Logan groaned and sat up, awake and annoyed. On one side was Glynda, sleeping soundly and lightly holding onto his arm. On the other side was Dorothy, clinging to his leg uncomfortably. But neither one was the reason for him being awake.
.
No, that reason belonged to this.
.
[Mission Start! The End is Nigh.]
.
That's it. No description and no reward. Just the mission start ding and the name.
.
Needless to say, Logan was confused and annoyed.
.
Logan: 'Couldn't this have waited until morning?' Logan thought as he pried Dorothy off his leg and put her into Glynda's arms. 'But whatever this is about, I have a bad feeling about it.'
.
Once Dorothy was safely in Glynda's arms and covered by the blanket, Logan left the bedroom after getting dressed. He wandered around Beacon's campus as he pondered the mission's lack of details. All he had to go on was the mission name, which wasn't that much, to be honest.
.
Logan: ' 'The end is nigh?' ' Logan thought as he walked. 'Like the end of the world? Or the end of me?' Logan shook his head and stared up at the broken moon. 'There are too many possibilities and not enough information. I just wish I could get in contact with Magus and tell him about it. But short of teleporting there and telling him in person, I can't.' He sighed. "And something tells me I won't find them at Oasis either."
.
As Logan continued to walk around Beacon's Campus in his thoughts, Magus and the homunculus were in the middle of an important ritual.
.
Magus: "Rodick (02), did you cut the teleport sigils?" Magus asked as Serina (03) helped him get dressed in heavily enchanted robes.
Rodick: "They've been cut and disabled, permanently." Rodick spoke solemnly. "There is no outside connection with the world anymore.
Magus: "Volcan (04), is the containment crystal clear?" Magus asked as Serina tightened the robes.
Volcan: "The containment crystal is clear of all impurities." Volcan spoke truthfully. "Several others have been constructed and are of the same."
Magus: "Tamsin (05), are all the materials accounted for and prepared?" Magus asked again as Serina tightened a pair of boots on Magus's feet.
Tamsin: "The souls have been harvested and stripped of all the memories." Tamsin spoke up evenly. "Their power will help fill the ritual, their sacrifice will not be in vain."
.
Magus sighed. He knew that the ritual was the only way to pull Remnant away from the Brothers' control. The materials were ready, even if they were highly immoral. Blood of the forgotten, bone of the ancient, and souls of those who hadn't lived their life. These were just the most notable of the materials that they had gathered. Among the list are other things like a dragon's heart and mithril and uru.
.
Their plan had worked so far, but there were a few things that still could go wrong. Hence why they cut off all teleportation to and from Oasis. Logan was the only variable that could make this all go down the drain.
.
Magus: "Right about now, Logan should be getting a mission to either stop us or to help us." Magus sighed and told the homunculus. "Neither is accepted or required. Should he appear here by some miracle, then he is to be eliminated at all costs. He can not be allowed to see this through. Am I clear?"
02,03,04,05: "Yes!"
Magus: "Nayma (01), start the ritual." Magus ordered. "Once everything is contained, I will take it from there. Should Logan not show, you know your roles. BEGIN!"

.
The day dawned and Logan was no closer to figuring out the mission. But, having spent the night awake and wandering the campus grounds, Logan made some of his 'Liquid Death' coffee to help keep him awake. The smell alone made several new teams wake up and a few older teams get flashbacks to hell-on-earth, which is what Logan called his training. Soon, Glynda found him wandering around the main road.
.
Glynda: "There you are!" Glynda growled at him with Dorothy in her arms.
Dorothy: "Dada!" Dorothy cried out in joy
Logan: "Sorry," Logan said as he hugged the two before looking around and making sure no one could hear what he was about to say. "I had a mission come up."
Glynda: "What is it?" Glynda whispered and handed Dorothy to Logan.
Logan: "That's just it, I don't know." Logan told her in a hushed whisper. "I just got the mission ding and the name. No description, no information, no objective."
Glynda: "That's it?" Glynda asked.
Logan: "That's it." Logan told her. "But ever since I got it, I had nothing but a bad feeling."
Dorothy: "Dada, I'm hungry!" Dorothy pouted and said since they weren't paying attention to her.
.
Logan sighed. Leave it to Dorothy to break the tension by wanting food or attention.
.
Taking a good look at her, Logan could see just how much she took after them. A cute button nose, a rounded face, and blonde hair with orange tips. While she took her looks after her mother, her eyes were like Logan's. Blue with flecks of grey in them. Even now, Logan could see her breaking a lot of hearts in the future and him beating a few into their rightful place.
.
Logan: "Come on then, let's go get something to eat." Logan sighed, he was starting to feel hungry himself.
Glynda: "You haven't had breakfast yet?" Glynda asked.
Logan: "I've been up most of the night. I haven't felt hungry until now." Logan answered.
Glynda: "You're such an idiot sometimes." Glynda sighed and shook her head.
.
The three walked off, back to their home. Unaware of the ritual taking place at Oasis.
