Chapter 7 - The Moment Of Rage.. RAGE!

"ROAR!!‐‐" The reverberating sound echoed, a manifestation of Daniel's swelling anger.

The apes, seized by a shared instinct, lunged toward him as his roar echoed through the jungle.

With an uncanny foresight, Daniel sidestepped to the left, anticipating the impending swing of the ape.

In a whirlwind of manic fury, his fist swung through the air, a forceful collision that effortlessly cracked and dislocated the ape's jaw.

*crack*

*swoosh*

*boom*

The ape, propelled through the air by the sheer force of the blow, contorted as it flew, almost snapping its neck in the process. The creature crashed violently into the very rock Daniel had been embedded in just moments before.

Revenge, a bittersweet triumph.

The second ape, recognizing the shift in power, chose the path of retreat. Yet, fueled by unhindered rage, Daniel pursued relentlessly. 'I never knew I was capable of this...' he marveled, the euphoric rush pulsating through every fiber of his being.

Breathless, he panted as he closed the distance, steadily gaining on the fleeing ape amidst the dense foliage of the jungle.

'There's something different here on this planet compared to Earth...'

Daniel's grip closed around the ape's shoulder, a calculated move that swiftly progressed to ensnaring its left arm and leg. With a forceful heave, he hoisted the creature into the air before subjecting it to a brutal series of impacts against the unforgiving ground.

'Emotions are tangible here... Almost resembling an energy source...' Each blow Daniel unleashed seemed to draw upon an unseen wellspring of emotion. His fists relentlessly met the ape's face, the intensity of his rage escalating with every strike.

'All that's happened in my life has left me with pent-up anger I never realized was still there...' The weight of Daniel's past bore down on him, his fists becoming conduits for the surges of emotion buried within.

Daniel's vision darkened into a profound shade of red.

'The death of my Best Friend... How his murderer was set free...' A torrent of memories surged, igniting a boiling rage within him. The echoes of injustice fueled each deliberate, vengeful act.

He seized one of the ape's arms and, with a primal force, tore it from the torso, revealing the exposed bones and muscles beneath—a visceral manifestation of the raw, seething anger that had long lain dormant within him.

The veins wept, dark crimson blood oozing from the ape's wounds, a macabre tableau of violence. Its shrieks echoed through the air, a cacophony of manic insanity reverberating through the grim scene.

The ape's visage, once a semblance of life, had transformed into nothing more than a grotesque amalgamation of crushed meat and shattered bone.

Daniel, fueled by an overwhelming surge of emotions, directed his fury into each punch aimed at the ape's gut. Each strike resonated with a sickening thud, like a hammer relentlessly pounding on yielding flesh.

'The oppression of my people... Watching my family scramble from the police for nothing more than existing.' Daniel's breath came in ragged gasps, his words punctuated by the rhythmic brutality of his assault.

'The bullies who succeeded in getting my cousin to commit suicide.'

'The betrayals... The isolation... The rejection...'

Daniel raged unabated, a tempest of sorrow and fury unleashed against the backdrop of his personal anguish.

'I have my principles. But now, I'll indulge the darkness... Let me see what I can do when I let go of the good in me.'

His eyes, once filled with determination, darkened into an abyss, and with this transformation, his physical prowess surged exponentially. The intersection of darkness and strength painted a grim tableau of a soul teetering on the edge.

He seized the half-dead ape by its skull, his fingers closing in a merciless grip.

*Squelch*

The sickening sound accompanied the implosion of brain matter and the shattering of skull fragments, a visceral aftermath that cascaded around his hand. The convulsions that had wracked the ape ceased in a sickening finale.

As Daniel turned to survey his surroundings, a stark reality unfolded. A diverse assembly of apes encircled him, each possessing unique traits—variations in size, stature, and build. Yet, despite their differences, they all bore the same sinister characteristics as the previous adversaries.

Stunned into stillness by the brutal display of dominance, the apes remained motionless.

'Well, damn... My emotions did get the best of me... I have to rectify that mistake, but first, I have to get out of here,' Daniel reflected, the gravity of his actions sinking in.

The storm of turmoil still raged, the soil beneath him dampened, and the jungle took on an increasingly ominous air. Smoke and ash meandered through the forest, weaving a haunting tapestry that mirrored the turbulence within Daniel's own conflicted emotions.

The two behemoths were fighting a ferocious battle, their red & white flashes of light scattering across the canopy of the trees made the shadows dance, and the ground tremble.

The seething rage persisted in the depths of his heart, an unrelenting force that Daniel fought to contain within the confines of his consciousness.

