Chapter 8 - A Revisit to a World Getting Known

After processing the details about Doors from Merlin's explanation, Alab realized that the door he almost fell from on his first arrival in Mozza was a librarian's door. He promised himself that the first thing he will do when he gets back is to enter that door again and see through all of it whatever happens.

Normally, Alab would not have run towards the door but it was as if his adult inhibitions were gone and was back to his reckless teenage self. This was because he was in a tempest of emotions. The impact of leaving Earth without any goodbyes is something he thought he was the only one experiencing. It was an incredibly new experience that he did not know what to do.

Although he was sad of leaving Earth and confused in his plans in Gaia, he was very excited in Mozza. The possibilities that the space presents become an outlet for all his negative feelings. He remembered himself as a kid building up legos and opening different trading card packs that reveal random cards. Even though he was reprimanded for some certain cause, it was all taken care of by his simple joy from these normal events. By opening a new door, a step towards coming back to Earth may be realized and this gave him hope.

Continuously falling, Alab saw different images from different mirrors. Then after a minute, Alab's descent slowed down and his feet touched a solid platform, and he was back again from the room he jumped from. Inside one of the mirrors was a girl with white hair wearing a white dress.

'A girl librarian, she is beautiful', Alab thought.

"Hello, I am Sasha. Congratulations!" said the girl smilingly. "You have entered the Door of Greisha on your second return. Assimilation will now be starting, and rewards will be presented after."

At the mention of 'rewards', Alab's eyes glittered, and he wondered what those were. Truly, the space of Mozza excites him because of its surprises.

Sasha was not a previous librarian, instead a Memoir. Memoirs are the guides to a Librarian's Thesis and need not be the actual librarian. It is the librarian's choice to create the person to introduce his/her Thesis.

"To truly enter, one must fall and that to fall is to be free," said Sasha.

The assimilation started and unlike Merlin's Room's simple smoke show, there was a lot that was going on. The west wall of the base room slowly disappeared and from a distance, a big wall twice as high as the previous wall was formed. The adjacent walls extended to connect to the big wall and the brown tiles were replaced with a glass platform revealing the blue sky below. Shelves with books were formed on both sides. Instead of a new room, the base room was extended. Portraits of two men appeared on the wall; they were the librarians whose Doors were already opened. This was followed by another portrait but on a mirror as if someone was looking in front of it. It was Greisha, a man of white long hair with a formal smile.

"I will now present Greisha's Thesis."

All the previous mirrors shattered into very small pieces floated, went up and slowly fell like confetti.

"My creator was passionate in correcting the wrong things in his life. He always see to it that everything is in order. For him, one should regularly reflect one's previous actions be it a happy or sad one, thus, an introduction of mirrors. Many of the wrong things and actions happen because of one's orientation. Examples include a child who always see a wrongdoing from his parents may perceive it as normal or a new employee who was introduced with a wrong method by his boss. This Thesis is called the Child's Path, Perfect Guide. For men to be on the right path, they will be needing the Child's Path. A child is easier to nurture and thus easier to correct than a broken adult. In essence, I am his Memoir and a part of the Thesis."

Early librarians did not see Merlin when they first entered Mozza. What appeared to to those early librarians was a guide orienting them about Mozza and other things. There have been several versions of guides already. Sasha is the final version of the Guide.

"Librarian Alab, as part of Child's Path, I will be always present in this base room, Centro. You are now allowed to borrow two books in the Library and bring it to the world you desire. You can only borrow it for 3 months. If you still have not returned it, it will simply disappear but will cost you IPs. You may choose now. Lastly, Mozza's Restriction Level I is also now lifted."

Mozza has its set of own rules. This is the reason Merlin was hesitant in talking about librarians. Restriction Level I lifted now allows Memoirs like Merlin and Sasha to talk about librarians with Alab but not their doors and door's requirements. However, there have been cases of Memoirs giving tips that were able to slip because of Mozza allowing it.

Alab inspected the books from the new shelves. Because of his situation, he wanted either a book that will introduce the norms in Gaia or anything related to warfare for his survival. While browsing, he saw a famous book that existed in Earth, one of which he also owned but was only able to read the first few pages.

'Is it rational to borrow a book that existed in my world?' he thought. Basing on the first 2 skirmishes, the 2 worlds had the same similarities. In fact, he still had not seen magic in Gaia, so he still grabbed the book.

The other book he got was entitled "Gaia and our Lost History" by P. Feta. It was the best one he could find directly involved with cultures and history. Alab then inquired from Sasha about doors.

There were two requirements in a Door. One for the Door to appear, and another for it to open. Both requirements may be met by doing something in Gaia, in the library or on both places. There are more than 15 doors that were already floating which means Alab has already met the initial requirements for the doors and only needs to know if the doors will open.

