"Daneen!" I hugged her tightly as soon as I saw her in my office.
We embraced one another ferociously for a moment.
I let go and looked at Waiza. "Tell Ulfah to get us coffee."
"No can do, ma'am." Waiza shook her head.
I pursed my lips. "Oh please… Another coffee won't kill me."
"Hot tea, ma'am. I will get you and Ms Daneen two hot teas." Waiza smiled and walked off.
I pulled Daneen to sit on the sofa nearby. I missed Daneen's accompany. Or should I say… I missed having a best friend.. Or least a friend. A good friend.
"What's wrong?" Daneen asked as she saw the change in my facial expression.
I hugged her right arm and leaned my head on her shoulder. "I missed having a best friend. A best friend that I could share everything with. You're not in Singapore most of the time."
Daneen patted my head. "That's life. In life, there's always give and take. If you want to be someone or do something, there's always a sacrifice. You can't have everything, you know. That's greedy and.."
"Selfish," I finished her sentence.
"That's very smart of you to use your cousin as your voice," Daneen changed the topic.
I nodded. "It's a way to boost her career and most importantly a distraction to Omar's case."
"What am I missing?"
I smacked Daneen's forehead lightly. "People care who sings like that. The attention will be on Naqiyyah. Furthermore, I do not want to be a singer in the first place, Daneen."
