Chapter 3 - Chapter 3-Rebirth

Inside a dimly lit room, sat two figures lightly bathed in shadows

One such figure was that of an amiable looking old man, dressed in a fine silk robe

The other was a middle-aged man who exuded an aura of oppression, and was dressed in a suit of glistening red armor.

"My Lord.... I fear that the situation is a lot more severe than we anticipated!" said the amiable old man in a stern tone.

"How severe?" the armored man asks, his voice sounding so cold that the room even seems to dip a few degrees when he speaks.

"I've tried everything I can to wake the Young Lord, but nothing seems to be working. You should know that a simple coma is nothing before my skills, but nothing I do is working. Not only that, but the Young Lord seems to be in a large amount of pain, while there are no issues with his physical body. I fear... that somehow, his soul could have been damaged." The old man said with a pang of sadness in his voice.

This new revelation causes the middle-aged mans eyes to grow even colder, as his body starts to emit a dense aura of bloodlust.

"There's no way a little pissant in the Meridian Opening realm could harm my son's soul." The man said with no emotion. After he ponders for a moment, he then continues, "Only someone at the Spirit Core stage can cause damage to someone's soul, but no Spirit Core stage master would be willing to stoop down to cause damage to the soul of someone who hasn't even started the martial path, much less when they would sense my aura on my son. Doing so would be the most redundant decision they could ever make."

"My thoughts exactly My Lord. Only someone as equally as powerful as you would be willing to stoop down and harm the Young Lord, just to spite you ." The old man replies solemnly.

"The people who're as powerful as me in the kingdom can be counted on two hands, and only 2 of them have grudges against me, but our grudges aren't deep enough to make them do something like this.." The middle-aged man says with a hint of confusion.

"Human nature is a fickle thing. Sometimes you can try to explain why others do the things they do, but one can only know truly by asking the person themselves" The old man says

"And ask I shall! I will find the bastard that did this to my son and ask them why they did it, before ripping their heart out!" The middle-aged man said with murderous determination

'I pity the poor soul that harmed the Young Lord. Every dragon has its reverse scale, and the Lord's reverse scale is his son. Regardless of the Young Lord's lack of talent, the Lord has used hundreds of spirit herbs on the Young Lord from birth, trying to change his fate, fighting against the heaven's themselves' the old man thought to himself.

"Is there anything you haven't tried Keos?" The Lord asks with a hint of hope in his tone.

"Over the past two weeks, I have tried everything I know of My Lord. If it is truly a soul injury, then I am helpless in this situation. Maybe we could try and hire a Soul Shaman from the Underworld Palace? Maybe they might have ways to wake the Young Lord?" The old man said with defeat in his tone.

"That's a viable option, but I don't fancy putting my son's safety in the hands of those necromaniacs. However, it seems that is the only ans..." The Lord is cut short when the door to the room they are in is opened with a large amount of force

The one who opened said door was a very delicately dressed maid, with a frantic look on her face

"Maria! Since when have you been able to barge into my room unannounced?!?" The Lord says with anger in his tone.

"My deepest apologies My Lord, but I wouldn't have done it without good reason." Maria said with fear in her voice.

"And what is that good reason?!" The Lord asked with annoyance.

"It's the Young Lord! He's finally awoken!" Maria hurriedly reports

Both men jump up with inhuman speeds, and before Maria can say another word, they are already out the door.

'Wow, that bastard really wasn't kidding when he said that the pain would be unimaginable!' Ekosus thought to himself when he finally regained consciousness. Although the pain knocked his soul unconscious, Ekosus still felt the pain. It was like a billion ants were tearing at his brain. ripping it into pieces. Mysteriously however, every time Ekosus felt like he was going to go insane from the pain, he would feel a cool sensation wash over his body, dampening the pain just enough to make it bearable.

'I can feel my physical body right now, so I'm guessing I'm no longer in my soul form. Guess I should probably get up and see where I am' Ekosus thought to himself

Ekosus then tries to open his eyes slightly, but the light entering them blinds him for a second.

The next second though he hears a loud crashing sound, and it startles him enough for him to fully open his eyes and gaze at his surroundings

He is greeted by the sight of a very large and beautifully decorated bedroom. Not dwelling too much on the room though, he searches for the source of the sound and his eyes focus on a girl who is dressed like a maid, looking at him with shock written across her face.

Raising up in the bed he is lying in Ekosus warily looks at the girl and asks, "Where am I?!"

Finally jolted out of her stupor, the maid scrambles to speak, "Young Lord it's fine, you're safe and at home! Your father will be so thrilled to find out you've awoken, excuse me for a moment while I go find him!" The maid says frantically while she runs out of the room.

'Young Lord? I'm a Young Lord? And what's this about my father? My parents are long gone, there's no way my father could be alive.' Ekosus says to himself in confusion.

He then rises from the bed, and walks around the large room, looking at the beautiful golden and silver decorations that line the whole room. as he walks by a golden adorned mirror, he stops and then looks at himself in the mirror and is stunned.

Instead of seeing his usual, unremarkable appearance he is greeted by a young and handsome face.

"Is that me?" Ekosus asks out loud. Seeing his mouth move as he speaks, Ekosus is in shock.

"What the hell?!? First Gods and now I'm in another body?! What the hell is going on with my life?!" Ekosus says with exasperation, trying to make sense of everything he's experienced.

He's not given much time to adjust before the door to his room is blasted off of its hinges, terrifying him out of his thoughts.

Two men then enter the room, first scanning the bed, and then searching the room until they focusing in on Ekosus.

"Thank the heaven's! He's already up and moving!" Yelled the one in a suit of armor, while the old man nods his head in acceptance of his words.

Looking towards Ekosus, the intimidating man lets out a gentle smile, and slowly walks towards him.

Wary of the man's approach, Ekosus grabs one of the sharp wood shards from the broken door for protection, and asks warily, "Who are you two?"

His question causes both of the men's faces to change.

"You don't recognize me, Isaac?" The man in armor says stupefied

"Not in the slightest, and my name isn't Isaac. It's Ekosus" Ekosus says, still wary of the man

"It would appear that our worries are true, My Lord. It appears that the Young Lord's soul has been damaged, making him lose his memories." Keos says with a heavy heart.

This new revelation causes the Lord's face to grow cold, and his murderous aura envelopes the room, causing Ekosus to barely be able to breathe

That only lasted for a split second before he noticed how he was affecting Ekosus, and hurriedly retracted his aura, and his large figure approached Ekosus

Ekosus, still reeling from the oppressive aura he felt moments ago, doesn't notice his approach until he is within arms reach, and before he has a chance to say anything, he is pulled into a tight embrace by the Lord.

The Lord then speaks in a gentle tone, "Regardless of your lost memories, you are still my son!"

Ekosus at first wanted to resist, but upon feeling the gentle and loving emotions the man was exuding towards him, he decided not to and went with the flow.

'Maybe having a dad again won't be so bad' He thought to himself.
