"So everyone, this is the new student. Now introduce yourself to the class, would you."
While thinking about what to say, someone stood up and yelled through the classroom.
"Teacher, even though he is a new student, he was at least 10 minutes too late. You can't just let him go unpunished."
Daesin looked the person straight in the eyes. 'Ah, she's kinda cute.'
It was a girl, she had a side ponytail and from what could be seen, she wasn't relatively tall. She had black hair with the tips dyed red. Also quite a good body. People might say that she was a cute girl, however, she's got a strong attitude. From the tape around her arm he noticed that she was most likely the so-called class representative.
"Silence and let the young man speak," Michael said. "His punishment will come soon enough."
Michael nodded to Daesin, signaling that he could speak.
"Well, first things first. My name is Daesin, I'm 16 years old. This is my first day ever at a school. Before this, I always got homeschooled, but some events lead to another and before I knew I had to attend a real school. I'm excited to meet you all, and I hope we will work great together. Now let's all become great friends." That's what Michael had heard, but that didn't come out of Daesins mouth.
"Hi, my name is Daesin, let's get along well." He said. "So, where is my seat?"
Michael looked Daesin in the eyed with a dumb and then a serious look. He was pissed. Daesin stared at him, wondering what he had done wrong.
"Daesin, let's go outside for a bit."
"O-Okay?"
"Students, read through paragraph 3 from chapter 7 of your history books."
When the door closed behind Daesin and Michael, almost the whole class started to laugh.
"Dude, did you hear him. He sounds like a wimp who's trying to be cool."
"The best of all was when you yelled at the teacher, Mel. You may be the representative, but don't try to speak as if you are the leader. Everyone knows that Kale is the real leader. Hahaha, you're merely a pawn." Said a boy whose name is Randall. "Don't bother with him too much. Starting from tomorrow he would dream he never came to this school."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Michael, what is wrong?"
"Daesin, you want to know why I'm angry? Listen good, boy. I want you to live a normal life."
"Wha-What? This is so random…"
"You deserve to have a normal life. Too hell, you must have a normal life from now on. I almost died for this. Now listen, I won't keep you from killing monsters. If you ever cross a monster, you decide what you want to do with it, but it isn't your life anymore. This, what is happening right now, will be your life from now on. I can't have you living in the Underworld, not now that there is a war going on-"
(Author Note- I've shortened Underground World to Underworld. Otherwise, it's quite a mouthful)
"What! What war? Nobody ever told me about a war!"
"Listen Daesin, this is too dangerous. I can't risk my only apprentice dying. You are a Deathbringer in training. You have the potential to become one of the best easily without abilities. I can't have you targeted by the Shadow organizations. I've made sure to destroy every piece of information I have about you. If they ever notice how good you are without having any abilities, they will come for you."
"Why are you keeping me out of this?"
"Shut up, promise me. Promise you won't be any part of this!" Michael sounded quite desperate.
"Tell me fir-"
"JUST PROMISE ME, BOY!"
"Yes, sir!" He said with quite a sad look on his face.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Ahahahaha, look in the hallway. He's getting yelled at. Did he try to be cool again? Ahahhahaha," laughed Randall.
"Shut up and just watch what will happen." Said someone in the corner. Everybody looked at the person saying it. It was Kale. Two minutes ago, he wasn't even in the class and now he sat there without someone noticing him coming in.
"Y-Yes, sir." After that Randall was quiet.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Michael, do you think they heard us?" Daesin said as he pointed at the window of his classroom.
"No, I've cast a barrier so no one could eavesdrop."
"You know, arcane energy is something really weird. It's not known by the world, but it still provides all the natural wonders we have here. Storms, sudden snowfalls, weird illusions in the sky, earthquakes, but everyone still thinks they are wonders by nature. The whole reason we can live on this planet is because of the arcane energy." Daesin looked with sparkling eyes at Michael. He always looked at him like this when they spoke about arcane energy.
"Well, don't look at me like this. Maybe one day, you might be able to use arcane energy. But for now, let's go inside."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole class was quiet when the two came in. Michael noticed Kale sitting there. After a week of skipping classes, he finally came.
Kale looked at Daesin and then stood up. He stared at him with a boring look in his eyes.
"What's your name, if I may ask?"
"It's Daesin. What is your name?" He asked back.
"Kale. Let's get along, I suppose. But boy, don't get on my wrong side." After giving the warning he sat down and just kept staring to the front.
'I don't like his attitude,' Daesin thought. He didn't even try to respond to him.
"Sir, where can I sit?"
"You can sit in the empty seat next to Melody. Ahh, right. It's the girl who told me to punish you."
Daesin walked to the empty seat. As he walked to the seat, he made eye contact with Melody. She quickly looked away, but you could easily see the blush on her face. 'Is she ashamed?' He wondered.
He stopped next to her and turned to her. He held out his hand.
"Let's get along, Melody."
She changed her posture. Now she looked straight in his eyes. Everyone in the class stared at them. Daesin waited for the handshake, but Melody couldn't do anything. It looked like she was in some kind of trance.
"Are you okay Melody?" Daesin asked. "Did I do something wrong?"
"U-Uhh, oh no. You didn't do anything wrong."
She also held her hand out. Ready to shake his hand, but a paper ball flew towards her hand. Right before the impact, it was grasped out of the air and thrown back.
"Auchhh, f*ck. Who did that?!" Randall screamed.
It all went so fast that nobody noticed the fact that the paper ball was sent back to the owner. Only a couple of students, including Kale and Mel, and Michael knew what happened.
"Oh, shit. Did he really just do that?" Sounded from somewhere in the class.
Everyone else who hadn't noticed wanted to know what happened, but judging from the reactions they kinda knew what happened. Daesin grasped the paper ball out of midair and threw it back at the owner.
Randall looked at Daesin. He opened his mouth but hesitated. Everyone was expecting him to say something. Because the paper ball was thrown back at him.
"You just declared war," he finally said to Daesin.
That's when Michael stepped in.
"Haha, you kids. Stop this or I will make you all pay." He smacked Daesin at the back of his head and whispered. "Continue making friends. Don't pay too much attention to the small fry."
Daesin then continued his gesture towards Melody. He saw that she was still holding her hand out. He then grabbed and shook her hand.
"Let's get along!" He said with high spirits.
"Y-Yes, let's get along!" She reacted precisely the same way as him.
That's quite a change of mood, but he managed to at least get one friend. He then continued what he wanted to do at first. Sitting at his table.
"Good Daesin. Now get your history book. And read through Chapter 7, paragraph 3."
Daesin did exactly as what was told. In the meantime, he felt an angry gaze towards him.
