Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 - Yorthos Raid

I ran down the stony roads of the town and looked around the destroyed and burning buildings in search for survivors. As I did, multiple knights that wore pitch black were scattered around the kingdom. They didn't want peace at all as they slaughtered each and every citizen they found. Some tried to kill me, but I wasn't a small child anymore and fought them off easily.

I stopped in the middle of the road to catch my breath as I looked around. Upon stopping, all I could hear was the sounds of war and my heavy breathing. In the middle of those sounds, I heard a couple of people screaming or crying. I caught this sound and ran to the source of it. After I traced the source of the sound, I saw the very same knights cornering two children while another had his sword buried in an adult demi-human. That very scene reminded me of what I experienced back then. I couldn't let this happen to others...

I nocked some arrows and took aim. I help my breath and steadied my aim. I shot and the arrows grew a white tail soon after my tattoo glowed again. As I sat there in awe and confusion, the arrows soon went to the knights and hit them right in the head. One blocked the arrow and looked straight at me.

"Tch..." I jump down from my position and began to fight the knight. Their fighting style was predictable, maybe because I fought Rhythian one too many times already. The knight grabbed his sword from the body and dashed towards me. He then proceeded to swipe his sword horizontally. I jumped up and landed on his sword. I then let out a small smirk before kicking the man in the head and jumping off it. I flipped backwards to land on my feet, as I did, I went back to ready myself for another fight.

The knight was fazed as he shook his head to shake away the pain. He then focused on me again and dashed to attack once more. I clenched my fist and watched his moves closely. He then went for a downward strike, allowing me to crouch down and punch the man right in the gut. The knight was knocked back a few inches, fazing him, which allowed me to continue into a combo. I took a step forward and let out an uppercut, which lead to a roundhouse kick and a strong kick. This caused the man to be knocked back a few feet and be on the floor. I then equipped my bow and shot the man as I walked by them to comfort the children.

"It's not safe here, go, run away from the dark clouds..." I say to the children as I crouch down in front of them. They were clearly afraid of what just happened and probably traumatized. Despite their fear, they seemed to trust me and followed what I said. I let out a sigh of relief knowing I saved a few more people. I looked at the breach and saw an endless wave of monsters. I still don't know where they were coming from.

I looked down at the knights and scanned their armor to see if an insignia is there. Three of the five knights had nothing while the two had crests that made my anger grow. Those crests were clearly human. The Yorthos Kingdom, I should've known. Is this why they were searching for the Majiked Kingdom? To destroy it? To rule over it? If so...How did they find it now?

I kept those questions in my head as a loud rumble followed by a loud roar echoed near where I was. I climbed one of the surviving houses and saw yet another fear-inducing sight. An army of darkness were scattered around the whole town, but one thing caught my eye, A huge golem with dark roots over it was smashing buildings and trampling over debris. As I looked closer, it seemed to be fighting something. As I looked over, I saw a golden armored knight jump from one of the buildings amidst the clouds of dust. It was Rhythian!

He hen proceeded to slash downwards at the golem. I watched the fight as I was confident Rhythian would win, but that soon changed as I saw that the golem blocked Rhythian's attack and then proceeded to punch him, causing him to be launched into the houses below it.

"Rhythian!!!" I yell out from a distance. Soon after, I saw that the golem turned to me and proceeded to throw a house at me. I turned to see the house was going at me in a fast pace. As I knew that I didn't have enough time to dodge, in a state of instinct, I threw my hands up, closed my eyes, and hoped that the impact would not kill me.

Soon after, the sound of a hard crash was heard along with the sounds of rubble hitting against something hard. I thought I was hearing the last sounds I could've heard. but when I opened my eyes, I saw a green barrier in front of me, which came from the glow of my hand. I watched in awe as the green barrier soon slowly disappeared. Some rubble caught by the barrier fell to the roof below me.

"Cool..."I commented as I looked at my hand, and before I knew it, another house was being launched into my direction. This time, I was aware and jumped into another rooftop. The house crashed into another house, turning both into a pile of rubble flying into the sky. The Golem was about to throw another one but Rhythian jumped out and hit it right in the neck, causing it to stumble and fall. Rhythian landed on a rooftop and crouched down, he seemed to be tired from the fight...

I waved at Rhythian to inform him about my whereabouts. Rhythian saw and waved back weakly. I smiled to see he was fine but then as I did, I saw the Golem stand up and smash down on the roof Rhythian was on. The house soon turned into a cloud of dust and pile of rubble. I gasped in disbelief as I saw Rhythian not there. I looked at the golem and got a huge smile on my face. The golem was stumbling around and for good reason. Rhythian was on the golem's face and was trying to rip out the glowing eye it had. After a few seconds of struggling, Rhythian pulled out the eye and jumped off into my direction. The golem was soon slowing down until it didn't move at all. Rhythian landed on the roof I was on, but not as graceful as he did before. He stubled down on the roof as if he slipped on something.

I rushed and knelt down beside him. I scanned his body for any injuries and was glad to see that there weren't any. I then looked at the "eye" Rhythian pulled out to see that it was a Golem's core, no wonder why it soon turned into a humanoid statue. Soon after, Rhythian was laughing. I looked at him due to this.

"What's so funny?" I asked him causing him to slow down his laughter to answer.

"I've..never..had..a fight like that...in years!!!" Rhythian yelled out whooping. He then stood up and looked at the core and put his palm to it. The core soon turned into a small circular jewel that he then reached out to me.

"Take it, and put it on your bow" Rhythian instructed. I was still worried about him since he took a beating from a stone golem. I took the jewel and summoned my bow. I then plced the jewel on one of the circular spots it had and as soon as I did, the bow then glowed a bright purple before dimming down to normal.

"What did that do?" I asked as I looked over my bow

"You'll see, for now, go and help Jessica" Rhythian instructed again. I pouted from his mysterious answer but ignored it anyways. I did as he said and jumped off the rooftops to find his sister. The raid goes on...
