When I woke up at 9:30 am I heard a ring on my phone. I looked at my phone and saw two men outside wearing delivery uniforms. They were carrying what appeared to be a large rectangle carbon fiber box. I opened the door, and almost immediately, one of the men said, "Good morning, sir, here's your capsule. Could you please let us inside," he said it with a rushed voice. "Uh, sure," I replied back and stepped aside to let them pass. I watched as two men took out the capsule and laid it out on the floor. I thought it would look like a scary sci-fi capsule you would see in m-videos. However, to my surprise, it had a silver tint, with bits of carbon fiber spots all over it. The carbon fiber spotted all around it confused me a bit, it was a bewildering design. But, I'm not a scientist, so it's not like I can say anything. When they finished, one of the men gave me a nod of his head and left. Before I jumped into the game, I decided to go do some research on the game first. Admittedly, this took a lot more time than I expected. It ended up taking me two days to research the competition and the general information of the game.
To summarize the game, it had six significant nations. The Greater Empire of Sevelilda, which was in the north. They are pretty much your stereotypical winter every season, tough people type. The Divine Light Empire, which belonged to the east. They had an emperor and government, but its church is what really controlled the empire. With the pope genuinely being the one with the highest authority. It's quite a dangerous empire considering that all its masses could be controlled by the church. The empire of Tibeth layes in the East, they are technically a kingdom. However, due to how prosperous its sea trade and navy is, it's still considered a decent powerhouse. In the South was the Rangaldish Empire. It's pretty much considered to be the desert empire. With most of the geography being desert with cities and towns littered throughout. It had fewer cities than even the kingdom of Tibeth. However, due to how massive the desert was. Being bigger than the Divine Light Empire, and the Greater Empire of Sevelilda put together. They are pretty much considered an empire. Despite the small number of cities they had, the major powers were still afraid to invade them. Though its military is considered to be minor, their soldiers and officers were masters of the terrain. And could easily defeat any invasions by just bleeding out all their forces, and cutting off the supply lines. Thus forcing their enemies to have to retreat or risk dying of starvation or thirst. Their kingdom also used slavery, meaning they would just use them to their war advantage.
Then in the middle of the continent, there was the Imperium of Terra. Yes, that's right; they named themselves after the name of the world, but they had the power to back it up. They are so gigantic that even if the other empires' territories were put together, it still wouldn't match the size of Terra. Their military was so powerful that they could go to war with all the rest of the empires and yet could come out on top. With the cost of most of their forces. The only thing that kept the Imperium of Terra in check was the empire of Kedonidd. It's an archipelago nation. However, their military was nothing to be reckoned with. Having an incredibly strong navy, with a strong ground force. What truly made their military more potent than the rest was their rare metal that could only be found in Kedonidd, Afluecium. It was a metal that it is even stronger than what the elite forces of Terra are equipped with. Although, this material takes a severe large amount of time before being able to be mined again; taking an entire year. Because of the many years, they've been able to stockpile, 100,000 of their soldiers have been equipped with it in full gear. Meaning that these guys could at least fight a 600,000 strong army, and still easily come out on top. This is what truly makes the Imperium of Terra afraid of invading the rest of the central continent. They know that as the years go by, Kedonidd will only become stronger. Instead, the Terran government keeps funding the research of technology and other experiments.
In hope; that they can figure out a way to counter Afluecium. Plus, Terra is such a big empire. A barony has about the same or even more territory than that of a marquis in another empire or kingdom. This further goes all the way up the hierarchy. To the point where a duke has about the same power as that of an empire or nation. Couple in the fact that it's a human empire, internal fighting is practically a given. With all these factors combined, it means that the central continent is surprisingly peaceful. There are, of course, other kingdoms and small empires spread out the planet Terra. But, when matched against the central continent, where all the major powers are, they are quite insignificant.
