Sasha sat on the hospital bed silently and began to think and reflect back to her childhood.
*reflection to when she was 8 years old*
"Mom, I want to be just like my sister when I grow up, I want to become a professional athlete just like her!! You think I can do it.?" Sasha asked her mother in pure excitement. "No Sasha, I'm sorry but you are not built for that, your to fat. Your not as beautiful and your to slow, leave the success to your sister., you will never be like her, she's better than you." Her mother replied. Now Sasha's mother was a single mother who didn't really care much about Sasha, She struggled with her grades, she had a hard time making friends and was always compared to her older sister. Every time when her sister came home. She had to watch her mother want to know all the new updates and stories her sister had to share. Watching her mother Completely ignoring Sasha showing little to no interest in her. Her mother's name is Zoey and her older sister is named Katie.
Sasha frowned and sighed immediately putting her head down. "Ok, so what am I good at and I'll make you proud," Sasha replied hoping to find a pleasant response from her mother. "All your good at is getting on my nerves, your annoying and ask me constant questions when you know I'm busy, Sasha you will never be good at anything. Now go clean your room will ya." She replied, Sasha, felt hurt and disappointed. She turned around and ran to her room and shut the door. She immediately began to cry and jumped onto her bed. She felt defeated and wondered if she was good at anything at all or just trash and a waste of space. She wept for a few hours silently into her pillow before passing out asleep. Forgetting about cleaning her room.
Shortly after she fell asleep her mother had walked into her room. "Sasha your sister is..." she stopped and looked around and became furious. "SASHA." Her mother then shouted causing Sasha to jump and become startled awake. Sasha sat up immediately and looked at her mother. "I'm sorry I fell asleep I was tired," Sasha told her and immediately began to clean her room. Her mother glared Sasha down angry and watched her for a few seconds. "And you want to be successful, you can't even keep your room clean." She told her. "Your sister is here, when you're done, come out and welcome her, she's got 5 trophies to show us." She told Sasha before slamming the door. Sasha stopped and looked at her door and began to cry. "Your right, I really am a failure." She told herself before standing up and putting her toys and clothing away. About 20 minutes later she finished. She headed towards her door and silently opened her door. She heard laughter coming from the living room. She peeked around the door and saw her mother asking her sister many questions, giving Katie all of her undivided attention. She then noticed a male sitting next to Katie. Sasha blinked and walked out and stood there. "Hi Katie, welcome home.." Sasha quietly spoke and smiled. However, Katie and Zoey didn't respond or look at her. They kept talking and acted as if they didn't notice her. The male looked over and noticed Sasha and smiled silently and nodded. "Well hi there, you must be Sasha." The man replied and confused Sasha. "Uh hi." Katie looked at Sasha and stopped talking. " oh yeah that's just my little sister. But anyway mom I was wondering how you feel about me and you taking a week vacation before my wedding!!!." Zoey looked at Sasha and back at Katie and smiled. "Absolutely baby!!! I'll find a babysitter for your sister." The male stood up and walked over to Sasha and smiled he then knelt down and tilted his head. "I'm Jake, your sister's fiancée." He told her kindly. "Your sister is so amazing, how old are you? He asked Sasha.
Sasha became shy and looked at him, with her dull eyes slightly having a small glow she spoke up. "eight years old, can I go to the trip to?." She asked. "Well of c..." jake began to reply finding himself immediately cut off. "absolutely not, she's too young and she's in trouble for bad grades." Her mother replied. Sasha looked at her mother and looked at Jake then turned around and ran back into her room. Jake sighed and stood up looking at Zoey. "Why does she look so sad?." He asked before he walked to the door and stepped outside for a smoke. Katie sighed and looked down. "Sasha really knows how to manipulate doesn't she mom?" Zoey nodded and looks down. "Don't worry, it won't work for long. I'll deal with her when you two lay down for the night. She needs to understand it's not about her. This is about you?" Zoey told Katie.
Sasha sat on her bed silently looking down at her floor and heard something coming from her window. She stepped down from her bed and saw flashing lights coming from her window. She walked over and saw an ambulance for the first time. She saw two men excepting someone's body on a moving bed and pushed into the van with lights. She became curious about what they were doing. That's when she wanted to know more about what she was seeing. She then ran out of her room and ran towards her mother. "Mom, I wanna be someone who drives a van w it h flashing lights!!!." She told her mom in excitement. Before finding herself slapped hard. She stopped and looked at her mother and held her cheek. Jakes eyed had widened and felt confused at why he witnesses what he just saw. Katie looked at Sasha and glared at her angrily. Zoey looked at Sasha furiously and screamed at her. "Don't you ever run out here again to tell me a silly dream you have! Especially when Your sister was telling me about her last trophy. Now go to your room and thank about what you just did!"
Sasha looked at everyone and looked down in shame and immediately turned around and ran back to her room holding her cheek. "What the hell was that for.?" Jake asked and stood up to his feet. "Why are you treating an eight your old as a burden?" He asked and got frustrated.
"Baby, don't concern yourself with her. She's doing all that to manipulate you and make you feel bad because she's jealous nothing is going her way right now..". Katie replied to Jake. Zoey stood up and sighed. "Let me go talk to her for a second. I'll go apologize." She said before walking to her room. Zoey opened the door and walked in closing the door. Zoey walked over to Sasha and grabbed her shirt and yanked her forward. "What is your problem? You're really pissing me off kid!! I hate you. Matter fact just get out and don't come home." She told her firmly and walked to the window pulling Sasha along. Sasha became scared and frightened. "I'm sorry mom, please I'm sorry," Sasha told her. "Leave! Get out!!." Zoey opened the window and lifted Sasha up by her arm and pushed her through the window. Sasha fell flat on her face onto the ground and pushed herself up pleading for her mother to let her back in. Sasha shortly had a small bag of clothes her blanket and pillow thrown at her face with the window immediately shutting afterwards. Sasha wept for about thirty minutes before picking up her things and running down the street.
Zoey walked back out like nothing happened and smiled closing the door. "So everything is fine now. She was just tired so I got her to sleep. Anyway now where were we." She asked and sat down. Jake, however, felt something was off and glanced at Zoey and then Katie. He watched how they were beginning to talk again and felt uneasy.
Sasha ran holding her belongings while she wept. She then bumped into someone that will change her life for the rest of her life. She fell back on her bottom and looked up. "I'm so sorry."
A girl about the same age as her looked at her." Oh hey, are you ok? I'm sorry I was in your way."A girl asked her and offered her hand. This girl was named Asha.
