Chapter 12 - Chapter 11

My charm had returned home as it turned back to a blank strip of paper in front of me. I did the same thing but without the bowl. It looks like it was able to listen to me telepathically. The charm works much like a drone and the use of water made it clear that it was much like a camera. But as it turns out it can be used as a projectile. I threw a plate at the air and made the bird shikigami hit it. The familiar broke through it but only for it to revert to a blank slip. I then decided to put a few books as targets and aimed them horizontally at the hall. Outside was Tyrell watching me. "Are you sure you wanna do this? You're just going to pass out again." He asked me. "Better for me to test it out now then later." I told him.

I threw a charm in the air and just like that the charm turned into a bird shikigami and shot through the book with a loud bang. Tyrell then put an awkward face as he was shocked by the power displayed. There was even a hole at the middle as proof. "Maybe you should decrease the power on that thing...Rin." Tyrell suggested. Down the stairs comes out Mr. Williams and Rebecca with some supplies. "The hell is with all this racket?" Mr. Williams asked. "I'm just testing out a new spell." I told him. I then threw two charms up in the air and shot the books with bird shikigami in a lighter speed. This time it left the books flying and only with a dent. "At least warn me first before you use it!" Tyrell shouted.

But while talking under conflict with each other, we then heard something ring. As it turns out it was a tin can trap that Mr. Williams set a while back. After the incident with Sunny we needed the building to be put with provision and countermeasures. I then summoned a bird shikigami to check what was going on. I then splashed some water on the floor and put a charm at the middle of the puddle. I see that it was the same two from awhile ago. Richard and the orc were climbing on the air escape. "Get into position!" Mr. Williams shouted. Mr. Williams' and I stand as the vanguard while the others remained behind. We got ready as the battle was about to begin.

Out of the window comes five arrows of light in amazing speed. I drew out my sword and blocked them all in a single swoop. The orc comes in and breaks through the window. Mr. Williams lets out a barrage of semi-automatic rifle fire. The orc then draws out from behind a large metal tower shield and blocks the suppressing fire. "What the hell is that even made of?!" Mr. Williams shouted as he was emptying his clip. Soon my companion runs out of bullets as all there came out was a sound of his jammed rifle. The orc comes charging with the shield as he was trying to ram us. However I delayed inevitable and turned to my demonic form at my first stage. There I stopped the charge by pushing back the shield and flicked it off to the ceiling from the green guy's arm. The shield was stuck on the ceiling as it got through the drywall. I readied my sword only to bounce back while blocking what came above me. It was Richard vaulting over the orc with a vertical slash. He then charges to me with quick speeds of his katana. My opponent's slashes were quick but not quick enough to counter. As I parried for my next attack the man drew out a revolver. I jumped back for the tower shield and pulled it out to block all the bullets. But this was just a ploy as the orc comes to swing his metal club. The hit was so strong that it forced me back when I was at the air. I landed at the wall behind me but the orc showed no mercy. While I was down he kept on swinging his large metal club at me. I was barely holding up my ground as I kept on blocking the attacks. Chips of the shield started to crack. But the last hit didn't meet the shield as it was blocked by Mr. Williams with a modified metal bat. He then looks at me and commands, "I'll take on the big green guy here, you take on the whitewashed ninja over there!"

The duels then went on with each of us going one on one. Rebecca and Tyrell ran into the room while me and the old man stood our ground. I then threw the shield once more to only for the man to dodge it at the last second. It was pinned at the ground for him to vault over and let out a volley of arrows of light from his hand. I blocked them all again to notice his ace in the hole. He pulled out his revolver and fired. But at the nick of time I knocked it out of his hand with the bullets hitting the ceiling. The man drew out his katana to attack but I managed to keep my ground and further attack. His reaction time was swift as it was cunning. But skill alone wasn't enough. I soon found an opening and knocked the sword out of his hand. However he still managed to take advantage of the initiative for going on a full on fist fight with some brass knuckles. My memory of being Hijikata came and threw him from my shoulder to the air and lands on the orc. The orc then grabs him and started to run to the exit behind me. I got out my gun and blocked the exit. My hand grew wild and I let out a barrage of bullets out of my 1911. The orc then grabbed the shield and blocked all my hits. "Like hell that trick is going to work!" I shouted in Japanese. I then took a paper charm and cast a bird shikigami towards them.