There are also a bunch of races, and not going to lie, a bunch was an understatement. The number of races that exist in AscendFail Online is too many to count. But, if you were to divide them up based on type, then the races would be Humans, Elves, Dwarfs, undead, beastkin, waterkin, and semi-intelligent monsters. These semi-intelligent monsters were orcs, goblins, and various other monsters that have a little bit of intelligence. The rest were monsters, spirit forms, basically whatever you can imagine existed somewhere in AscendFail Online. Dragons also lived in the game, they are considered to be almost supreme beings. Even the Imperium of Terra would not want to randomly provoke a dragon. But, these dragons exist in very few numbers. With them being almost impossible to find, the only area where you can find a dragon is the Black Dragon Island. Named after the mighty black dragon, which was the king of dragons back when only dragons were said to exist. Nobody really knows anything before the other races came into existent. The races just assumed that the dragons were the only intelligent race that existed at that time. Anyways, it was pretty much impossible to get on that island because you needed to be at least level 500 or have an invitation by a dragon. Which is also pretty much impossible. Fighting a dragon was also out of the question, considering that even the weakest are level 700. Nobody knows who the strongest dragon currently in AscendFail Online. But, since the lowest dragons are level 700, its thought that the dragon could be even above level 1000! According to the church of the Divine Light, angles, and demons do exist. However, as I said, that's only according to the church. And the game developers neither deny or confirm, meaning that people don't really know. Although all these races exist, you could only play certain types. With you only being able to play the six primary races, which were the humans, elves, beastkin, waterkin, dwarfs, and undead. The undead exists on the continent of barren. As the name implies, it is a barren wasteland, where it's said that the darkness is so pungent that light can't reach it. Basically, it's almost like a different dimension type thing. Where you know like that Narnia book where they pass through a closet and enter a new dimension. It's said that if you discover any new races, then you are allowed to play as them. Except for monsters, and various other beings with no intelligence. You can play as a dragon, but that's actually borderline impossible. Not only do you need numerous amount of conditions and requirements. You need permission from a dragon to convert your race, and you need a specific item that is like I said, borderline impossible to get.
To be honest, I don't really have much hope to do well in the game. My best hope is that since Chung Zhang seems to be a game developer, he might be able to hook me up. For now, though, I'll just focus on exploiting some knowledge that gamers before me found out. So with my research out the way, I hopped into the capsule. When I got in, my surroundings slowly faded out until I saw an empty void all around me. Then I heard a masculine voice say, "Welcome to AscendFail Online, please select, your settings.", No screen showed up before me, so I assumed it must be voice recognition.
"I chose to be a human and spawn me in the city of Eliatrope in the Divine Light Empire. I know I'm lame by choosing a human, but I didn't want to deal with adjusting to a different body. Plus, considering that we're all eventually going to live in this world one day, I'd prefer to be human. Instead of like some flesh eating zombie, or whatever. It also seemed that I was unable to change my appearance, name, or gender. Not like I would choose to be a trap or anything, but you know, the option could be on the table if you what I'm saying. Okay, sorry for the joke, I won't say that again. I'm kinda feeling disgusted by what I said there. Anyways, I chose to be in the Divine Light Empire, because I heard it was pretty easy to become a paladin. A paladin can pretty much resist anything, even magic attacks. Plus, I could help some people and feel better about myself, I guess. Okay, that was a lie. I mean, of course, I'm trying to become a paladin; however, the people are controlled by the church. This means the church's ideas are used by the common people. Meaning that killing monsters on the outskirts of the empire causes the people to award you with items. Although it may seem small at first, as time goes on, you can get pretty good awards. Such as even some baronies or possibly even counts or above awarding you. Depending on what type of monster you slay. I also heard that the trainer for paladins wouldn't immediately force upon you an ultimatum to join them; once you've reached a certain point. The reason for this is because it would go against the church's ideals of freedom. But in reality, it's just to make a good image of themselves. But, their humans, so it's expected they all have their ulterior motives. "Your wish has been granted, good luck summoner," the man's voice sounded as void faded away. The next thing I know, I was in the city of Eliatrope. One thing I immediately noticed, though, was my stats. There was almost nothing there?! And also what's up with those names?!
