Logan sighed as he got dressed. For the last week, Logan has been helping Glynda with almost everything she does, more so than he did before that is. Lately, Glynda has been having headaches, upset stomachs, and been feeling a bit bloated. Logan had to convince her to get checked out at a hospital since both Salem and Ozpin have been swamped with work lately. Now the two of them were off to the hospital, both having taken a day off for it.
.
After having gotten dressed, Logan heard groans coming from the bathroom. Walking inside, Logan gently laid a hand on Glynda's back as she dry heaved into the toilet. As Logan gently rubbed in circles on her back, he thought back to the first time she started all this. Three days ago, it started as just having to go to the bathroom frequently. From there, it got to where it is now. After the second day, Logan had used his blue flames (They destroy disease) but they did nothing to help her. Hence the trip.
.
Once Glynda started feeling better, Logan helped her get dressed in some lighter and easier to move in clothes. As they got ready, Logan made sure that his bike, repaired and ready to go, was outside and in easy walking distance for Glynda. Before too long, they were off to the hospital.
.
After a thirty-minute drive through traffic, the two ended up at the hospital. Logan ended up half carrying Glynda inside due to a stomach cramp she was having. Glynda sighed in relief when logan sat her down and went to take care of the paperwork in her stead. After an incredibly long fifteen-minute wait, they were called for. Logan had been worried after they took numerous tests before they were left inside the room they were given.
.
Glynda: "Will you relax and sit down?" Glynda asked Logan who was pacing back and forth.
Logan: "Sorry, Hun." Logan said as he sat down in a chair. "Usually, I'm good at finding what's wrong with someone. But, since I can't figure it out, I'm a little on edge about what it could be. We know it can't be cancer, my flames can easily get rid of it."
Glynda: "Well, whatever it is, we can handle it." Glynda says lovingly. "Besides, it may be something you overlooked. It wouldn't be the first time that happened."
Logan: "Yeah, you're right." Logan said as he held her hand. "Whatever it is, I'm here for you."
.
As they were holding hands, the doctor that was seeing to them walked in with the results of the tests they took. Coughing to get the lovebird's attention, he spoke.
.
Doc: "Mrs. Goodwitch, I must ask you to answer truthfully to the question I'm about to ask you." The Doctor said seriously.
Glynda: "Very well, go ahead." Glynda steadied herself and replied.
Doc: "From our records, you're approaching 35 years of age. Is this correct?" He asked.
Glynda: "That is correct, yes."
Doc: "I understand you may resent me for asking that but I had to." The doctor said as he flipped a page on the clipboard he had. "The main reason for that question is because our tests show that you're in your early 20's; almost 22 in fact. It seems you regressed in age."
Logan: "That's... quite... wow." Logan was stunned at the reveal, plus with the amount of time he spent with her never noticed until the doctor pointed it out. "That might be due to my Semblance, Phoenix Fire. One of its abilities can heal wounds. With how much paperwork we do together, I use that ability almost daily for the both of us."
Doc: "You have no idea of how much that ability would be a blessing here for papercuts alone." The doctor said before he came to a conclusion. "Anyway, it may be that ability of your is responsible for the sudden regression. From what we can tell, there are no side effects that are apparent to this change."
Glynda: "But what about the headaches, stomach pains, and the bloated feeling I've been having?" Glynda asked her main worry.
Doc: "Well, that is something to celebrate for." The doc said happily. "Congratulations, you're pregnant."
.
What followed was Glynda gasping and Logan hitting the floor hard. Though conscious, Logan couldn't believe what he just heard. As he laid face down on the floor, all Logan could think of was that he was going to be a father. His first life robbed him of that pleasure, but this time, Logan was willing to fight gods to let this happen.
.
Elsewhere, the Brother Gods shivered for no reason whatsoever...
.
A while later, Logan was fussing over Glynda. Doing his utmost best to keep her comfortable and handling almost 90 percent of her work for her. Glynda Sighed as she watched Logan work himself into the floor.
.
Glynda: "Logan, honey, you need to slow down." Glynda finally had enough and stopped him. "You're working yourself into the ground. I can still handle quite a bit so you don't need to do all this."
Logan: "I know, it's just that I'm excited." Logan said as he stopped doing paperwork. "Being a father was always something of a dream of mine. Now that it's happening, I just can't sit still."
Glynda: "Imagining yourself playing catch with our son?" Glynda joked.
Logan: "Or playing dress-up with our daughter." Logan replied. "Either way, I will love them regardless."
Glynda: "For now, come to bed." Glynda said as she kiss his forehead. "It's getting late and we both have classes tomorrow. We can announce the news later when we're able to, okay?"
Logan: "Sure," Logan said as he stood and stretched, "Be there in a minute."
.
After Glynda left, Logan cleaned up the paperwork he did and then took a shower. Once he got into bed with Glynda he fell asleep with her in his arms. But what Logan expect to be a peaceful sleep, was far from the truth.
.
Logan found himself floating in a dark void filled with countless stars. Logan felt calm and the familiar feeling of déjà vu. But as soon as he saw who awaited him, it all clicked into place. In front of him was the very same god that brought him to Remnant, Karma, with Magus and someone else he didn't recognize. Sighing mentally, Logan understood what was happening after a few seconds.
.
Logan: "So, is this what you meant by telling me everything about the Brother Gods soon?" Logan asked Magus.
Magus: "Yes, it is, and sorry for not telling you sooner." Magus said as a table and a set of chairs appeared before the group with freshly made tea and cups. "First, let's sit and I can introduce you to everyone."
.
