Yu Ran now understood who the young man was—it was the King's consort. He smiled. Poor Tian Gu, who hadn't seen the woman before and was still kept in the dark. Who was Yi Ling, and who was the young man in front of them? He looked at Yu Ran, who gave him a grim smile instead.
Yu Ran sent a telepathic message, "I'll explain later." Tian Gu nodded.
"Your servants obey the King's orders," they bowed and left.
When everyone left, Yi Ling was still having a staring contest with the King.
"Is this King really that good-looking that you keep staring at this King?" King Jin smiled.
"Too conceited. You're not even that handsome compared to my contracted Deity," Yi Ling replied.
King Jin frowned. Nobody had ever told him that he wasn't handsome before.
"Deity? You believe in Gods?" King Jin couldn't help but be curious about this woman's identity.
"Yes, Deity. He is a God that I adore very much. You are nothing compared to him at all." Which was true; Mu Xin was way gentler to her than this pig. Hmph.
King Jin's face turned unsightly. The more he heard about this Deity, the more furious he got.
"There can't be any Deity on this continent! He must be lying to you!" he gritted his teeth.
"Of course there isn't. He is stuck inside a prison. You won't be able to find him," Yi Ling smirked.
King Jin couldn't believe what he was hearing. A Deity? There's another one like him?
"Yi Ling, where did you come from?" he had to ask. It was bothering him now.
"Feng Kingdom!" Since Yi Ling wanted to go back there and no one knew how to get there, maybe this man knows where it is. He is a King, after all. She grinned at King Jin.
