As the rain kept pouring down like a waterfall and the cold seeping to the surroundings like an unstoppable tide, a young woman with brown hair and smooth features showing elegance and beauty clad in a blue dress with clear smearing of different colors as if she was repeatedly hit with little color splashes that changed the original blue dress into what appeared in its present state, vibrant, was standing at the entrance of a large building holding a piece of cloth while cleaning the aftermath of the color fight that had stricken the man standing next to her.
The man was half a foot taller than the woman and he gave off a goofy feeling when one looked at him with his blonde hair dirtied with different colors of green and red.
He took the jacket that he was holding draping it over the woman "We should head back inside now as it is getting colder by the minute darling" he said, "Well why don't you say that to our daughter who is clearly having the time of her life playing in the rain" She looked at him and smiled a little seeing his face still having smudges of glitter still unwashed.
"Kate, come here" the man cupped his wife's hand and turned around and shouted to the little girl running around playing in the rain, she wore a pink raincoat while jumping around in the little ponds of water as it kept splashing her boots.
"Kate" he called again as she didn't hear him, the girl stopped playing and looked to her parent standing at the building's door then ran up to them when she heard a rustling sound coming from her left, she stopped and looked to bushes that she heard the sound come from.
Her dad called her again "Kate, it's getting late baby we should leave now", the girl looked to her dad "Daddy but I want to keep playing some more" the girl said in a cute little voice when she heard a soft sound like a cat meowing weakly from the bushes.
The girl was around a feet away from the bushes as she looked and found two orbs of light glittering in the dark looking at her from under it. She walked up to it when she heard the soft meowing again, she said "Daddy there is a kitty here, I think it is sick", the man let go of his wife's hand, took the umbrella and walked up to the girl standing next to the bushes
"Kate, why don't you go to your mother and I will take a look at the kitty, okay" "Yes daddy" she ran to her mother and he watched her till she reached her mother and hugged her. The man squatted in the rain trying to find the cat where his daughter said it was, "Well what do we have here" a little kitten was hiding under the leaves for shelter with its small body shivering from the cold, he tried to hold it when it suddenly swept with its claws at his hand leaving a small scratch on his finger, he pulled his hand back and looked at it shocked not because of the scratch but because he found his palm and some of the fingers covered in blood.
He looked at its shivering, week, little body which was looking back at him stubbornly, he took a handkerchief from his body and wiped the blood from his hands then turned around and walked to his wife. The girl held the hem of his shirt "Daddy, did you find it, was it hurt", "It's fine sweetie" he looked at his wife and leaned next to her ears "I think it was in a fight as I found blood on it, I don't think it is going to make it and I don't know what to tell her" his wife looked at him for a moment and said "We should try to save it at least, the cats numbers are dwindling so we should do our part and try to save it if we could", seeing his wife's serious face, he couldn't resist planting a kiss on her lips then took the piece of cloth from her hands and went back to the bushes.
He soon found the kitten again as he draped the cloth on its body careful not to get scratched again then wrapped it carefully while the kitten did some futile struggles and picked it up.
If he was shocked before then this time he was horrified when he saw its body covered with blood turning its fur completely red and its body filled with cuts and missing patches of hair. "he covered the wounds as best as he could with the little piece of cloth he had and went back to the entrance to his wife and daughter "Tell Mike to get the vehicle", his wife looked at the bundle resting on his hand while he tried to keep it still and the blood seeping from under it and she immediately pressed a couple times on her watch, the next moment a male's rough voice came from the watch "yes ma'am how can I help".
"Get the car to the side entrance as fast as you can and set destination to the nearest vet" she said taking her daughter's hand in her own and walking back inside followed by her husband and the little kitten, they passed two corridors and went to exit the building from the side entrance that led to a quiet street and found the car with a man holding the back door for them with an umbrella. He looked to be in his forties with a rough face that showed seriousness with silver hair and dark sunglasses, he had a scar on his chin that went up slightly to his cheek.
"Mommy is it okay" the girl said to her mother, "It's going to be okay honey, we are just taking it to check if it is sick or not" the woman looked to the man "did you find anything", "no ma'am, it's all clear" he shut the door after they went in then ran to the driver seat, three seconds later the car left the building and was on its way on the dark streets of the city.
