Chapter 2 - The Cleaner

Tess marked 5 silver pieces off on Gawan's payroll, for any future incidents that would most likely occur. Tess yawned looking at his small sundial on the inside of the shop. 'It's only 8 and yet I'm already tired of today.' Bells started ringing, indicating that an announcement at the town square was to be made. Tess shrugged, "Eh, might as well go, Cleaner's gonna have the shop closed anyways." He stood up and made his way outside, he turned around and placed his hand on the door casting a sealing enchantment. A small blue screen appeared on the door. 'Gawan's got the key.'

Tess stepped forward, as a gust of wind swept through the street. 'Oh. It's a bit chilly' Tess thought, "Casting heat enchantment." Tess said out loud, pulling his shirt as he did so. Steam gathered underneath his feet before shooting up into his shirt and disappearing. Tess then crouched down touching his shoes. "Real speedy hours," Tess said enchanting his shoes with a speed boost. He jumped up, got down into a sprinting position and flew down the street, a trail of dust following quickly behind him. 'We've really gotta clean the streets, there's so much dust.'

The bells rang once more signaling the beginning of the announcement. Tess came to a screeching halt as he rounded the corner, catching himself inches away from slamming into a wall. He saw the crowd of people gathered around a stage that was badly set up. A woman stood atop the stage, She held up a small cone that had a misty orange lining. "Attention all citizens and adventurers. Currently, there's an undead horde ravaging one of our neighboring towns. We believe that we may be next in its path. We are planning to assault the horde to lessen its numbers. We ask that citizens that don't wish to participate in the raid stay indoors and those who do please sign up here," She said as she pulled out a small bag. "10 silver pieces for each participating member."

Her voice echoed, there were a few seconds of silence before a small mob of people split away to go inside city hall and sign the sign-up form. "Well, this might be good for business," Tess said heading back to the shop.
