Chapter 12 - What Over Takes

Rachel was fighting as much as she could. Images plagued her mind causing irrational emotions and actions. It felt as if chains weighed her down, binding her to a mattress covered in filth, but in reality she was trapped in a golden cage.

All she could do was scream and curse the existence of God. Her true self had long since slowly been locked away in a cage leaving behind what she thought was a friend, only to find it was a monster who slowly trickled in.

It was a deep red-eyed monster, who promised eternal companionship. It came at her lowest point, whispering sweet nothing's. The entity slowly began changing her. She had never even noticed until it was too late.

"Stop thinking, surrender," A dark presence spoke. The entity growled and circled the cage like a tiger. It then began to pace back and forth.

She clenched her head as she shook, her eyes were wide and unblinking. The floor was her only companion.

"Let me take care of you. Let me have your body entirely. Give in to me, it is that simple." It's clawed hand reached in between the bars and grabbed her chin. The entity smirked displaying two sets of long jagged teeth with drool leaking down its face. "Don't you want to be together forever?" It questioned her in a mocking tone.

"Why," she whispered. "Why are you doing this to me." Her voice felt foreign to her ears, unused, raspy even. Her moving lips felt like sandpaper smacking together. "Why me?" She trembled trying to pull away.

The smirk widened, and its nose wrinkled. "Why," The entity laughed. "You know why. But that is usually the case with you humans," it responded. "Why me, boo who, What did I do wrong. It is not my fault. It made me do it." The entity released her chin and placed the back of its hand to its forehead, and pretended to swoon. "I'm innocent in all wrongdoing the demon did it."

"Let me tell you a secret, we can only push the binds of the mind. Every impure thought, every infraction, every little lie gives us chance. It only takes following that little subconscious thought for us to borrow in. The funny thing is people hide their most sinister thoughts hoping that they would never be exposed. They hide behind their pretend moral codes and religions, thinking it will save them, without actually fully believing or following."

Her eyes widen, and she clenched her head again. Thoughts circumvented in her brain, "So, religion can't save me."

The demon snarled, "Yes, it is hopeless. Fall in deeper to me."

A sudden golden light appeared shining brightly. A voice echoed from it, seemingly pouring out. "If thou so wishes, I can set thou free Rachel."

The demon howled and fled into the darkest reaches of her mind. It needed to gain strength quickly. The Demon knew he still held power over her.

Rachel's looked up. Her eyes began to gain the luster they had lost, and she moved to stand. Her hands shot forward reaching toward the light. "Save me," she whispered.

The demon suddenly felt an aura similar to himself, he returned laughing. He headed back to the front of the Golden cage.

The pretend light presence lost its golden hue, officially becoming a dark purple.

Rachel's eyes lost their luster, and she collapsed.

She looked up to the ceiling of her cage. Hope was fictional. The bars of the cage began to fade into an antique silver. The door flew open. Her dress became darker, giving the once blue an almost black appearance. Rachel's pink lips became black. A black veil covered the upper half of her face.

Both demons howled in delight. They held out their hands, welcoming their prey.

Rachel's hands reached out toward the demons wrapping around each of them. She quickly dragged both of them into the cage. They let loose a sound of surprise, and crackled  upon reaching her.

Rachel grinned, revealing sharply pointed teeth.

As they began to speak, her mouth unhinged, and she sunk her fangs into one demon, while the other she kept a firm grip on.

" Together forever," she mumbled. "The best way to achieve that is to become one."

The cage door slammed shut as black blood leaked from the bottom.
