NATALIA
It's has been a while since I felt peace. My life was compelety ruined. I had no hope. Edward has departed away from me forever, never to be seen again. I stood up from my chair with a sad looking face. My belly made a disturbance. I knew it would be the baby's movement.
I could already felt my body physique changing. My boobs were getting enlarged day by day. I could feel the presence of the child every time. Sometimes, I wished my mother was alive to witness this, help me with my pregnancy and offer some advice to me but she was no more. All I had was my dad, a chronic drunkard and with an irresponsible basket - of -a - mouth. I still can't forgive Edward for this. I will never have the heart to ever say "APOLOGY ACCEPTED" to him.
Sometimes, I wonder, how can Edward be a vampire and he acts like a full blooded human? Does he have tricks up his sleeves or does he performs rituals for that? I don't believe in the impossible but after the crazy stunt show Edward put on for us was considered alarming and that's not all. Some natives of the town are saying that Edward was really a vampire; some called him a beast of blood and some sort of bizarre names but there has been a rumor in the town about the town voo-doo priestess of the name "Te heress".
She was considered the most powerful lady of the town. Legend has it that she helped conquered Darmich republic from some sort of unknown people that was never discovered nor texted down. My father told me about her story when I was young. These stories were cliches in some certain ways but still, the Natives still respects her. Even strangers from all over the land pay homage to this voo-doo priestess. She was old and weary but what made her so powerful was about her power to make prophecies.
On a particular day, immediately at sunrise, I heard an uproar in the village. There was something going on in the town. I rushed out with my dad beside me.crowd of people circled someone.
I couldn't see the individual. I struggled and struggled to get a glimpse of the scene until I had a visual. It was He heress!... but something was totally off in this. She was sitting on the dirty grounds, with some torn cloths in her left and right hand. This wasn't no more a scene. Something was bound to happen. With her weak legs, she stood. She was about to make a prophecy!. She looked at everyone and said:
"Out of the roses, ashes are made
Out of the ashes, the winds swept us away
The thunderclouds are coming
From someone,a curse arrives
The soils of sandroville has been stained and the pillars are at less watchful
Cursed by a child
Saved by a friend
A friend in love is a friend indeed"
Ever since that prophecy, the town has been in pandemoinum. Men and women started to ask questions about this case topic. I couldn't care less about it. Everyone has been in council for the meaning of the prophecy. The townsmen went ahead to Te heress for the translation of the prophecy but to our dismay, she didn't utter a word. Ever since that day, my father has been moving to and fro to meetings. The founding fathers council have never sleep since ever since.
One particular evening, in the dark. I have come back for my family's store. I passed some streets. Everywhere was silent and calm so as the moon shone below the resident's rooftops. I felt that the rain must have made the ground slippery at the entrance so I decided to use the back door leading directly into the house. My baby cramps have made me so weak that I could barely walk up the stairs.
Nevertheless, i moved closer until I got to the living room. I heard some men talking in the living room angrily about something. I took a peep and I saw that it was the founding fathers in the sitting room discussing about an issue.
It was very rare to see the foundings fathers conduct a meeting around this side of the town, let alone in my father's house. The council always pick a discreet location for their meetings. They do this to avoid eavesdropping grim the natives of the town and more importantly, to keep their plans a sercet from the general public.
It was weird to see them here. I have never seen a council's meeting. No citizen of Sandroville has. It has always been conducted in sercet and held in secret locations. This gave me the morale. I decided to stay still and listen to the enclosed discussion.
"we need to do something about this. We need to find out a way to tackle this situation at once. If this rampage continues, I'm afraid, we will loss everything. The lands, houses, our legacy and our hard work will be just a waste in building this town", said The leader of the Council men, Lord Mandelson Henry.
"I know that Alex. The people out there are scared. They are totally freaking out there. The rumour is getting bad day by day. Even the residences are turning the prophecy to another scandal. Can you imagine my son telling me that some market women are saying that the prophecy was the beginning of our apocalypse? Can you believe that?", replied another council man, Sir Alex Thomason whom began to shake furiously on his chair. The Council board now shivered with fear began to contemplate within themselves about the new issue.
"That's the gossip of the town now", said Lord Mandelson while he stood up to collect the cup of wine given to him by Sir Alex Thomason when began to revolt: "We are doomed. We are so fucking fucked!"
Sir Daniel ransbottom, whom was also a part if the council meeting snaps back at Alex as he was shocked; "Alex! How can you believe that shit?"
"Daniel, at this stage and point in time, I can believe any Goddamn word people say", replied Sir Alex Thomason. Soon, the voices died down and the the atmosphere in the room was now serene. "Those are just gossips. Words for market chit-chat. Nothing more", said Mrs Petal Peter's whom stood up in the middle of the room, addressing her fellow mates.
"At at least, one must believe in the impossible. Any fucking thing can happen right now. For example, lightning might be able to strike my flock or maybe the wind might blow away someone's roof. Anything is possible", replied Sir Alex Thomason.
"So you are now in charge in sharing calamities to your town... hmm?", said Sir Daniel Ransbottom as he folds his arms as he looks closely at at his colleague, Alex Thomason with a stern look. "No! .No fucking way. I am just saying this to plan myself for the next possibility if any of those things happens. You know, like counterattack. You get? That is the… ", replied Alex Thomason whom as eventually cut off by Petal Peters, "… We are not here for foul talks neither exchanging of dirty words. What should we do about this issue?"
The leader of the quadrant, Lord Mandelson Henry now on his feet decided to address the issue at hand. He looks round the room filled with his fellow rulers, "At first, I think we should let the fire die out".
The last trio on the high table began to talk among themselveHernyWhat do you suggest, Herny?", asked Daniel Thomason. "I think we should tell the citizens that there is no need to fear and also informing them that the problem has been extinguished. Thus, this will help us entirely. In time, we shall find a way to find the solution to this", said Lord Mandelson Henry.