The colossal creatures engaged in fierce combat, their titanic clashes unfolding to the southwest of Daniel's precarious vantage point.

'I can proceed with my plan. Head west until I reach civilization, and then figure out the next steps... if I manage to survive.' Gathering his thoughts, a morbid surge of confidence pulsed through him.

Prepared to confront the encroaching menace, he propelled himself forward with a burst of maximum effort, deftly evading three oncoming apes as though navigating a minefield on the way to the end zone.

Suddenly, a mammoth grey fist materialized seemingly out of thin air, delivering a sucker punch squarely to Daniel's left cheek.

*smack*

His vision blurred momentarily as he spun in response, instinctively launching a kick in the first direction that his senses allowed.

The impact resonated, the force of his kick propelling the offending ape into a collision with several others, a chaotic cascade of bodies momentarily disrupting the relentless advance.

He pivoted towards the west, only to be met with the ominous sight of two apes, their massive fists descending from a lofty height.

Stripped of momentum, Daniel was compelled to rely on sheer reflex as he reached out, catching the impending blows.

*boom!*

The thunderous impact reverberated through him, forcing him to one knee. His face contorted with strain, veins pulsating as the weight of the colossal fists pressed down.

*crack!*

A swift kick connected with his back from behind, propelling him like a projectile through the space between the two apes.

'Fuck... there are too many!' Daniel mentally shook himself, a desperate bid to stave off the encroaching numbness that threatened to consume his senses.

His back ached, and his arms hung like lead, the toll of the relentless onslaught evident in every strained muscle.

'Okay... So obviously forcing my way through won't work...' The realization voiced by Daniel lingered in the air as he rose slowly, a battered figure contemplating the limitations of brute strength in the face of overwhelming odds.

The skin on Daniel's knuckles bore the evidence of battle, sliced and seeping blood that transformed his hand into a crimson tableau.

His cheek, marked by the earlier sucker punch, now sported additional cuts, a testament to the relentless assault. The kick from behind had left its sinister mark, inducing internal bleeding that compounded the toll on his battered body.

Undeterred, he surged westward, a determined pivot to a new strategy taking root in his mind.

'I'll create obstacles using their bodies and divert their attacks to create even more obstacles. I'll maintain a steady pace but prioritize maneuverability and grappling, essentially.' A newfound confidence enveloped Daniel as he crafted this plan in the midst of chaos.

'I have to hurry, for some reason my body is getting tired... Maybe my emotion in this crazed state saps my stamina?' Daniel contemplated, the strains of physical and emotional exertion starting to take their toll.

'I have to stay focused! I've never fought before, and here I am, slipping in concentration.'

As he closed in on the formidable wall of apes, he decelerated. The first ape's fist hurtled towards his face, but with swift agility, he ducked beneath the blow. Capitalizing on the momentum, he expertly pushed the ape's legs over his shoulder, seamlessly executing a throw that sent the creature somersaulting through the air without losing a beat.

As he moved forward two more were in his way. The first tried to tackle him & the other stepped back to intercept him in case the first ape failed.

'Intelligence?' The subtle observation didn't escape Daniel's notice.

With a swift and calculated move, he pressed down on the apes' shoulders, creating an opening that allowed him to vault over their imposing forms.

The second ape, nimble and aggressive, lunged forward with remarkable speed, its fist cutting through the air with even greater velocity.

In a display of awkward yet effective maneuvering, Daniel sidestepped the oncoming blow and deftly slapped the fist to the right. The sudden redirection caused the ape to lose its footing, stumbling past him in an uncontrolled descent.

From the right, a third ape closed in, aiming to land a kick on Daniel. However, due to the unpredictability of the situation, its unfortunate comrade ended up with its face directly in the path of the incoming foot.

Daniel, consumed by the weight of exhaustion, didn't pause to witness the unfolding consequences of his strategic ingenuity. Fatigue gripped him, a persistent adversary.

As he pressed on, three apes approached—two flanking his sides with the intent to seize his arms, while one positioned itself in front, arms spread wide to form a makeshift barrier.

Summoning his last reserves of strength, Daniel forcefully drove his left leg forward, propelling himself faster. The two flanking apes collided with each other in a chaotic entanglement, disrupted by the unexpected force initiated by Daniel's strategic push.

As they recovered and chased after Daniel, he kicked the standing ape in the shins, it threw its arms forward to brace by reflex, but Daniel grabbed its arms and spun it around, throwing the ape into the two that were pursuing.

At this juncture, Daniel found himself gasping for breath, his chest heaving with the effort of an unaccustomed physical exertion. The clash with the apes had revealed his inexperience in combat, leading him to unwittingly over-exert himself in the heat of the struggle.

