He heard loud screaming as the mixture of blood and rain ran down his face. He soon felt too exhausted to keep his eyes open. When he finally regained consciousness, he was being bathed in a delightful warmth with a slight breeze. He opened his eyes to a somewhat blinding light.
As he hears birds chirping around him he slowly began to realize that he was no longer on the street but instead in a small clearing surrounded by trees. His wounds had somehow disappeared. He felt no pain or fatigue, only confusion. When he finally stood up he suddenly heard a bell followed closely by a red screen appearing in front of him.
From the screen he read:
(Stats)
Strength:1
Agility:1
Intelligence:1
Endurance:1
(Skills)
No available skills
(Equipment)
No available equipment
Seeing this he automatically understood what had happened to him. He had been transported to another world. As he looked around him, felt this unshakable feeling of deja vu. This feeling was so strong it felt though his entire soul knew where he was before he did.
And as he read the text once again, seeing his in game name a smile crept onto his face. He was finally aware of his surroundings. All of his thoughts came crashing downward like a waterfall as he thought 'I'm in Demonspire.'
But his excitement soon turned into dread as he realized he wasn't alone in the clearing. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end as he turned to see a boar that just acknowledged his presence. It was the lowest ranking creature in Demonspire. Shin was confident in his coming victory. This was up until he reached towards his waist and found he was without a weapon.
He quickly searched for something he could use as a weapon. As he looked around a small sharp rock, a boulder, a few loose vines, and a long tree branch laying close to him. Reflexively he reach for the small rock which had a thin yet sharp edge almost reminiscent of his daggers from the game. As soon as he picked up the rock, the boar began to charge at him.
Shin remembered that boars only attack in game was a forward charge that could be easily avoided. So when it charged Shin jumped to the side while stabbing the rock as deep as he could into the boar's neck. Holding the stone with a tight grip, it slashed straight through the boar.
This left a large gash down the side of the boar. The boar fell after crashing into a tree seconds later. He took this opportunity to jump atop the creature. With this Shin began to stab the boar consistently in the neck until it fell limp.
This showed that it had been killed. As the lifeless body sat there he noticed a something glimmering next to the boar.
Shin slid down the boar's back cautiously. Though he knew it was dead he still did not wish to be surprised, so he walked around it with his makeshift dagger drawn. As he approached the boar he remembered that when he used to play Demonspire every time he killed a monster an item light would appear.
He instinctively reached his hand out towards the light as if to grab something that was not there. Then a screen appear above the boar which slightly seemed fairly familiar.
The screen read:
Boar hide x 1
Raw meat x 1
Twin daggers x 1
Gold x 250
Immediately his eyes shot straight to the twin daggers as his smile returned. He claimed the rewards of the trial. There was a familiar bell and another screen reading:
Lvl up
Lvl. 2
Seeing this he closed the screen and left in the general direction of the Demonspire, which looks like a dark needle that pierces the heavens, where he knows he will find the entry town. While he walks he becomes lost in thought wondering what his family is doing right now. Before he realizes there are tears rolling down his face.
Though he wanted to sit and dissolve into his own sadness he wiped his tears away and scanned his surroundings. Finally noticing that the sun had gone and in its place was an almost abyssal darkness pierced only by a dreamlike moonlight. As he approached the edge of the forest he saw a bright orange light flickering in the distance that signified the end of the forest.
With a devilish smile he stated " So this is where my true journey begins." With these words the strength, determination, and courage of Shin welled up into pure, unfiltered energy as he took the final step exiting the forest while staring at the wall of the entry town.
