"The fire is out, huh?"
The morning's cold wind has penetrated Fang's body, leaving him shivering.
The soaked clothes that he wore were dried by the fire overnight, but they were still cold.
"The rain ended, but the sun is not really that visible... I need to eat, I'm starving."
'I should clean the furnace, It must be filled with burnt wood... Damn, It's gonna stink cleaning it every time.'
Built with four big slabs of rock, Fang looked into the furnace from above only to see The long-dead embers crumbling away, fading while the smell of burnt meat invaded Fang's nostrils.
Using a wide branch the shape of a paddle, he started cleaning the embers. Instead of throwing them, he realized they might have their own use so he kept them in a corner in the cave, guarding it with a few big boulders he found scattered throughout the cave.
Taking the last branches he had, he stacked them neatly and reheated the furnace. Hanging the meat he cooked yesterday and making some mushroom skewers, he suddenly realized he must find a new source of meat before nightfall.
It will take some time... I should go out and look for branches and maybe try to hunt.
After making sure the furnace was closed, Fang grabbed his katana and started his second day in Edenia. Taking one big step out of the cave was enough for him to lose his confidence:
The first thing he saw was the sunlight, bright and warm but still battling the winter winds.
The next thing was the reason for his confidence drop. A Pig, much bigger than the one from yesterday.
"That is not good!" He ran back inside, making sure to not make any noises, and sat to think.
"I need a plan. I don't know how to make weapons and I don't know magic... what can I do?"
'Maybe raising my strength will help me.'
He got on his feet and readied his katana.
"Hyaa!" A slash through the air, blunt and strong made a sharp noise, enough to restore Fang's confidence in himself.
"yaa! yaa! yaa!"
Time after time he slashed and after a few minutes a now-familiar message appeared!

"It's my first active skill! Do I just activate it by swinging the sword or something?"
"hiya!" But nothing happened. The skill won't activate for a few more slashes.
"What am I doing wrong... Maybe visualizing it will help?"
Focus. Double slash!
As he thought about the move, Fang slashed again but this time something was different. It was as if he struck twice in a row but he only moved once.
"That... was a bit tiring. I guess it's good I have a new ability but my head is spinning."
The use of mana is the problem, isn't it?
"Well, I need to rest a bit and think. How can I hunt with minimum risk?"
As Fang sat down to think, time flew, and before he could notice it half an hour passed.
"I guess making this kind of trap might help, but I don't know if it will hit it... I guess I'll have to take the chance."
Gathering small rocks from the cave, Fang made some discoveries:
He found some dim blue stones that glow in the dark, eliminating Fang's need for a constant fire. They looked like little eyeballs, little balls with another ball inside of them that emitted the light. He picked several and stored them in his pockets.
There was another strange rock, the size of a palm. As Fang reached for it He noticed it emits intense heat and it was then he saw it: The ground beneath it was slightly charred and asphalt black. He avoided touching it for now as it seemed too dangerous to touch.
As time went by, Fang felt like he spent close to an hour exploring the cave.
"I will take a few branches, sharpen them with my katana, and fill a hole with them for the Pig."
The sun began to set, permitting the cold night to return.
The forest shook as the howling winds passed between the tall trees, the smell of mushrooms invaded the forest ground.
The autumn leaves crunched and crumbled as the Beast stepped on them, but it did not take long for it to understand something was off.
"Too bad it's too late..." Said Fang as the Pig dropped on the spears in the hole, puncturing his belly and penetrating slowly, deeper with every little movement.
It doesn't take long for Fang to come out of his hideout and land the final hit.
"Double slash!"
A fountain of blood erupts from the Pig's neck, and the head drops to the hole and stays on the spears.
"I killed another one. This time all by myself, I don't know who injured the first one but I owe him my life."
As the flies started to gather around the pig, the blood dripped and flowed until a little pond was created at the entrance to the cave.
"I need to find a way to get rid of the blood otherwise I'll attract other beasts."
Fang started cutting the legs of the Pig, taking them to the furnace he had expanded.
He exited the cave, looking back at the corpse. He checked his left and right, looking for danger.
The windy night has given him a stomach ache but he knows that warm food can solve it pretty quickly so he started gathering a few branches.
It didn't take long before the four legs were skewered and gently placed in the furnace from above.
The dangling meat didn't take long before it secreted its tasty juices, releasing an irresistible aroma.
{INT+ 2}
"I guess using traps and improving my equipment serves as proof I became smarter.
I'm not surprised, but I guess only four more INT points till I can use magic."
As he kept butchering the pig, he found out that cutting the back and then cutting cuts of meat was easier than moving it.
As he finished extracting everything he could including some bones, he left the belly untouched knowing it might be bad if he sliced the guts more than they were sliced.
"I need to get rid of the body quickly, it doesn't weigh that much now. I guess I can just lift it, drop it in the woods, and hope I won't encounter anything."
{INT+1}
"Now that's just way too easy! I wonder how it works cause I did have some smart ideas but it didn't reward it. Never mind, let's be thankful for what I have."
The corpse was thrown in the woods, far away, being eaten by stray animals.
Fang finished eating his meat as well.
Using his leather boots he got from Asu, Fang filled the trap pond with water again and again until the blood flowed out of the cave.
Another day has passed, but Fang is not the only one who has been working hard.
"Is it ready?"
An old elf, wearing green luxurious clothes with red stripes on his shoulders sat on a wooden throne. The room is filled with blue glowing rocks, and they never get dim.
"I have the full report here for you."
"good work Eldrin, I look forward to more updates on this other-worldly being."
"Yes my lord, but I think the scouts may have blown this out of proportion-." "quiet. Haven't I taught you that you should never underestimate the opponent?"
"I'm sorry my lord, you're right."
"You want to rule after me? You must learn how to be a king, and how to be a general. You must know how to approach the battlefield, certainly not by thinking there isn't any challenge.
If the battle is not hard but the opponent is strong then you don't see the whole picture.
You can't miss anything, especially not intel about the enemy. This kid? He might be as weak as a stick, but he might be as strong as a god. who knows?"
The old king spoke in great wisdom, showing how much of a scholar he is but at the same time a veteran of hard battles.
"I will call the bear hunters my lord, I beg your forgiveness once again."
"Go now. I want to know what we're dealing with."
Tens of thousands live in his kingdom.
All of them are in some way his children and he will never let anything harm his kids.
