As Karu walked home kicked a rock he watched it bounce off the curb and role out into the middle of the road. "Ugh, today was a mess," Karu mumbled to himself. After everyone had agreed to join Lynx Yu had gotten a call from someone named Alex and rushed off.
Karu stopped when he got home and went inside. "Ah, Karu your home where were you." Lily, Karu's sister ran down the stairs.
"Hey, Lily. I was hanging out with my friends." Karu said as he took off his coat and shoes. He dropped his bag on the ground and sat down on the couch to relax. He heard the sound of Lily running up the stairs and returning moments later. Her head appeared around the corner as she pulled on her coat.
"I'm going to hang out at the arcade, can you tell mom and dad for me?" Karu looked up at her as she tied her shoelaces.
"Sure, don't be too late though." Then Karu heard the sound of the door slam shut as she left. After relaxing for a while Karu went to finish up some homework.
At around seven Karu heard the sound of Lily coming home. Their parents had come home earlier and their mom was finishing making supper now. Karu walked out to the kitchen and sat down as Lily plopped down into the chair next to him. As they started eating Karu kept thinking about Yu. for some reason he was stuck in Karu's mind.
"Hey Karu why are you scowling like that, do you not like your food?" Lily asked as she leaned in front of him and looked into his eyes.
"Ah." Karu realized he'd been frowning and hadn't eaten anything. He ate some food before responding to Lily, but he didn't have an appetite.
"The food's good I'm just not hungry, and I was thinking about something that's all."
Lily stared at him for a moment trying to figure something out. "What were you thinking about?" She finally asked.
"There's a new member of Musical Sky that just joined. He's really good. I was thinking that we might have a concert soon." It wasn't entirely true, but it wasn't a lie either. It was true that Karu had been wondering if they would do a concert soon, but he had been thinking more about Yu then about the band.
Karu forced himself to eat the rest of is meal, then went to bed. the last thought Karu had before he fell asleep was Yu's face when he was smiling. Karu guessed that it would have been really cute. Karu didn't have a chance to question the thought before he fell asleep.
The next morning, when Karu woke up he had more energy than normal. He got up early and ate some breakfast. Then he went for a run, taking the long way to the school.
When Karu arrived he spotted Yu walking towards the school. Karu started walking over to him but he suddenly noticed something. There seemed to a ring of girls circling Yu. They didn't stick to him but gave him a couple feet of space to walk. As the moved towards the school, more and more girls joined the ring. Yu would sometimes greet people that he knew or that were in his class, but didn't seem particularly close to anyone. the moment Yu stepped into the school the ring of girls scattered. some grouped up and started talking while others continued to their class.
Suddenly Karu felt some smack him in the back. He spun around to see May grinning at him. "Yu's popular, isn't he?" She said as they walked together.
"He is, but he doesn't seem to notice it," Karu responded as he looked back over at Yu. Although the ring was gone many of the girls were still following him from a distance.
"Haha, you're right. I pointed it out to him the other day and he was completely surprised and didn't believe me." May laughed, remembering it. Karu watched Yu walked around the side of the building where not many people went.
"Karu come with me, I want to show you something." May suddenly said as she grabbed Karu and started walking briskly, after Yu.
Karu fallowed May around the side of the building, but Yu wasn't there. May seemed to know where she was going and kept walking. When she reached a small window, May stopped. Karu could hear music coming from inside. May jumped up and pulled herself through the window and Karu fallowed.
When Karu got inside he was surprised. The room was small but big enough to fit fourteen or fifteen people easily. It obviously used to be a storage room but everything had been taken out. Yu had a CD player and an mp3 player along with some snacks and water and put them on one of the shelves. Yu was sitting cross-legged on the ground with his eyes closed, while he listened to a song that Karu had heard before.
May and Karu sat down against the wall as Yu kept listening. Karu noticed a notepad Yu's hands, some times Yu would write something and frown. When the song was finished Yu spun around and looked at Karu. He stared at him long enough that it started getting uncomfortable. When Yu looked away and turned to May and sighed.
"May, I told you to stop coming here. So why are you here again?" Yu asked as he stood up and grabbed a bottle of water.
"Rrr... I forgot...?" May said as she looked away and avoided eye contact. Yu sighed again and put the water bottle down. Karu was starting to feel like he'd been for forgotten but kept his mouth shut.
Suddenly Karu heard the sound of the bell ring and all three of them rushed to get to class. Karu and Yu reached their seats just as the teacher came in so they weren't late. But Karu couldn't concentrate on class and his mink kept wandering.