I lost control and the bird shikigami enters at amazing speed. The impact was loud that it shattered the shield in half. And that the shield fell with only the bottom part remained with a slip of paper gliding past them. The orc kneeled in shock as he experienced something beyond him. I readied my sword. But the duel ended as the brunette sat down at the floor with his legs crossed. The orc looked confused as he noticed his boss being more annoyed rather than scared. Then again why wouldn't he? A bird familiar breaking through a solid metal shield and sits at the floor with a pissed look at his face. "What are you doing, Richard?" The orc asked. Richard then looked at me with an even more annoyed look at his face. Once more he scratches his head and looks down. "Damn...the boss should have been more specific when she said we knew each other." He complains in Japanese, "It had to be her devil of a vice-commander. That line was even like 'him'!" I dropped my sword as memories started to come. The way he sat and complained…this felt so familiar.

The guy reaches at his back pocket and takes out a thin yet long smoking pipe. He gets out some tobacco and puts it in. The man snaps his fingers and the pipe ignites. Slowly he inhales the smoke and exhales in ecstasy. The way he even exhaled even annoyed me. I then remembered who he was as he says in Japanese, "Nice to meet ya again, Hijikata-kun…" From there I knew, he was really the past life of Ryoma Sakamoto. I then started to walk towards him. But with Richard expecting a hug, I gave my response by pointing Mr. Williams rifle at his nose. "It's been awhile... Sakamoto-san…" I said in a pissed manner in Japanese. "Oi oi! The hell is with the gun?!" He asked in Japanese.

"You attacked us first with magic, idiot!"

"Like how the hell was I supposed to know that was you? For your information, you changed a lot."

"What kind of person just fires on random company then?! That's just reckless!"

"Since when I was reckless?"

"All of what you do is reckless! Even when you gamble it's reckless!"

"Oh come on, we at least got back your swords after we bet our clothes in the pot."

"That doesn't even cover how much ryo you still owe me!"

"What does that have to do with now?"

I then started to rub the barrel in his nostril. I was still pissed but that just made Richard scared. "Try to kill me one more time and I'll skin you alive and use your pelt as a flag at the first ship I see!" I threatened in Japanese. The man then bowed his head at the floor and apologized in the same language. We ended up tying the both of them up. Even if he was from my past life there was still a reason why not to trust him. Knowing history, this guy doesn't have the best terms with the Shinsengumi.

Tyrell repaired two of the shock collars and put them on our two guest. But as we were doing this, it made Tyrell gets looks on wonder who was the real villain here. "Is this right?" Tyrell asked out of confusion. "I'm wondering the same thing." Rebecca responded. Mr. Williams then grabs a chair from the room and thinks of his next move. "Do you know this guy?" He asked me. "He's somebody I used to know back at one of my past lives. Ryoma Sakamoto." I answered.

"Who is he exactly?"

"He was a samurai that changed that was pro-emperor at the time. Back at those times it was political on whether to be pro or anti-shogun at the time. This guy wanted the emperor to be on top. Something like 'revere the emperor, expel the barbarians'."

"So he was a samurai just like you?"

"No… I was actually a farmer's son and was taken in as a swordsman for the imperial police force."

"So a non-samurai police force...how did that go?"

"We were pretty infamous... samurai groups hated us. As much as this guy. But somehow we'd always meet at a bar somewhere and end up drinking...and let me tell you there are many things history doesn't need to know after the shit he drags me into."

"Is that so…"

"Yeah… apparently a pro-shogun group known as the Mimawarigumi assassinated him and framed the Shinsengumi for it."

"Wow... that's rather a dick move."

"As cool as the samurai and many other clans were at the movies, some clans were total dicks."

"So… classic Hollywood bullshit?"

"That's how it is."

Rebecca then kneels down to put a leash on the both of them. We then dragged them into an empty room. I then lock the door behind them and practiced making paper charms. The three of them looked confused as I sat there doing nothing. "So we're just going to wait here?" Tyrell asked. "I just wanna confirm something." I told him. Neither of them knew what was going on but dealt with it either way. But this alone made Rebecca curious. "If this guy is an old friend of yours then why bother to lock him up?" She asked. We then hear the sound of a small gunshot. I open the door and found the binds cut. Turns out he hid a single shot pistol somewhere and used it to cut the ropes. The orc then breaks the ropes on his own and charges towards me. I then countered by throwing him over my shoulder and stuck a paper charm on his forehead. Richard then tries to sneak away but I slapped another paper charm at his forehead as well. I then raised my two fingers and grasped them with my other hand. The both of them became paralyzed at their pace and froze much like statues. "What happened to my body…?" The brunette asked with frozen lips. "I didn't think that would work." I commented. I then nudged him at the side and the man fell in an instant. Looks like I proved something.
