Chapter 1 - Chapter 1-Don't lose your present to your past

An indifferent scent, the dark depths, the rhythm of waves makes my eardrums shiver. The fluctuation in the temperature of the water was evident as I became closer to the bottom. A reel of memories played in my tired head that included both the sad and the gleeful times. I was once again recalling my whole life starting from my childhood to the time when I came to this bridge. I was happy as there was no one who would cry once I am gone and as my senses slowly started to blur, I prayed to God to never be born as omega again.

Present-day

"Thank you for calling, Alex. I'm feeling less nervous now. I am sure to give my best on the first day and yes yes I will surely join you guys for dinner. But Is Taehyung hyung alright with that?" I giggled as I held the phone in one hand while my other hand was busy preparing my bag. "Of course, I am not but since Alex wanted to congratulate you on your first day of the job so I agreed. This is only for Alex." "Hyung, that's not the right way of speaking."

"What? I was just being honest."

"Shhh! Now. Go get ready, will you?"

"I am I am."

I could hear them teasing each other and it was perfect to eradicate my nervousness. "Ok, ok, I get it. I will reach on time. So, you guys should also stop, and once again thanks guys for cheering me up," I smiled as I hung up the phone. Alex, who is also an omega, is not only my best friend but he is like a brother to me and Taehyung Hyung is his alpha mate. They both love each other unconditionally but whenever I am around I don't somehow feel left out. Yes, our bond is that strong.

"Alright! Let's prove to the world our importance." I waved goodbye to the orphanage children and started heading towards my destination.

The world is slowly changing and the impact is quite visible. Today is my first day of work at a multi-national company. I was grateful that I completed my studies and now I am even more grateful as I was able to get a job.

"Good morning, everyone. Please welcome our new team member, Kiro. He will be joining us from today and Kiro you will be under the care of Mr. Jooin."

I bowed in front of everyone and introduced myself. Then my team manager introduced me to every colleague personally and everyone seemed happy to have me as a part of their team.

There were times when I doubted my existence but today sitting with all these people I feel happy to have another chance. To be honest, I interviewed for at least 6-7 companies but everyone rejected me. They didn't state the cause directly but inside I knew that it was related to my gender. The new omega policy sure proved to be a boon but still, every change needs time, and the mindset of people can't be changed in just a few days. But a few days back, when I lost all hope. I finally got a call from this multinational company and they informed me that I had passed the interview. I rechecked with them if they have checked the details carefully since I didn't believe at first but then my doubt was cleared when I got the appointment letter. At first, I was hesitant to take the offer but who knew that fate would be so cruel and land me onto the entrance of dark past again.

"Congratulations Kiro..."

I saw Alex along with the orphanage children. The whole hall was nicely decorated with a cake in the center.

"You guys rented this whole place? Seriously?" My eyes started to blur as I became teary and the children started pulling me while urging me to cut the cake.

"Alex! Isn't this too much", I looked at him, and then I looked at all the dishes besides. "Come on! this is nothing. Once you started getting paid, then everything's on you. Also, Hyung will be a little late as he had to visit the hospital urgently," he spoke as he started setting the table while the children switched on the TV and started fighting for the remote.

"The hospital?," I questioned as I snatched the remote from their hands and asked them to reconcile.

"He told me that he was visiting a CEO colleague whose condition was serious," Alex sighed as he saw the children still not reconciling and stood up to talk to them.

"Can you adjust the glasses Kiro and don't give them the remote back," he stood up and walked towards the children.

I nodded and adjusted the glasses. Then I shifted the channels on TV and halted on the XX news channel.

"We are reporting from the HH hospital and it is said that the condition of the CEO of YY company is critical. Currently, the position was empty but it came to our notice that his son will be taking over the position starting tomorrow." the anchor spoke.

"Huh! What happened? Suddenly your skin looks pale," Alex who was now sitting beside me and had his phone towards his ear.

"Hey, Kiro, Kiro. Are you all right? This CEO is from your company, right? Maybe Hyung went to see him at the same hospital," he then kept the phone down and looked towards me worryingly. Holding my hands he assured me that things will be fine and patted me. His phone then vibrated and it was a call from Hyung. "I will take this one, I guess Hyung is coming now," he spoke as he picked his phone and started talking while moving away at a distance. Meanwhile, I changed the channel and put on some good music to divert my mind.

"Hey, angels sorry to keep you waiting," after some time, Taehyung Hyung's voice made all the kids rush towards him. I turned around and saw their happy faces.

Yes, this is my life now. I don't have to bother myself with the past anymore. These people are my family and I am happy to be a member as well. The youngest came running towards me who is just 6 years old. "Hyung, Hyung, Don't be sad. I like you more and I will always play with you, even when I grow up," his soft and tiny hands extended towards me and I embraced him. "Yes, yes, I know I can rely on you, dear." I patted the little child called Edward and his warm embrace made me realize the importance of my existence.
