KALLISTA
Kallista's legs throbbed with an imaginary ache as she was helped onto the van that was going to bring them into the city.
"A City. They've probably never imagined the four of us would return, would they? " she thought as she rubbed her legs. During the time the Caretaker had given them to get acquainted, she had learned that all of her companions' accidents had occurred in A City. Lilac getting knocked up by a stranger after drinking a drugged drink. Kira losing her sight, looks and career. Amrylia being abandoned simply because of her eyes. And her, so tragically crippled for life.
Amrylia had been abandoned as a baby and no one knew her origins so she practically grew up on the streets before being taken in by the previous Caretaker.
But the purpose of each one of them being reintroduced to the world is to get revenge and find the truth. Most of them already have a pretty good take on what happen to them and knew their accidents were purposeful. But for Kallista?
If it weren't for her strong sixth sense, she would've thought her accident was merely a bad twist of fate.
It was almost too coincidental that a truck just happened to appear on that deserted street at that time of that day and it just happened to be unstable and careen right into her. Also, it was extremely 'coincidental' that the ambulance arrived just a minute too late to save her legs.
Kallista zoned out as she pondered on these so-called 'coincidences'. She didn't even notice when Lucas started to pull on her hair to get her attention. "Auntie Kallista! Hello? Auntie Kallista?" Lucas waved a hand in front of her face. She snapped back to reality.
"What is it sweetie?" Within the short amount of time the girls had met, they had already started to completely dote on Lilac's little munchkin, constantly trying to steal Lucas' attention from each other.
"Can Auntie Kallista tell me the story about your past? Mommy and Auntie Amrylia and Auntie Kira already told me theirs."
"Lucas! It's impolite to ask that!" Lilac reprimanded him.
"It's okay... My story is not like your mom's or your other aunties'." He looked at her curiously. "Why?"
"Because your mommy and your aunties' all have a known person who wants to harm them. In my story, there is no one.
Although I suspect there to be one, I can't confirm just yet. Do you still want to hear it?" He nodded as the others looked on helplessly.
"Then I'll tell you. The story starts around the years ago, back when I was the prettiest girl in the school..."
