"So you ARE in a relationship." Yu Shi Huang's words sounded like a fact, rather than just stating it. Hearing her mom, Xiu Mei paused before the words completely registered in her mind.
"I'm not!" She retorted within 0.5 seconds.
She was perfectly single. Alone. Self-partnered. Not dating anyone. Period.
How did her mom come up with that idea?
"Right?" Her mom's head titled a little like she was thinking about something.
"I'm telling the truth!"
"I didn't say you were lying."
"And you didn't say you were believing me either!" Xiu Mei argued. She quickly took a deep breath after realizing that she was too overwhelmed by her feelings that she was already standing from her seat with both her hands on the table. She was hovering halfway through the table as she faced her mom.
"Okay, listen to me."
She took a deep breath before continuing, "Mr.Lu and I are neither dating nor engaged at all. We're not involved in any romantic relationship. AT. ALL."
