With the abominations leaving, I ran out of the cave. I was beyond hungry, I needed to eat. My body felt as if it had begun to consume itself in a ravenous storm of gluttony.
Dashing past the cave entrance, I ran down the valley, my eyes scanning each and every inch of the greenery. Hoping for at least some meagre glimpses of life, something succulent, something fresh.
Yet to my dismay...
Nothing. The flock of monsters had devoured everything. In their wake, they left not a single living animal.
In my desperation, I had to switch strategies. The hunger mounting within me quickly began to ignore its desire for meat. It wanted anything.
I continued to dash down the valley, at a pace I never knew I could manage. Yet those thoughts quickly disappeared as I saw the tiny glimmer of red in the corner of my eye.
A rather small clearing which I had previously missed seemingly appeared. In the middle of the clearing, a thicket of small bushes held what I desired, what I needed.
My mind went berserk at the sight of anything resembling something edible. The small circular red berries seemed to drain the world of its colour as both my mind and eyes singularly focused on them.
Soon even the world itself faded away as I eyed down the berries. Without thinking, I began to stuff the red berries into my mouth. With every bite I took, the berries exploded in an unrelenting force of sourness.
Yet, I continued.
My face contorted as I picked each and every berry in the thicket. Having devoured dozens upon dozens of berries, my actions caught up to me. The sheer wall of sourness hit me like a truck.
I gagged as the taste coursed through my taste buds. Yet, as my body tried to vomit, tiny gusts of flame escaped my mouth.
Having filled my stomach, yet unable to empty it. I suffered while spouting flames.
Although it only took a few minutes before the taste faded from my mouth, it felt like hours. At the mere thought of sourness, I couldn't help but gag!
All the animals in the vicinity had fled or been devoured by the abominations. At least for now, I'd have to find something to eat. Anything but those god damn berries!

I immediately tried to forage around for actually edible foods... the countless trees carried scarce fruits, the myriad of bushes, carried even fewer berries. Those few which I managed to find held far too unnatural characteristics. Some of the scare fruits carried vicious poisons, which my body manage to vehemently resist. Other berries contained unrelenting sweetness.
Yet, hours of foraging proved meaningless as the handful of fruits and berries as they were all too scarce.
At least for now, I could barely hold back the starvation
