[A/N: Did you know that Mink is a metallic color?]
Logan sighed as he finished explaining what happened ever since he took some scrape from the Old man. The Old man understood and asked to see the sword Logan made that put Atlas in its place. Logan had prepared for that question and pointed to a storage compartment as he flew. The old man, even though he never really flown, stood and managed to get the compartment open after a few seconds. Inside was the 'Rat King's Stinger' that Logan made and fought Winter with.
The Old man nodded his head as he appreciated the work Logan put into the blade. Even with his old age, the Old man could tell that Logan put his heart and soul into making the blade, even if it was a rush job. The old man was proud of Logan's skill. He even said it was a precocious sword.
Logan just said it was just a sword. Swords could be created, repaired, or even broken. A human life was much more precocious than any sword ever created. A sentiment that the Old man agreed with. After their small conversation, the two just kept quiet and enjoyed the view. Neither of them really bothered making any sort of small talk during the flight.
In less than an hour of flight, Logan could make out Menagerie's coastline. Logan nodded his head as he checked the time, thanks to the distance they covered, they got about two hours before the sunset. Once Logan made sure that the pelican was steady, he called Sienna Khan.
Sienna (On-call): "Hello?" Sienna asked as he answered her scroll
Logan: "Hey, Sienna. It's Logan." Logan answered her. "I know, I know. Long time no see but I need a landing pad, I got a plane loaded with cargo and see no place to land." Logan said as even before he picked up the Old man, he had loaded it with cargo for Menagerie.
Sienna: "Well, I guess work first then." Sienna commented dryly. "What type of plane do you have and what's the cargo?"
Logan: "It's a pelican with VTOL capabilities." Logan answered. "And the cargo is Dust, seeds, dry goods, fabrics, and metals. The basics for any growing city."
Sienna: "I've been needing to send some people out to get more supplies like that." Sienna mumbled but Logan heard her. "Very well, I'll get a landing zone prepped as soon as possible."
Logan: "Thank you, my ETA is five mikes. See ya soon." Logan said as he hung up and then he heard the Old man cackling in the back.
Old Man: "FIve Mikes? What are ya, some army brat?" The man asked.
Logan: "I learned it from the same person that taught me to fly, and it helps when communications are shotty." Logan explained with a small lie. "And I never figured out your name, what is it if you don't mind me asking?"
Old man: "Fair enough, and I never gave my name out unless you were family." The old man said. "No one ever really wanted to know either."
Logan: "Well, I do." Logan said. "And I've known you long enough for me to consider you family. So just spit it out, I hate calling you 'Old man'; even if it fits you to a 'T'." Logan joked.
Minkael: "Minkael." The man said. "And I'm guessing you found out Tokage is my daughter."
Logan: "She never gave me a name and I only learned you were alive through her drunken rants." Logan explained as he started to shift into VTOL mode to land. "But what gave it away were your eyes. You both have the same eyes, eyes that have seen far too much for any one person to handle."
Minkael: "You have no room to talk, Logan." Minkael said. "I have not a clue of what you went through, but I can tell we're alike with our experiences."
Logan: "It's both a blessing and a curse." Logan said solemnly.
Minkael: "Here, here!" Minkael spoke before Logan heard a bottle open up from behind him as they landed.
Logan just shook his head at Minkael's acknowledgment as the pelican landed safely. AS Logan and Minkael unbuckled and dropped the cargo ramp, Sienna greeted Logan along with several workers ready to unload the pelican. Logan and Sienna greeted each other while Minkael walked off. Before he could leave though, Logan handed him an address to head to. His daughter, Tokage's, address.
Logan and Sienna watched as Minkael walked off as he waved goodbye to them. Logan shook his head as Sienna guided him towards her office. Neither of them talking until they were safely behind closed doors. And as soon as they were, Logan got down to why he was there.
Logan: "I'll get right down to why I'm here, Sienna." Logan said as Sienna sat behind her desk. "I'm here tracking down information on the new Faunus group that seems to have appeared out of nowhere and has been stealing Dust without leaving a trace."
Sienna: "I see." Sienna said. "I understand why you would come here. After all, it was thanks to you that Menagerie became the Faunus city it is today. I wouldn't be surprised myself if they had a base here or were recruiting from here either. But as far as I know, there is no one here doing any such thing."
Logan: "I figured that. That's why while I'm here, I look into it myself to see what I can find." Logan told her as he scratched his head. "For tonight though, I'm gonna find somewhere to sleep. I'm not used to flying my pelican that long." Logan said as he checked his scroll and saw it was close to 8 o'clock.
Sienna: "If you want, you can warm my bed~," Sienna spoke sultry, trying to tease Logan.