Alab asked Sasha if he can try opening the door. A hole between the bookshelves was formed in the north wall of Centro Through Sasha, the different floating doors of various designs slowly descended. After being tested, the door floated back to its initial location. Each door fitted in the hole which morphed based on the door's designs. Alab tried all 15 doors but none opened .

There was one door however that was quite different. It was a Door that had different colored light bulbs surrounding it and produced a sound that may be attributed from old games of 90s in Earth or from carnivals. That door's knob was twisted but the door cannot be pushed. This was a Door whose requirements were near completion.

In his frustration from not being able to open any of the door, Alab asked Sasha, "Are you really a perfect guide?"

"I am only a part of the Perfect Guide, Greisha designed me in the form that I will not be too vague but not also provide too much data to the current librarian. For him, continuous learning is the perfect situation for the owner of Mozza."

"Well, the word perfect is pretty much subjective, you know. Like truths, it is based on the current data that is created or the norms provided by the society. Established truths were changed throughout the course of history. One can be beautiful or perfect for someone but very plain to another. What if I tell you that for me, a Perfect Guide, is someone or something that will give me the requirements now to open these Doors. You will then be my guide on how to use the different Theses and it will be up to me on how I will be using it. If that is my view of a Perfect Guide, will you act in accordance with it?"

"I was made like this for the purpose of guiding. A thesis that can only function within the limits of Mozza. If you are trying to learn the requirements for Mozza through me then you are basically bypassing Mozza's sets of rules."

"Bypassing? But there are only limits because you allow them to. Just like now, were you not the one who enable this area for the restrictions to be lifted? If you can't do something as simple as that then you are only perfect in the eyes of your creator."

"You are misunderstanding the situation. Mozza values research and to get what you want based on such assumptions will make you lazy and lost in finding the things that are important." Sasha paused and continued.

"Greisha made the Perfect Guide based on his and previous librarian's experience. There is a council that controls this Thesis and steps are made in order for it to reliable Mr. Alab. There have been an instance where a thesis was available but the amount of Infomation Points was too big and that the librarian at that time was not able to use it in his lifetime."

Alab understood that Sasha was very knowledgeable being able to provide just the right amount of content and with a touch of history to solidify her point. But what really struck him is the word "Council". He didn't bother asking for it though.

"Still, your creator was pretty much full of himself for putting the word perfect in his Thesis. With that, he disregarded the possibility of it being improved.

"You ought to know Mr. Alab that I have not been replaced for the past 500 years."

While there may be problems with the wording of the 'Perfect Guide', the Guide had no newer versions for years.

"That still does not make you perfect. You seem irritated, what was your relationship with your creator, anyway?"

There was silence for a while... "My creator's name is Greisha. Sorry, if you are discontented but it's just a name and I know I am not perfect," Sasha suddenly had tears flowing down on her but was still maintaining her smiling demeanor.

Sasha did not answer Alab's question and cried silently. Only after having a lady cry, Alab was able to realize that he was behaving unbecomingly and now, has regained his adult senses. Normally, the words he said were something that would just play on his mind.

'Why was she so much affected by it and crying now, and instantly? Was it because I insulted his creator?'

Alab's impression from Sasha from her replies was a woman with a strong and firm personality but upon the mention of his creator, she suddenly cried. When a woman cries, the best thing to do was to apologize.

'Why did I even start that kind of petty argument, continued pressing her and started attacking on a personal level? It's not like me.'

He felt that there was a raging emotion in him that made him to start acting immature. He tried to calm down and apologized to Sasha. Sasha accepted the apology and returned to her normal self.

After things have calmed down, Sasha continued presenting the Thesis.

"Now, this is also for you," said Sasha handing a normal sized book and a pen. "It's your Diary, only you can read what you write. What you currently see, Mozza already sees. But what you are thinking and feeling, Mozza also wants to know. In return, this produces Information Points because data is only data if not processed. From these data, different perspectives are created. Now that the assimilation is finished, I will now be giving the rewards. You have obtained the Platinum rewards because of entering Greisha's Door on your 2nd return."

Greisha's Door is also known as the First Door and Door of Rewards. It was designed to be present when a new librarian enters. The base extension will be formed by default, but different rewards are given based on the time the librarian enters on his return. One may be confused and be totally hesitant because as one tries to enter, nothing but a blue sky is shown.

"So, the rewards were based on the time one enters it? Then what if I never realized this? Why didn't you tell me about this before?" Alab grumbled to Merlin

"Like what she just told you, we cannot reveal any door's secrets," replied Merlin.

Sasha then continued, "Now for the rewards..."