The idea was proven yo the successful to the entire mindset of the Founding Fathers but still, there was still some gaps to be filled. "It's great plan you are imposing but with this, how sure are you do you think we can stop this?'", asked the over curious Alex Thomason.
Lord Mandelson Henry sighs. He looked upon the faces of his fellow friends and said: "Actually, there is nothing. We don't need to do anything". Everyone in the room began to lay down their thoughts about this. "What do you mean by we don't need to do anything?", asked Mrs Petal Peters.
Soon, Lord Mandelson Henry knew that what he has insise him was bigger than he could bear. The lone thought in his mind kept pestering him to utter what was right to his team. Soon than later, he sat back on his chair uncomfortably while his fellow mates listened with attentive ears. "I went to see the great Te heress.
I complained to her that we needed the meaning of the prophecy, In which most of the other priests or voo-doo priests can't even solve". At the mention of that vital yet disturbing words, the entire room was lit up in fear by the three delegates seated in the room. Whispers turned to noises within seconds as it could now be clearly seen that what hey had at hand was more than they can hold.
"You went to the glorious threshold of the almighty Te heress and you didn't inform any of us? You piece of shit! So much for the authority enlisted to you!", shouted Alex Thomason in fury or what the Lord of the house had done. Sooner than later, the noises escalated into a brew between Lord Mandelson Henry and Alex Thomason. Tension in thee room gree as the fellow contemporaries had to bring down the heat.
At last, the fighting had settled down as Alex Thomason was been sentenced to the other side of the room. Then, Lord Henry continued his speech
"I know you all would be so annoyed about this. I do know it is a custom for the four founding father, we to go to the High Priestess for counseling. I didn't even had that in mind. I just woke up one morning at to see a strange symbol at the top of my front porch's ceiling. Clearly, I knew it was Te Heress time for counseling but what I didn't understand was why she wanted only me to come. Honestly, I thought maybe she wanted me to go for some sercet errand with her but soon as I realised why she sent for just me, I myself became clear to the truth. Fortunately, she didn't say much. She only gave me a strict warning which she said was bound to happen".
The room began more calmer than the deep blue sea. Everywhere was as silent as a cemetery. The two remaining members whispers carefully as they begqn to contemplate amongst themselves.
"So, these warnings you say you got from the old lady, what words were they?", asked Daniel Ransbottom as he clearly was totally silent for a while in the room. Lord Mandelson Henry called up his friends, including Alex Thomson to draw closer to ears reach while he whispers silently, "She said "YOU HAVE TO WAIT A LITTLE LONGER. THE GIRL IS ALMOST DUE".
"So you mean she said we should keep our fucking arms crossed and enjoy the drama coming our way? you see the reason why I hate that cocky ass bitch. She ain't straightforward", lamented Alex Thomason while he poured down more rum down his throat but clearly, no body listens to the words of a drunk man but his attitude could be justified.
Instantly, Petal Peters revolted to the words of her colleague."Alex ,what carnation wrong with you? She is omini-powerful? She can kill you in an instant. Watch you tougue!.
As if that wasnt enough, Sir Daniel ransbottom joined the the debacle on Alex's blizzard behaviour. "Alex, I thought you were smart but obviously, you have sold your intelligence to a stripper's ass. All you do is to drink away your life. Its just by a mere chance you came right in time to claim most of the lands here and if not for that, you would have been in Lusipan drinking rum and rum all day with your fellow scum in the gutters. Get help, Alex. You need it!".
Sir Alex Thomason laughed out hardly to what his friends had spoken. He jogged round the room like a toddler after taking another taste of rum. " I'm un control ok? It was just a joke. Just a joke. Come on, it's nothing personal… Maybe it is but still, I'm in control (smiles) now, back to our discussion".
Sir Daniel ransbottom sighed:" Dickhead!". Mrs petal Peters looks up to Lord Mandelson for the next action in play when she asked: "So, we should wait without any advice in what to do next. By the way, the phrase Sthe girl is almost due" still means nothing to us? Who is this girl anyway? This is really becoming a major puzzle brewing a bigger problem".
"I have no idea about that mystery or who the girl may be but I guess In time, the answer will be shown to us", said Lord Mandelson Henry while he beats the armrest of his chair restlessly.
I watched closely as the council ended their meeting. They lept towards the door into the dark night. My father joined them as he felt detached from the pleasure of his own house. The house gave him no happiness again.
What gave my father joy was dead. After the burial of my mom, he and I lost connection. He rarely stays at home. His bed has been so clean that not even an ant can see any crumbs to pick up there. In time, I realised he has found a new home: The bar and that was where he was headed to.
I silently closed the door. I went up to my room to sleep. I laid on the bed to sleep then the council's discussion hit me. I recalles the infromation. I began to think about what was really going on in Sandroville.
Few days later...
It was a sunny day in sandroville. Today, the sun shown mercy on us. I went to the market to get some eateries for supper even though it was sunny, the grounds were still wet from the rain of last night. The roads were quite unpleasant but I had no choice.
I had to face the consequences. I walked through the mudy road like every one else. I got the hang of it after a few steps. I was almost at the end of the mudy road when suddenly, nature got to me.
PUMHMM!!... There was a loud bang on the ground. I had lost my step and fell to the ground. I fell on my tummy. Instantly, I was caught up in trance. I began to bleed. My baby danced in my belly recklessly, trying to struggle with the oppression.
I felt like i wanted to die. I looked to my right hand side, looking at people headed towards me while my eyes departed into the dark... At that moment i knew the die was cast.
My life was in trouble . My baby was in trouble but more importantly I was in real trouble right now.
