When they were walking down the street earlier:
"Stop!" Mu Xin's voice buzzed inside her head. Yi Ling stopped abruptly. "What? Why?" She was confused.
"Go inside that shabby shop," Mu Xin ordered. She did as Mu Xin said and went inside.
Mu Xin felt the familiar aura getting stronger. He wasn't sure until Yi Ling stood in front of the shabby store.
It was definitely the Divine Harmony Bow, the bow he specifically made for a special someone in the past. His heart felt like someone was squeezing it.
Yi Ling came to a stop in front of a case, Mu Xin guided her to the bow's location. When Mu Xin saw the bow, the pain in his heart increased. He hadn't seen this bow for a long time, not since the last time he saw its past owner. He didn't know the bow still existed. He thought the person had destroyed it so nobody could use it. This lucky encounter brought pain to his chest. His eyes were starting to get blurry because of the tears. He reminisced about the past and didn't speak a word to Yi Ling anymore. He just kept staring at it.
The Divine Harmony Bow had lost its brilliance and powerful aura, making it look ordinary. Though it was like this, Mu Xin could still locate it but only when he was at a certain distance from it. He was its maker after all. He always left a divine marker on his creations, like Yi Ling's mask, so he could locate them in case they got lost.
Seeing it now was heartbreaking. He missed that person so much. He constantly drew the picture of that person from his memories and hid it inside his study. He could never forget how painful their parting was.
Yi Ling, on the other hand, wasn't sad at all. Contrary to Mu Xin, she actually liked the look of the bow. She used to do archery with her father when she was young but wasn't able to perfectly make one when she was inside the Abyss. She nodded instantly when the shopkeeper asked her if she was interested.
She hadn't heard Mu Xin say anything else after directing her to the bow's location, but Yi Ling didn't mind. She actually wanted to have the bow. Yi Ling ordered Linyu telepathically to buy the bow, no matter what the price was.
"May I see it?" Linyu finally asked, breaking the silence.
The shopkeeper hesitated for a moment but then nodded. He carefully took the bow out of the case and handed it to Linyu. Linyu inspected the bow closely, noting its delicate craftsmanship despite its worn appearance. He then handed it to Yi Ling, who took it with a certain reverence.
"Why this one?" Linyu asked through telepathy.
"Mu Xin told me to get it. There's more to it than meets the eye," Yi Ling responded through telepathy, her gaze never leaving the bow.
"How much is this bow? Name your price, I'll buy it since my younger brother wants it," Linyu spoke to the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper's eyes lit up. He wanted to get rid of that bow for so many years. Just that, nobody wanted an old, cheap-looking bow for the price he was asking. It looked too ordinary, especially since it hadn't been used for a long time. He didn't hesitate anymore, seeing that the man looked wealthy anyway.
"The price is 5 million gold coins," the shopkeeper pursed his lips. This was the point that made him lose all his customers when someone asked for the price.
"We'll take it," Linyu declared, looking at the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper was surprised but quickly masked his expression with a professional smile. "A fine choice, young master. It is an antique, and I assure you, it is quite special."
Linyu handed him the bills. The shopkeeper was shocked! He just bought it like that? He didn't even have questions? Just because his little brother wanted it? Isn't this bow made for a girl? Even though he had plenty of questions in his head, he instantly took the money. Seeing the right amount, he went to unlock the case and handed it to the little brother with a smile.
"Here you go, better take good care of it. Or else your big brother will get mad." He winked at Yi Ling. Yi Ling found the shopkeeper amusing. She accepted the bow and nodded.
Mo Tian's face was full of disbelief. He couldn't understand the appeal of such an old and seemingly fragile weapon. Just because the little guy wanted the bow, Linyu instantly bought it for him. No questions asked. So they were brothers, he rubbed his chin as he thought.
Since Yi Ling got her bow, they left the shop. Mo Tian brought them over to a shop that sold cauldrons. Yi Ling walked around to look for a cauldron that she would be using. Linyu just stood by her side. Mo Tian figured out that the cauldron was for the little brother again. Thinking about this, if he wanted to befriend and get benefits from them, he needed to be on the little brother's good side.
To do this, he helped Yi Ling pick a good cauldron. The Mo Family was in the medical field after all. He knew all about cauldrons; he owned a couple as well. So he explained to Yi Ling the pros, cons, and differences between the metals used in making the cauldrons. Although Yi Ling didn't say anything, she kept nodding as if she understood what he was saying. That was enough to make him happy. Linyu, on the other hand, just let them be. He knew nothing about this area. He knew that his past master liked making concoctions as well, but he hadn't seen it in person. So he just followed them silently, like an obedient puppy.