Logan: "I have a wife." Logan deadpanned. "And I would rather die than cheat on her."
Sienna: "Wait, what?!?" Sienna shouted, but she couldn't ask Logan anything as he left her office before she could. "Since when was that brat married?" Sienna mumbled to herself.
Logan left Sienna's office and headed for an ole wooden Inn that was still standing from when he was a kid. Even after all the years he's been away, the Inn was still popular as ever. A wry smile appeared on Logan's face as he entered inside and saw it was still as nosy as he remembered it. The Inn in question was three stories tall and the bottom floor was an eatery while the rest of the floors was rooms that the owners rented out for the night as well as slept in.
Logan just shook his head and approached the owner of the Inn, an older fox Faunus, and asked for a room. The owner said it was 50 Lien for the night or 150 for breakfast and dinner. Logan paid upfront for the room plus breakfast and dinner. The owner asked if Logan wanted dinner, which Logan denied, then showed him to his room for the night.
Once the two of them got to Logan's room, Logan thanked the man and retired for the night. By 7 a.m., Logan woke after just passing out on top of the bed. Logan woke up groggy and he felt as if he didn't sleep at all and pulled an all-nighter. Getting out of bed, Logan changed into clean clothes and headed down for breakfast. Sitting at a long table, the owner passed by and got Logan's order for his meal. Ten minutes later, the owner's daughter, also a fox Faunus, came back and gave Logan his breakfast: Eggs, bacon, hot ham, and coffee with a breakfast roll. Logan thanked her and tipped her a few Lien for her troubles.
As Logan was eating, he overheard a conversation about a ship that docked a few days ago. It wouldn't have been unusual, but if what he heard was correct, but it made Logan stop and think. It had been a passenger ship that docked and dropped a few Faunus off, but they seemed overly happy to get to Menagerie. And for the size of the ship, it was far too large and had a very small crew to work it. If what Logan heard was right, the ship could have easily held around 200+ people yet only about ten people were ever seen. That included those that got off and it left about two hours later.
Logan: 'Okay, a passenger ship dropped off four Faunus a few days ago and a small crew of six could be seen at all times. If that isn't a clue, then I'm a dense anime protagonist.' Logan thought as he finished his breakfast. 'Best go see Sienna again. She might have an idea about it since the Black Fangs reports to her. They might have seen more to it or managed to sneak one aboard and got more information about it.'
As Logan got up, he sensed someone watching his movement. His immediate response was to activate his [Presence Detection] to see those around him. What he found was a team of three Black Fangs watching him from outside the Inn. Logan wasn't surprised as they worked in teams of three. With a shake of his head, Logan signaled for the three of them to enter, knowing that they were here for him.
Once the three sat down in front of him, Logan noticed a few things about them. One was they were heavily armed even if they didn't seem like it. Two, two of them were dog-type Faunus. Third, the last member of the group had growths on his knuckles. Logan instantly knew what she was and did not want to get hit by her. Even in his old world, Mantis Shrimp were terrifying.
Logan: "Morning." Logan spoke. "I'm guessing that Sienna wants to talk?"
B.F. 1: "She does." One of the Fangs spoke in a monotone voice. "She wants you to head to her office around noon today as it's the only time she'll be available for the next week."
Logan: "No problem." Logan said as he waved his hand to dismiss them. "I'll be there if I can."
The one who spoke just nodded and then left with the other two. Logan didn't mind the way the one spoke. He personally knew the requirements that were needed for one to join the Black Fangs and had the piece of mind to respect their decisions. Even Logan would be hard-pressed to handle what's thrown at the Black Fangs mission-wise. Besides the unwavering loyalty and the unlocked aura requirement, the training they undergo would kill any normal person or Faunus without aura. Even those with aura would nearly die if they pushed themselves too far.
Logan shook and cleared his head from his thoughts about the Black Fangs training, and back to what he heard before. From the talks around the eatery, those four Faunus were on the outskirts of town in a temporary house until they could find some work. So far they rested from their trip for the first day and then the next day they were going around looking for work. So far they only got some temporary jobs here and there, but haven't made enough to get anything beyond the basic needs for day-to-day life.
Logan sighed as he knew he would have to talk to them at the very least to find any sort of answers about the new Faunus group. He has hope that they would at least have an idea to make this easier for him. But, Logan didn't give it that much hope and, if anything, just hoped they had a lead to something. Not to mention he had to go and see Tokage and Minkael and see how they are handling seeing each other after years. The only thing he knew about their relationship was that they're father and daughter.
Logan sighed deeply and ordered another coffee while pulling a bottle of whiskey from his [Inventory] discreetly. He knew it was going to be a long day.
