Mane's figure easily went past the reconstructed gate. The young Supreme's pace, though leisurely, was much greater than what the average Noble could manage. In less than five seconds he had left Amalgamation so far behind him that it was a small dot in the distance. But his journey was meant to end here. For Sasha pawed at him once he was at the place she wanted him to be at. And Mane furrowed his brows in doubt.
He could see nothing; he could smell nothing; and worst of all, he sensed nothing. Mane was at a stage where nothing could be hidden from him. His abilities as a Scholar were at their near-peak and so were his abilities as a Spiritualist. Logically speaking, there should be no one in this world capable of evading his senses or throwing him off for that matter. Usually Mane would have gone past this place and searched for the actual meeting place. But Sasha was adamant. The Nether Beast was confident that this was the place. So Mane descended from the sky above and graced the earth below with his presence. His eyes narrowed into small slits as he sought to find what was missing. His blue pupils span swiftly in their sockets as their color and form were swapped for another – a more useful power.
"True Eyes"
Like beacons of light in a dark night, True Eyes swiftly pierced through the cloud of obstruction in Mane's way and revealed what was hidden beneath. Empowered by the rich power of the Supreme and fortified by the senses of a Scholar, True Eyes saw what was meant to be hidden and relayed the information to the one who defeated its former master.
"I see," Mane's expression was neutral, almost like he had discovered nothing. But that was far from the truth. For Mane had seen behind the invisible veil and had found what was meant to be found. Internally, the young Supreme's emotions were highly unstable. And that was because when he saw through the veil, he had found the figures of three people – a middle-aged man with a sly demeanor, an old woman with a dignified air, and a woman who looked young enough to be his sister but had the air of ancient wisdom al around her.
The old woman was someone Mane had no recollection of. And why would he when he had never met her before? It should have been the same for the other two, but it was not. For when Mane peered through the veil and gazed upon the countenance of the two, his bloodline skipped a beat. He could hear Basileus screeching in excitement as his Glow thumped in a way Mane had never felt before. And the swords on his back- Night Mare and Night's Kiss – trembled strongly when he gazed at the woman. It was almost as if they were being summoned! And there was a strange sense of familiarity the two gave Mane. It was almost as if he was facing people he knew!
The man smiled when Mane looked at him, and then he waved his hand at the young Supreme and gave him a small wink. Then he mouthed out, "Break the illusion yourself."
"Alright," Mane obliged and summoned his power. He wasn't going to use brute force to find a way through that thing. He would use his Soul to find a way through. Besides, the young Supreme felt that it wouldn't be easy to break through the veil with brute force.
Within the barrier, Komfo Anokye still had the sly smile on his face as he watched Mane go to work. Next to him was his sister and Mane's grandmother Keira. The Matriarch was about a meter away from the two. She had a small frown on her face when Komfo Anokye refused to undo the barrier.
"What are you doing?" she asked. "Just undo your barrier and let him through. We cannot stay here for long."
The Matriarch couldn't understand Basileus's decision. Although they were hidden from view, they couldn't stay here for too long. She had responsibilities and so did they. They had already wasted much time waiting for Mane to awaken. They shouldn't be wasting more.
"I need to see how far he has come," Komfo Anokye chuckled and said.
"See how far he has come? He killed a god! How much further do you want him to be?!" the Matriarch's eyelids twitched in annoyance upon hearing Komfo Anokye's reply. For though the one who terrorized the other races was strong enough to defeat gods as well, the child before them was not far away from reaching the level of Basileus. There was no need to test someone who had proven himself to the entire world as a God Slayer.
"I am not testing his combat strength," Komfo Anokye shook his head and said.
"You mean…" it didn't take long for the Matriarch to understand what was going on. Few understood the siblings next to her like she did. And she knew what the origins of Komfo Anokye's power were. It was because she had such knowledge that she was aware that this power appeared once in every generation. However, in the past there were several youngsters this power could choose from, so the odds of it appearing in a generation – though not exceptionally high – were not that bad either. But since Komfo Anokye had assumed this power, it hadn't appeared again. Now that there were fewer and fewer Weapon Masters, it was going to be very difficult to find one who possessed the power of Basileus.
Ruth turned to look at Keira who remained silent and want saying a word. The sister of Basileus had eyes only for the boy. And thought there was excitement in those eyes, there was expectation and hope as well. Clearly, she was on her brother's side and was eager to see what the boy was capable of doing.
The three remained silent, watching Mane walk around the barrier whilst looking for a weak spot with True Eyes fully functional.
"He is taking too long," Keira sighed. It seemed her grandson hadn't inherited the talent of her brother when it came to Spiritual Power. For if he had, he should have broken the barrier by now.
"No," Komfo Anokye grinned brightly. As an inheritor of Basileus himself, he could sense the power Mane possessed. He could feel Basileus in the boy. And though Mane didn't need the power of Basileus here, it burned so bright that Komfo Anokye was excited.
"He would be taking too long if he was just looking for a way to break the barrier. But your grandson seeks a way to breach the barrier without destroying it. And it seems he has."
Just when Komfo Anokye was done speaking, the barrier shimmered slightly, and Mane came through it. Once the young man with the monkey on his head and cat on his shoulder had entered the barrier, it brightened up again and was restored.
The Matriarch stepped back when Mane appeared. She understood that this was a stage for family, and her pestering would have to come later.
Mane looked at Komfo Anokye and Keira with a cool gaze as he walked towards them. His eyes returned to their usual colors and his power was concealed once again. His expression caused Keira to tremble slightly. Her eyes were filled with many untold emotions, but mostly they were filled with regret. For she felt that her own grandson didn't recognize her. But she was wrong. For Mane stopped moving when he was just a meter away from them. And to both Keira and Komfo Anokye's surprise, he bowed before them and said,
"Mane Harbinger, son of Alexis of Asgard and Ray, son of Olympus, greets his ancestors!"
