Chapter 139 - Some things...

Some things are never meant to be easy.

.

This thought crossed Logan's mind as he tumbled arse over teakettle.

.

Not even five minutes after taking Wrench into custody did everything go from zero to 100 real quick. Logan didn't even get the chance to escort her out of the mine when a fist impacted his face, nearly shattering his aura, and sending him flying. Logan flew out of the alcove and back into the chamber. After bouncing twice, Logan rolled to his feet while managing to keep ahold of his [Ace of Spades]. He then had to form a shield of ash to block sudden gunfire at his back as the town's people opened fire on him. From the elderly to the children, Logan watched as they all got ready to deal with him.

.

Logan wanted to shout at them, hoping to explain his being there, but he knew it was for not. He knew that they were willing to die for Wrench. One that wasn't due to any semblance but blind devotion to her and DedEnd. Wrench knew this and wasn't worried about Logan taking her. She knew what was going to happen when Logan tried to take her.

.

Wrench: "Now see here," Wrench spoke as she came out of the alcove, still cuffed. "If you can get both me and yourself out of this mine unharmed, I'll comply with your demands." She said with a massive smirk. "However, none of the town's people can be hurt in the process." She chuckled, "If they get even a scratch on them, I'm fighting back. Deal?" She told Logan with three sets of ethereal arms floated at her back, her smirk never leaving her face.

.

Logan huffed as he let his aura refill as he popped an [Aura Recovery Pill] he bought from his [System: Store]. He could see that Wrench was willing to do as she said and a quick glance at the town's people confirmed his suspicions. They would follow her orders to the letter, regardless of the consequences.

.

But Logan knew never to play games with things like this. But he also noticed how she phrased it. The only way he could get her out of here without a fight was by knocking all the town's people out at once but that would count. Binding was the only way to go about it, however, his ash wouldn't be fast enough to get them all before they tried something.

.

And from the punch earlier, Logan knew that Wrench would be a formidable opponent. Those spectral arms of hers were strong enough to almost bust his aura shield with one solid punch. Logan feared what they could do to an unprotected body.

.

Wrench: "We got a deal or what?" Wrench asked again as she moved closer to Logan.

.

Logan didn't answer and just stood. He then took a deep breath as the lights inside the chamber grew dim and flickered. As he breathed out, the lights went out.

.

Logan: "I'm tired of playing games..." Logan's voice echoed throughout the chamber.

Wrench: "Oh, you think just because the lights are out, you some big bad monster." Wrench called out in the darkness. "I ain't spooked!"

Logan: "I don't need you spooked..." Logan's voice echoed as the lights stayed extinguished. "I just need you alive and talking..."

.

Just as Logan's echo dissipated, the lights suddenly turned back on. Revealing all the towns' people bound and gagged in ash. Wrench was shocked at how fast it all happened as the lights were out for less than a minute. Logan was nowhere to be found.

.

Logan: "I may have gotten a little rough with them..." Logan's voice still echoed. "This is me going all out, do you still think you can handle me?"

Wrench: "I'm impressed." Wrench spoke up as she snapped the cuff off. "Your fast, I'll give you that. But that ain't gonna be enough to take me down!"

Logan: "I'm not so sure about that." Logan's voice came from behind her.

.

Before Wrench could move, her arms and legs were bound in ash as white fire wrapped around her neck. Logan just stood by and watched as Wrench struggled with the ash bindings. Sighing, Logan just picked her up and started making his way back up to the surface.

{With Ghira}

.

Ghira couldn't help but sigh.

.

In his youth, Ghira always pictured himself as something simple, like a farmer. But to be the face of a new up-and-coming Kingdom? He would have scoffed at the thought.

.

But, that was the truth he was facing as he was face-to-face with reporters from the other Kingdoms. Lisa Lavender from Vale, Millie Rocks from Vacuo, Lee Vine from Mistral, and Abby Noel from Atlas. The four Kingdoms sent their top reporters and their crews to document the story and rise of Remnant's newest Kingdom. And all he could do was try his best to not mess this up.

.

Ghira: 'How I wish Logan was here to deal with this.' Ghira thought as he began showing the reporters and their crews around the new Menagerie. 'On second thought, I should be the one doing this. I rather not have someone who's been on a mission for the last three weeks or Sienna, who's been swamped with reports from the Fangs, do this. They might just do something stupid to get out of it.'

.

As Ghira thought about this, he lead the reporters to the Inn they would be staying at for the time being. Most were grateful as they had been walking around all day while a few others were hoping for someplace to rest their heads. Ghira promised the tour will continue tomorrow since it was getting pretty late in the day.

.

The next day rolled around with Ghira giving the reporters a tour of their farms, stopping here and there to answer some questions they had. Next was the wall that was currently being reinforced and thicken. After that was the markets where Ghira had to pull away a few of the male crew members when a few of the female aquatic Faunus walked around with little to no clothes, the females were 'slightly' unamused about it. Finally, it was time for the public offices.

.

Ghira: "And here are the public offices." Ghira motioned with his hand. "As you can see, we're currently rebuilding them due to a terrorist attack."

Lisa: "May I ask who was behind the attack?" Lisa Lavender asked before any of the others could.

Ghira: "That's..." Ghira paused, having got a message from Logan last night about it. "I'll be blunt about it. It's a small group that sees Faunus as less then animals. To them, we Faunus are only worth what others make of us, slaves basically. Currently, Logan Scarlett has one of their top members in custody."

Millie: "Can you tell us this group's name?" Millie Rocks asked.

Ghira: "I am not privy to that information otherwise I would gladly tell you just to get their name out there to get more people after them." Ghira told them seriously. "Though they used to be part of a group called 'Ded2Right'."

Abby: "Are you sure you can't tell us any more about this terrorist group?" Abby Noel asked as she shoved her way to the front.

Lee: "Are there any other attacks this group is responsible for?" Lee Vine shouted from the back of the group.

Ghira: "Several." Ghira replied while mentally sighing. 'This is going to take a while.'

[With Glynda]

.

Glynda sighed as she fed her daughter, Dorothy, her favorite carrots as she thought about Logan. It had been close to a week since he had left to chase down the 'DedEnd' lead he had gotten, leaving her behind to take care of their daughter. Glynda understood why she was left behind. She didn't hate it, but she missed being out in the field every now and then.

.

Glynda: 'Maybe I'll take a patrol mission when he gets back.' Glynda thought as she wiped Dorothy's face clean. 'I don't like sitting around while he does everything.'

.

As Glynda made up her mind, her instincts flared. Causing her to grab Dorothy and bring her close. She carefully scanned the room as she slowly brought her riding crop, The Disciplinarian, up and ready to make a shield at a moment's notice. Say what you want about Glynda, but she still was a Huntress.

.

Her instincts still were blaring to get out of her house, so she followed their order. Glynda slowly made her way towards the front door and opened it before heading outside. Glynda kept her head on a swivel as she made her way to Beacon's main road where she got odd looks from the passing students. She ignored them while keeping on moving. Something was telling her to find Salem or Ozpin fast so she sped up.

.

Salem: "Glynda," Salem called out to her suddenly, breaking her from her vigilance, "You seem stressed, what's the problem?"

???: "That would be me..."
