We approached out of our inn with all of our stuff intact. I was stuck in the bathroom and changed into some good clothes. I had an extra pair of tactical pants and a shirt. Everything was with me including my bag and weapons. I also put a mask to cover the lower part of my face and some sports goggles on my forehead just in case we needed to go anywhere. But to my surprise, the power went out along with the water. Even if there was water and supplies running around the area it didn't actually mean that there was enough to go around. Ever since the Laputa appeared at earth, the supplies were rationed to the point that there were several price hikes in order to feed the population. There were even various schedules of when power should be cut along irrigation. For many people, it gave others the initiative to head out.
Outside was my group along with Richard and Magna. I walked downstairs as I was greeted with a ham and cheese sandwich. "So what are we doing today?" I asked. "We're gonna sign you into a guild." He told us. Richard then gives us a few pamphlets of the guilds well known here. A guild is an association in which the a group of individuals are that specialize to do certain task given by individuals around a certain location. In other words guilds are clubs that provide jobs requested by the people. At some cases the government ask for these request while other guild put in jobs for other guilds to do for them. There are various kinds of guilds. There was an exploration guild where most of the jobs rely on travel and gathering of information, a mercenary guild that does bounty hunting and provides security work, and a merchant guild that is in charge of buying and selling of various items. There were many types of other guilds as well but it varies on the person's skill set.
It alone was as if we were in a video game. I could actually remember all the JRPGs that I played when I was a kid. This would have actually been a dream for many geeky teens. But honestly it would be a nightmare if one false step would lead to death. "I'm so psyched! I feel like I'm my own video game character! Do we have our own job classes too?" Rebecca asked out of excitement. "Well yeah, we got the regular job classes like rogue, mage, warrior...but it really depends on which class you wish to join." Richard pointed out.
"I just want a peaceful job that makes me make stuff and less fighting." Tyrell mumbled.
"You can always join a merchants or craftsman's guild. They have some calm jobs there." Magna suggested.
"I'm probably joining a hunter's guild. I like my excitement but there's just an amount I would rather prefer." Mr. Williams humbly said.
"You can always get a hunter class. A crossbow would fit you nice." Richard suggested.
"Crossbow? Ha! That was close to my first gun!" Mr. Williams laughed.
All was excited to join their guilds. I was pretty pumped myself. The only problem was I didn't actually know where to go myself. Eventually we reached the Rose Line. The Rose Line happened to be a street where lots of guilds happened to be stationed. Most of these guilds were all assigned at the Trium Circle for refugees to be part of the country's service. But as our group walked around, Tyrell accidentally bumped into a large sign. It was a bulletin board to a guild called 'The Gentle Hand'. It was a craftsman's guild with an insignia of a open palm and a feather at the center. At the bulletin board it said, 'Welcome, in need of new members. Offering job classes for Craftsmen, druids, and alchemist. Ask the receptionist up front for more details.' "These jobs are support jobs." Richard says, "Most of them have jobs within the city in crafting but can be invited into parties when in need of maintenance within the group." It looked as if this was the job Tyrell was actually looking for. In regular Richard fashion, he noticed this well. He gave Tyrell a little nudge. "Go on. We'll come with you." Richard told him.
He hesitated at first but eventually, Tyrell managed to go in we went up to him shortly as we were greeted at the main hall. It was actually something far beyond what we expected. It looked bigger at the outside and the room was no bigger than a one room apartment. It was made purely out of stone and wood and was handcrafted with precision. There the receptionist noticed us looking. "Welcome to the Gentle Hand, how may I help you?" She asked. Richard then puts Tyrell up front and center. "A friend of mine wants to check out the job classes you have." Richard said.
Up from the stairs then comes a chubby curly haired man who happened to be almost the same age as Mr. Williams. "Emily, do we have new recruits?" He asked the receptionist. "Yes, looks like one of them is planning to join our guild." He then comes to notice Richard. "So what brings one of the prime members of the Hanami guild here on our lowly establishment?" The man said in a lofty manner. "Just helping out a friend of mine with a few things." Richard then pushes Tyrell to the chubby curly haired man. The man then gets a feel of his arm. "You're a bit scrawny but you got the rough hands of a Craftsman." The man says, "I'd say you make a fine blacksmith."
Tyrell then backs away. As ever, this guy was still at the same trope of feeling uncomfortable. "I don't know. I'm not one for weapons." Tyrell told the man. The chubby curly haired man scratched his head and soon laughed. He then drags Tyrell with him to the back of the room. "Haha, you be surprised what we make here!" The man laughed. We go inside with the two of them and see a giant warehouse full of staff. It was full of personnel doing a variety of things. We saw several people sewing and making cloths, carving and cutting wood to make furniture, and even large lab equipment used to make potions out of herbs and plants. We were quite impressed on the magnitude of the production of this scale. All was made to the touch. At modern times we mostly depended on machines to finish our work. But then again we're not in modern times anymore. It was a reality differing on its own. "If you like that...wait till you check the back." He told us. We were brought a stone wall covered in a leather curtain. As the curtain was lifted, it was a different setting all together. It was a dark room lit by the furnaces and forges of many metal workers. Each blacksmith was working on their own thing from various weapons and armors, to even kitchen and cooking utensils. Some were even making metal furniture and some others such as nails and bolts. All yet again built and made by hand. It was a marvel that felt as if it was brought back from the past. But looking at Tyrell, his jaw dropped.
Just like that, he was impressed. But that awe was interrupted by the sound of the guild master's cough. "So...what was your job back at the world below us?" He asked. "Mechanical engineering." Tyrell hesitantly replied. The guildmaster was in glee and patted my companion at the back. "Perfect! You would be great as a blacksmith here." The guildmaster says, "we can use a few creative minds, hopefully we can sell your wares at the market or a merchant's guild."
It was just like that Tyrell was signing up for the guild. We approached a glowing orb in the office of the guildmaster. Tyrell then pricked his finger and let a drop of blood on it. The orb glowed green and let out some kinda identification card. "Welcome to the gentle hand. I'm your guildmaster, Harvey Ferrell. Good to be working with you."
It was just like that, Tyrell found himself in a guild with his own job class of being a Craftsman class. The same as followed for Rebecca and Mr. Williams. Rebecca joined a Exploration Guild called The Winged Sandals and became part of the rogue class. Mr. Williams joined Hunting guild called Fearsome Willow. Because of his marksmanship and knowing of first aid he decided to become part of the Hunter class. All got their guild cards which was left with me not with a guild. All that is left now is fate to play its hand.
