In the background of my mind I could hear someone calling out to me…
'Darling… darling' A soft voice called out to me, but I was unable to cut my thinking process when finally, I hear a loud yell. 'Darling!'
'Oh… Oh yes mom?' I find myself staring directly in my mom's frustrated eyes.
'Stop over thinking darling, everything will be alright. We will all be there to support you and James just texted me, he and Lizzy will be there in about two minutes.' My mom knows that I have a very strong relationship with James. 'So, stop worrying just take a deep breath and relax.'
I hear a soft mumble on the side of me.
'You are such a cry baby it is annoying stop worrying you will be fine. I can't wait until I graduate so that I can be a grown up too.'
My mom glares at Jessica, she sat next to me. Most of the time she will sit next to me, I do not have a problem with that, but as you can hear she has a big mouth and she is not afraid to use it. She also copy's everything I do at first she will be against what I do and the next moment she will be doing it herself, but she does have a kind hart and she cares it is just the way it comes out of her mouth.
'Jessica you are not helping at all, we will just wait and see when it will be your turn…' my mom mischievously stares at her with a grin on her face as she turns back to face the front. I look of to that side to find her sticking her tongue out at me, just when I was about to tell her that it is rude, but then my dad joined the conversation.
'Do not worry Anna you will do great. When I had my graduation, I was also nervous and anxious, but when I got on that stage all my worries went away. Do you want to know why…?'
Oh no, here we go again, let me tell you something my parents are like the total opposite of me when they were in high school? They were pretty, they were popular, and everyone wanted to be them.
'Once I stepped on that stage the crowd went wild for me especially all the ladies. In that moment I just looked at your mom and I yelled to her at the bottom of my heart that I love her. That was the best day of my life. You see Anna you never know what might happen when you set foot on that stage just be brave and go with the flow'
This is my dad's go to speech whenever his children are nervous or have something big coming up, he will tell this story the exact same way.
My mom will always reply with; 'Yes your dad is right that was the best day of our lives and that is where it really started. Just do your best.'
The two little twins also had something to say to me; 'Yes just do your best sister and don't listen to the meanie sitting next to you.'
Once the twins got in their word the Minnie van went quite again, I look of to the side to see Jessica's reaction.
Suddenly she lifts her hand up, for a moment I thought she was going to hit me, so I leaned the opposite way but with a sift voice she said; 'Good Luck. I am voting for you.'
'Thank you'
Once again, the van went quiet, I could feel my heart beating faster with each passing moment, I am so nervous right now, why can't I just keep calm, come on let's get it together. Let's take mom's advice and take some deep breaths.
My dad says as he looks in the rear-view mirror at me; 'Okay guys, let's listen to some music.'
I looked up and saw my dad staring at me and I nod my head. Oh, thank goodness at least it is not as quite as it was before. Once my dad turned on the radio, we hear the song ending and our family favourite starts to play, my parents started to sing, then my younger siblings and slowly I joined in as well. It seemed to help and calm down my nerves, until I felt the car slowing down, I opened my eyes and my school immediately came into my sight. Then the van came to a halt. We stopped next to my parents' good old friends from high school that they still talk to…
Let me tell you a bit more about the family that take part in my big secret. They also have a family; the mom, the dad, the older brother and a younger brother. My dad and his dad started high school before our mom's, but they eventually found each other, they all became friends and they keep their strong relationship intact. My parents and his parents had their weddings at the same time and gave birth to me and their eldest at the same time. Mr. Michael owns his own business and it is also internationally based, his business centres around IT and how to improve technology. Mrs. Michael is a stay at home mom, looks after her kids and is like my second mom she is very nice. Their youngest is 12 years old, his name is Jake, he goes to school with Emily and Evans, they also play soccer together. The twins and Jake have had a very strong friendship since they were born. Their oldest son who is 18, shares the same birthday as me, attends the same school as me and he is the so-called healthy male I talked about earlier. Yes, that is right the one that never talks to a female and was my childhood crush… Yeah him, that exact same guy.