Logan nodded his head and sat down with the rest as he examined the only one he didn't know. The man stood a good head and a half taller than him and his eyes were constantly changing colors. He wore a simple yet fancy, white renaissance prince outfit with several places constantly changing color like his eyes. Add in his sharp jawline, thick beard, and monocle; Logan couldn't help but think of him that he was a regal prince or even a king of some sort.
.
Karma looked different from what Logan remembered she looked like. When he first met her previously, she appeared as a massive shadow that he couldn't make out yet the feeling Logan felt when looking at her was just the same. Karma appeared as a tall and curvy redheaded woman in a green sundress and sandals. Her eyes were the same stunning green as her dress and she was just as beautiful as any woman could be.
.
Magus was wearing the robes he had on when Logan met him for the first time that week ago. The same blonde hair and the same green eyes that seem to pierce into those that look into them. The only thing different was that it seemed like he hadn't slept in a while.
.
Magus: "For starters, you already know the Goddess Karma, Logan." Magus said as he gestured to Karma. "As for our next guess, this man is the God Auren. A god older than Karma but just as important nonetheless."
Logan: "It's a pleasure to meet you." Logan said respectfully.
Karma: "Still the same as ever." Karma giggled.
Auren: "Charmed." Auren simply said.
Magus: "Sorry about him," Magus said as he looked at Logan, "He prefers to get things done first then relax but there are always things needing to be done."
Logan: "I see." Logan nodded in understanding. "So, what are those two brats that try to play god are up to?"
.
Karma: "While they are young indeed, they are still gods." Karma chuckled at Logan's dig at them. "But, to the point, they've been amassing a large amount of Ether. Ether is the life force of a planet, regardless of whether that planet has mana or not. Without it, the planet will die. They believe that if they harvest all of the planet's Ether then they could finally break free of the planet and be able to travel to different worlds. And from there, spread their pitiful influence."
Logan: "Like I said, they're brats." Logan repeated. "But, I'm guessing that the Ether is not the only issue with their plan."
Magus: "That's right. While Ether provides nourishment for planets, it also does the same for the Gods that are bound to that world." Magus explained. "Be it giving them ichor, the food of the gods, or by other means. The Brother gods believe that if they gather all of the planet's Ether then they could use it to unbind themselves from Remnant."
Logan: "What about the massive summoning spell matrix that's covering a massive part of Remnant?" Logan asked. "From what I've been able to find, the number of resources used for it to activate is ridiculous."
Auren: "That's part of their plan." Auren finally spoke up. "They plan on using it to forcibly summon themselves to circumvent the binds that limit them from doing what as they please. As for what binds I'm referring to, it's those that were forced upon them after they wiped all sentient life off of Remnant."
.
Karma: "That was a massive taboo that even gods like myself can't do without fear of repercussions." Karma explained. "It's that sentient life that gives birth to gods through belief, actions or simply praying to a higher power. Killing all sentient life on a planet, especially those that gave birth to them, earned the two gods the scorn of others, massively weaken them through their actions, and having their divinity bound to Remnant permanently."
Logan: "Permanently bound?" Logan questioned.
Auren: "Meaning, even if they managed to extend their divinity beyond their home planet, they would never be able to leave or use their divinity anywhere else." Auren spoke gravely. "It's akin being crippled at one's birth to a god and being tortured as eventually the planet will die when the Ether runs out. From there, it's a slow and painful death when the god dies from hunger or the planet explodes. After all, Ether is a finite resource for each planet."
Karma: "Once it's gone, it can't be brought back without outside help." Karma finished the explanation. "Even with outside help, it's almost impossible to revive a planet."
.
Logan: "So, what's their full plan?" Logan asked after a moment of thought.
Magus: "From what I've been able to uncover with the help of Auren, they plan on using the current Grimm King to gather up all the necessary components to activate the Summoning." Magus told Logan. "The current Gimm King, aptly named 'King', is going through with the preparations believing they are the key to finally riding the planet of Grimm. Once and for all."
Auren: "While grim, the planet known as 'Remnant' can't have the species known as 'Grimm' removed or killed off completely." Auren spoke up a very harsh truth. "The Grimm species are just one part of the planet that will die with the planet as they are created by the Ether as well. Getting rid of the Grimm means getting rid of Ether that is feeding the planet. One can not exist without the other."
Logan: "I've had interactions with the current Grimm king." Logan spoke up. "according to him, he's been losing control of some types of Grimm for the last few years. Having their normally red eyes turn blue and seemingly become more violent in nature."
Magus: "Logan, that's impossible." Magus talked. "Once one becomes the Grimm King, they have control over all Grimm. Nothing short of the God of Darkness taking control can do that sort of thing."
.
Logan: "What about Remnant?" Logan asked after the revelation.
Karma: "What do you mean?" Karma replied.
Logan: "Is it possible that Remnant itself is trying to use the Grimm for something?" Logan asked the group.
Auren: "It's possible..." Auren said as he fell into thought. "I'll have to check with a few other gods to be sure." As he finished speaking, Auren stood and vanished.
Karma: "Sorry about his abrupt departure." Karma apologized. "He gets like that sometimes. And it appears we're out of time."
Magus: "Sorry if this was too much in such a short amount of time, Logan." Magus said as Logan started to fade. "If anything else comes up, I vow to let you know."
.
Before Logan could respond, he faded away. Karma and Magus sat in silence as they looked at where Logan faded from. Both were hoping Logan had a better understanding of what was at stake. Soon, Karma left. Leaving Magus alone in the starry void as his thoughts ran wild.
