Chapter 76 - Dark Times

Erika was walking around in the capital of Bronzehell accompanied by her squad of red demon-like robots. Everywhere she went NPC's were treating her with respect and Players looked at her with awe, some of the braver Players tried to ask her for some of her blood to ascend their demonic bloodline.

She then patiently stopped and let one of her guards fight against the Player that asked.

Most of the time the fight was finished withing seconds with her guard winning, but sometimes she found some Stronger Players that didn't go down immediately but fought a prolonged time with the robot.

When that happened Erika's lust for battle kicked in and she took over the battle from the robot and traded some blows with the player which literally ended every battle with a bang and a flying player. But if Erika entered the battle then she would always give out a small vial of her thinned down blood to help them ascend their bloodline.

But today something seemed different, the noise of a bustling city was quieter than usual, depressed faces and people in rags filled the streets. Erika knew what these signs meant another war was upon them and dark times would follow.

She remembered her childhood filled with carnage and destruction, the hunger moving her through the alleys and the neverending pain that lost family members leave inside of you.

All these things were dark omens foreboding the creation of the darkest of all governments based on social Darwinism.

Something she fought her whole life to eradicate was now coming back in this game, but this time she was ready! This time she had friends that shared her burden.

Erika would do everything that it takes to end this madness.

When she finally found her resolve she yelled:

"Everyone dark times are upon us, war is upon us! But we have time to prepare, built more houses, built defenses. No refugee shall sleep under the stars. Let's defend the most important things that were given to us...OUR FREEDOM...and...OUR DIGNITY!"

Her words flew through the streets and nobody dared to speak, and when the people looked at the blood-red figure of Erika they didn't see an Apostle of death clad in blood. They the Sun crawling over the horizon as a new day dawns in red light, reminding them that no matter how long the dark times will prolong there will always be light afterward...

... And Erika was right dark times were upon them Mephisto still had weak political power over his kingdom but to secure his standing he condemned all nonhuman races as weak and unworthy, he declared that the humans were the supreme race and any other race should be eradicated or enslaved.

At first, the nonhumans laughed about the King but soon thousands of people fled from the kingdom after laws were passed that allowed the humans to do anything to nonhumans, many were raped, tortured, robbed or killed. Some villages were even eradicated. Even other humans were hanged when the tried to protect their nonhuman friends.  Many lives were destroyed during those times.

The dark omens could be seen by those that were familiar with them, but nobody expected that this war that was about to break out in this game would later be found in textbooks and taught at school after the AIs became a normal part of life and real citizens of the real world...

...Scrappy was several days on sea already he found new islands and found new things that he had to identify as scrap. He felt like dying before he did that. He collected some more ore, took some herbs too and even killed another beast and took its hide. After that, he chopped down some more trees and reinforced his raft and carried on to find a way back home to the massive amounts of scrap that were waiting for him because who would collect them if he wasn't there?

While he was sailing his raft he put all his scrap in a small compartment he created inside of the raft. Suddenly after several hours, the raft ran aground, Scrappy was back on the main Continent. He left the raft to look around and was spotted by some humans that used scrap as clothes and wielded sticks with scrap attached to It. Scrappy felt like he was in heaven, he started sprinting only the scrap in his eyes when suddenly a net was thrown over him and he couldn't move anymore.

The humans took him with them and brought scrappy to a city which must have a mouthwatering amount of scrap inside.

He was brought to a giant stone building before a pale human clad in a blue gown and full of golden scrap.

When the man saw Scrappy he quickly walked over and said while seductively stroking scrappy's body:  "Fantastic...this form...this color...this functionality. The soldiers that found it shall be rewarded handsomely."

As he was stroked by this human Scrappy felt that he didn't want the scrap the man was wearing anymore, it seemed tainted to him and he just wanted to get away from this human...
