"Hehe... old tree, I almost thought you grew taller. Looks like you didn't," Jin Minzhe teased Linyu. He was quite happy knowing that he had found what he was looking for. If only he could get in touch with his father now, then everything would be solved.
"Tsk... You brat! What are you doing here? Are you bothering my master?" Linyu was sweating. He needed to distract and send away this brat in front of him, or else bad things would happen to him.
"I'm looking for my father, and you came here to prove my identity." Jin Minzhe sipped his tea. He didn't see any harm in revealing his identity since it was Linyu's master. Anyone who could pass his father's judgment was not an enemy in his eyes.
Linyu choked on his own spit. This godforsaken brat is trying to kill him! He looked at Yi Ling, but her emotions were too calm for him to read.
"Well? Is it true that he is Mu Xin's son?" Yi Ling looked at the tense Linyu.
Linyu sighed. He was really trapped. If only Mu Xin were here. But then, if Mu Xin were here, he'd probably throw a fit that would cause Yi Ling to be suspicious. That wouldn't end up well either.
"Yes, he is Mu Xin's son." Linyu bowed to his master. Sooner or later, Yi Ling would know anyway.
Yi Ling's brows furrowed. How could that be? Mu Xin had been imprisoned for more than a million years! Mu Xin was too mysterious for her. He was so powerful but still ended up being imprisoned. She even dared think that maybe, just maybe, Mu Xin and King Jin were at the same power level.
"I told you that I was telling the truth. I followed you here because I sensed the Sapphire Jade Ring." Jin Minzhe said proudly. He crossed his arms while looking at Yi Ling. "Now, it's your turn. Who are you?" Jin Minzhe was curious to know the person in front of him as well.
Yi Ling felt like hiding her identity, but then if he was Mu Xin's son and Linyu seemed to be okay with him, it should be okay to reveal it, right? She rubbed her chin and slowly grabbed her mask.
As she slowly lifted it, Linyu was panicking deep inside. Please, please... Remember your father's words... He looked at Jin Minzhe and then Yi Ling.
When Yi Ling got her mask off, Jin Minzhe gasped. What he thought was a young man, was a breathtaking young woman. Her eyes shone like the stars, her nose was cute, her lips were red, and her complexion was like porcelain. What shocked him more was that she was a younger version of the woman in his father's study.
As he studied the woman sitting in front of him, teardrops fell from his eyes. The same pain he felt six years ago, at the river where he accidentally saw her. Jin Minzhe's eyes were starting to get redder, but he didn't seem to notice the tears going down his face. There was pain and sadness in his eyes.
He almost blurted it out loud, but then he remembered his father's words. He closed his eyes as he tried to endure the pain. Jin Minzhe unconsciously clenched his chest; it was so painful to see his mother again. But the fact remained that she wouldn't remember him as her son and that he had caused her death.
Jin Minzhe stood up and walked around the table, in front of Yi Ling. Yi Ling didn't know what happened; the man in front of her started crying. She felt a sense of grief as well, but she brushed it off thinking maybe she just felt sad for him, whatever he was going through.
Linyu, on the other hand, was speechless. Mu Xin! Wake up!
