Chapter 157 - The Spy Part I

"It's like I am some sort of magnet for gods." Mane remarked bitterly. He was a mere mortal, yet there were two gods interested in him. One of them wanted to use him as a strengthening elixir, and the other just wanted his life.

"It is because of who you are, Hidden Cloak" Indra remarked. His words enlightened the Supreme. He finally understood why Seth was after him. Indra mentioned that this god wanted him dead because of the organization he represents. Mane knew the organization in question now that he had heard Indra's subsequent words. His identity as Hidden Cloak was threatening to only those of the Dark Kingdom. This identity was useless anywhere else in the world.

"I thought Dark Kingdom was a small organization. How is it that they have a god behind them?" Mane pondered aloud.

"Not a god- gods" Indra dropped a bombshell on the poor boy. "So you're saying that the Dark Kingdom is far stronger than it appears." Mane sighed.

"It is. The Dark Kingdom is a Universe Level Organization with branches everywhere. There is almost no planet in the universe that hasn't been tainted by this evil organization. Zandor is a world hidden from the rest of the cosmos, yet even she has fallen victim to the abuse of the Dark Kingdom." Indra solemnly stated.

The revelation stunned Mane. The organization he wasn't even taking seriously was one that spanned the entire universe. This seemingly small organization had such deep roots that even a world like Zandor which was hidden from the gods had been caught in its web. But more than anything else, he was worried. He wasn't worried for himself. There were already two gods after him. Right now he cared little for the ones that would join the already muddy waters. His worry was for his friend. The friend who had left his side to infiltrate the Dark Kingdom. His friend who was so deep in his undercover mission that he hadn't even met the other members of the Silver Wolves team. The only information Abe and the others had on the mystery member was that he was older than them by a few years. It was through him that they got all their information. It was because of him that the actions of the Dark Kingdom were never hidden from Mane's eyes. It was because of this unknown member that they had been able to foil the plots of the Dark Kingdom over and over again. Mane had never worried about him. When he expressed his intentions to join the Dark Kingdom years ago, Mane didn't stop him. In the blonde boy's eyes, his friend was strong enough to fend off anyone on Zandor; the Dark Kingdom shouldn't be a problem for him- or so he thought at the time.

The last member of the Silver Wolves was the most talented amongst the group- Mane excluded of course. His talent was great. His masters had even stated once that his talent was greater than some of the geniuses of the higher realms. It was surprising that someone with such high grade talent was born on a lower world like Zandor. Not only was he a talented wielder, he was also an exceptional alchemist. He was a talent being nurtured by 8th himself. He was the only one that had met the masters, and the only one they truly approved of. And Mane knew why he was so exceptional. Unlike Abe and the others, he had tapped into his potential. Mane didn't know whether he had explored the full extent of his talent yet, but he surely had access to the energy that lay dormant in many other Zandorians.

As mentioned earlier, there was a mysterious type of energy hidden in Zandorians. It was an energy that was strong and domineering. Although Mane wasn't able to see anything at all even after using spirit scan, he knew in his heart that this energy was amazing. Unlike other Zandorians, the last member of the Silver Wolves had awakened this energy. That was why his talent was so exceptional. Mane was certain that the others would be just as capable once they also stimulated the dormant power in them. Unfortunately, Mane didn't know how to do that. Even his friend had no idea how he had awakened his potential. All he remembered was that he awakened his bloodline far earlier than most- when he was seven. He experienced another awakening a few years later. So Mane believed that the dormant power was similar to bloodline power, and it awakened just like bloodlines did. He called it the Second Awakening. But till date all his efforts to discover how to awaken this power had proved futile. Even his alchemist buddy was experimenting always, trying to develop a drug that could do the trick. He also hadn't seen any success yet.

Mane didn't tell the others though. He didn't want to fill them with hope only for it to be snatched away cruelly by the hands of fate. He'd rather work it out with the alchemist, and see if they could solve the puzzle on their own. But for them to continue working together, Mane would have to find a way to tell the spy to leave. Their means of communication made that difficult. To protect his identity, their communication was a one-way one. He could send Mane information, but Mane couldn't contact him in any way. Mane had to warn him. If there were gods in this organization, then he was in grave danger. After all, Mane wouldn't be naïve enough to believe that the gods didn't know of the little rat in their organization.

"Your friend would be fine. They wouldn't kill him just yet." Indra waved lightly as he assured Mane that his worries were unfounded.

"You knew?" Mane asked surprised. It dawned on him that Indra had been watching him longer than he thought. "Of course" the god replied.

"Why do you say he isn't in danger? If there are gods involved they would have definitely seen through his actions." Mane said.

"His actions had been noted long ago. Yet they didn't kill him. They allowed him to continue with his sneaky activities without laying a hand on him, which means that they need him." Indra stated. Mane nodded at his words, and breathed out a sigh of relief. He was so worried that he didn't see the obvious flaw in his thought process.

"Besides, only one of their gods is on Zandor. Apart from Seth, no one else is here. And even he was summoned only a few years ago." Indra continued.

"He was summoned?" Mane was a little relieved that there was only one god to worry about currently. After all, who didn't like it when their problems became a bit simpler?

"Indeed. He is an unpredictable god. But he has a flaw just like everyone else." Indra declared. "Which flaw is that" Mane wasn't going to give up the chance to learn more about his enemies.

"He loves to control talented people. To put those of talent under his wings is his hobby. The Dark Kingdom is an organization that serves the wishes of the Dark Sword. At least, that was how it was when it first began. However, after several millennia, the Dark Sword sought allies upon realizing that it couldn't do it all alone. A few gods joined the cause. The Dark God Seth was one of these gods. Unfortunately, the society of gods do not know this. If they knew that someone as dangerous as Seth had joined hands with the Dark Sword they would be livid. They wouldn't sit still any longer. After all, an artefact on its own poses no true danger, but Seth is an unpredictably dangerous entity."

Mane was learning a lot today. It was his first time hearing about this Dark Sword. He thought it was the name of a person- a moniker. Luckily, Indra's explanation was so clear that he now knew that it wasn't.
