Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

Daily exercise helps build stamina within your body, and at this moment I wish I had exercised during my free time. Running from the monster made my energy drain faster than an iphone battery. The monster is still behind me, if I don't lose it soon, I will end up like everyone else. I go through the layout of the school in my mind, trying to figure out a pathway that can let me slip away from the attention of the monster. After what seemed like an endless run through closed doors, I spotted an open door. I had one chance, whether good or bad, I had to take the door.

I rush in while grabbing the handle of the door, slamming it shut behind me. I knew it was not going to be long before the monster caught up to me. Luck seemed to be with me - as I found an open hole in the ceiling, large enough for me to fit through. I scrambled over the desk and grabbed the edge of the hole, drawing myself into the darkness of the ceiling. Moments later, the door splintered as the monster burst into the room, looking around in confusement.

My breath, laboured from me running, felt like an alarm blaring my location to the monster - every intake of air made my nerves run high. By some miracle the monster did not hear me. It only took a few moments before it turned around and left the room. I sighed a breath of relief, letting my stress diminish even by a little. Knowing that I essentially passed death, I quickly started to reform a plan to escape.

Knowing that it would be more dangerous going through the hallways, I decided that it would be better to manoeuvre my way through the ceiling instead. The ceiling, being practically empty, would be a much straighter path than the hallways and it would provide cover from the eyes of the monster - being that I don't break the ceiling tiles while moving. After I finished making the plan, I proceeded to slowly crawl my way through the ceiling - being careful not to apply too much pressure on any given tile.

It has been almost an hour, or what felt like an hour, since I started moving and so far it has been rather successful. I haven't seen the monster for the most part except for the few times when I see its figure through the occasional hole in the ceiling. I believe that I would soon be at the emergency exit of the school building, however the location of the exit was a problem. The exit door was located at the end of a hallway that was a few yards away from any other doors. If I was to be cornered by the monster before I could open the door and escape, I would be meeting my group faster than the half life of Thallium-208.

All was silent as I moved my way towards the door. I could not hear the sounds of the monster's hooved steps. It was not long before I could see the exit door. Its frame was an ashy grey. I outstretched my hand and slowly gripped the handle. It was easy getting here. It was too easy getting here. As I turned the handle, it made a thud. It was locked. That was not good. At that moment I heard the sound of hooves.