Yet, beneath the sheen of sweat and the heavy breaths, the simmering rage persisted, an inferno beneath his skin that fueled his every move. It was a tumultuous battle waged on three fronts, a miracle that he managed to sustain the onslaught for this prolonged duration.

In the midst of this relentless struggle, a sudden shift caught his attention. The apes, once adversaries in a ferocious dance, ceased their onslaught and redirected their gaze upward. Intrigued, Daniel followed their collective stare.

Above him, the colossal body of the Giant Bird plummeted into view. Its once majestic feathers, now charred, crackled with residual lightning, creating an awe-inspiring spectacle.

*Boom!!*

The impact unleashed a seismic shockwave, transforming the earth beneath into molten rock that scattered in all directions. Tendrils of lightning snaked around the Giant Bird of prey, creating an otherworldly display of energy.

The force of the impact slammed Daniel, the apes, and everything in the immediate vicinity into a chaotic airborne dance. A lethal ballet unfolded as the shockwave claimed the lives of most creatures in its path, particularly the shrewd of apes who found themselves closest to the epicenter of destruction.

Daniel, propelled by the force of impact, careened through a chaotic landscape of trees, bushes, and unsuspecting creatures, each collision carving a path of destruction through the foliage. The ground, an unwilling accomplice to his tumultuous journey, yielded beneath the merciless scrape of his body, creating a trench that extended for several hundred meters.

In the aftermath, he lay sprawled and unconscious, a testament to the severity of his wounds and the overpowering grip of fatigue that had finally claimed him.

...

As the relentless storm of chaos subsided, a hauntingly beautiful transformation unfolded. The air, once charged with the vibrancy of green and dark-toned hues, now bore witness to a surreal metamorphosis. Ash cascaded from the sky in a gentle descent, shrouding the once vibrant landscape in a cloak of grey. A subtle haze lingered, casting the entire scene in a monochromatic palette.

In the ensuing hours, Daniel became an indistinguishable figure beneath the accumulating layer of ash, his form barely discernible against the transformed backdrop.

A few hundred meters away, the Giant Lizard, a formidable creature in its own right, roamed the altered landscape. It bore the scars of the recent cataclysm, blood oozing from wounds that marred its neck and back. Its ponderous footsteps left deep impressions in the soil as it moved with a deliberate yet injured grace.

The sheer devastation wrought by the fall of one of these colossal creatures was mind-jarring. Time passed, and the wounded Giant Lizard, conceding defeat in its fruitless search, turned eastward. With slow, deliberate steps, it headed towards the desert, a sanctuary where it could tend to its injuries and nurse itself back to strength.

...

"Ughh." The faint groan emerged like a distant echo from beneath a mound of ash, barely audible in the stillness that followed.

With the cessation of the falling ash, a desolate landscape draped in a grey haze stretched as far as the eye could see. Moonlight, stark and unfiltered, bathed the surroundings in an ethereal silver glow.

As Daniel stirred, the ash that cloaked the upper half of his body cascaded aside, revealing his prone form. Barely opening his eyes, his vision, once tinged with a fiery red, now struggled to focus, veiled in a lingering blur.

'I... passed out?'

Attempting to move, to shift his body for an upright stance, proved a futile endeavor. Lacking the strength to turn over, frustration seeped into his groggy consciousness.

'Damn it... what kind of place is this?'

A survey of his surroundings yielded little beyond a monotonous expanse of ash.

'This is too weird...' Daniel's thoughts meandered back to the bizarre events that had unfolded.

'This world's nature resembles Earth in a way, but those giant animals? That shouldn't be possible...' The sheer scale and strength of the behemoths continued to captivate his bewildered mind in the midst of this strange, desolate realm.

'I have to reach civilization... I believed I could endure this place, but that assumption hinged on the premise that all wildlife here mirrored the creatures back home.' The Lizards, feeble as they were, stood in stark contrast to the formidable strength exhibited by the apes.

These creatures, eerily reminiscent of their counterparts on Earth, highlighted a crucial distinction — Daniel's own body. A heightened sense of control, amplified power, and a newfound sensitivity across all five senses attested to an intrinsic transformation.

Yet, peril loomed large in this alien environment.

As his gaze shifted to the moon, its luminous presence illuminated the imminent challenge. With the celestial body sinking lower, the anticipation of the twin suns' emergence heightened.

In a matter of hours, the dual suns would cast their radiance upon this unfamiliar landscape, offering Daniel the opportunity to resume his journey westward.
