Chapter 1 - Luck

DeadLand-

A place of no return, a place devoid of life. No one really knows what kind of place this is but the legend says that this land was once full of blooming flowers and mythical creatures, or so what Luck's father said.

Luck was now on a journey to discover the outside world because of his tribe's custom.

"Hah, so tired!"

It's been two days since Luck left the tribe, and he hasn't stopped to rest the whole time. It's not strange for him to be so tired, in fact, it's strange that he still hasn't lost conciousness despite all that time walking.

"Humph"

Luck sat on the sand and used magic to refill his water flask. The water flask shone and the weight immediately gotten heavier. Luck opened the tip and drank.

"Gah! That's feels great."

He wiped his mouth on his clothes. He then took out a map to navigate which direction he should be going. Since there are no structures or even trees to serve as a land mark, Luck relied on his map that has directions and the corresponding constellations. And since it's almost night, stars started to become visible in the eyes.

"Let's see here."

Luck observe the night sky and looked at which constellation he should follow. Since he can only see the stars in the evening, in the day he might get off track, that's why every night he checks where the constellation is.

"Hmmm... Looks like I can reach the first town in the afternoon tommorow."

With that, Luck puts the map inside the bag he brought. He then get some dried meat from it for him to snack on, he also brought out a slice of hard bread.

"Time to eat."

While clapping his hands together, Luck started eating. After a few minutes, the meal time was over and it's time to start walking again. Luck got up and continued his journey with a sigh.

That's when he saw a flickering light in the direction where he was going. Luck fastened his steps towards the light and as he got closer, he felt the ground rumbling and it got stronger the closer he gets.

"I knew it. Seems like a dungeon has been emerge."

Dungeon-

A place of which was said to be what was left from the ancient civilization. It contains riches such as gold, diamonds, magic items, and such. But it also contains ancient traps and of course, monsters too, which is why only Dungeon Explorers gets to raid such places.

Luck slowed down and stopped in front of a large square structure. The structures wall was smooth but sturdy, it gives an oppressing atmosphere but it doesn't seem to affect Luck.

"Hmmm... Should I raid this one? I've already raided two dungeons on my way here, but a third one shouldn't delay me that much, right?"

Luck was no explorer, but that doesn't mean he can't raid dungeons. He has trained since childhood, and he lives in a village hidden at the center of the DeadLand, which means he has to have the ability to protect himself from monsters.

Luck walked towards a what seem to be a writings of some sort.

"Let's see here, 'Green Dungeon, Gaia'. From what I heard from father, Green is much dangerous than Red, Orange, and Yellow Dungeons, right?"

Luck recalled what his father taught him about the Dungeon rankings. There are seven ranking of Dungeons; Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet, correspondingly from less dangerous to most dangerous.

"The other dungeons I encountered yesterday was much larger than this, but despite that this small dungeon is more dangerous than those?"

Luck thougth that it was strange since the dungeon in front of him is a lot more smaller than the others, the 3 meter tall structure dungeon kept him thinking about the mysteries of Dungeons. But a moment later he shaked his head,

"Well, no use thinking about it."

Luck put his right hand on the wall of the dungeon and channeled a bit of his magic. On the soft surface of the wall, an outline of what seems to be an entrance appeared. Luck pushed the outlined part and it then fell inwards the dungeon.

There was no light inside but Luck still walked in despite the darkness, his eyes glowing. This is one of the skills Luck learned from his farther's friend; Feline's Sight, an ability to see clearly on complete darkness.

Usually, Luck doesn't use this magic when there's no illumination. That is because his eyes is accustomed to darkness but not on total darkness, since his village doesn't use magic for illuminations and only relies on the moon at night.

Luck walked slowly further inside the dungeon. After a few minutes of walking, something strucked him as strange.

There was no traps nor monsters appearing.

This made Luck extremely vigilant, but as he got much further in, a single ray of light can be seen. The light seems to come from the moon and has been converge by some kind of glass to illuminate a thing.

Luck observe what was under that ray of light. A transparent sphere with 2 meters radius can be found, and inside that huge sphere was a small creature. With four transparent wings protruding from it's back, it was no doubt an Elder Fairy of the Fairy kin.

Fairy Kin-

One of the 7 major creatures ruling the lands. They come in different sizes depending on their kind and they resemble a human with four wings on their back. It is said that they specializes in Spirit Magic.

"But from what I heard, Elder Fairies should be extinct in this era."

Elder Fairies-

Considered the most powerful fairies of the whole kin. It is said that they can use more than half of all the elements of magic. What differentiates Elders from normal fairies are their small stature.

Luck touched the sphere as he looked at the sleeping Elder Fairy but immediately removing it.

Cold

That was what he felt when he touched the sphere and now that he look closely at it, it seems to be melting because of the converged ray of light shining upon it.

"Just what is it doing here in a dungeon?"

Luck thought. Usually it will be monsters and trap that can be found in a dungeon and after going to the last room of it, treasure will be found. And now that he thought of it, the dungeon he was in has only one room and has no traps nor monsters in it.

'That is strange', Luck thought. Then he suddenly turned his head behind him as he felt a presence but there was no one behind him. Still, Luck remained vigilant and that's when he noticed the two flickering lights revolving around him.

Even though Luck was vigilant, he felt no ill intention from the lights, what he felt was a warn sensation.

"Human child"

Luck heard from the his head. It was faint but it was there, the voice of a woman.

"We beg of you"

This time it was that of a man. Luck held his head to concentrate as the voices were only faint.

'Is this from these lights?', he thought.

"Ple-"

"Please"

"Save our child."

That's when the two flickering lights turned towards the sphere and emerged with the Elder Fairy inside.

"Was that... her parents?"

Luck muttered as he looked at the now glowing fairy inside the sphere.

"Well, since your parents asked me a favor, looks like I will have to get you out of there then."

Even though Luck doesn't know who his real parent is, at the very least he knows what it feels like to be love by a parent, even if you are not blood related.

He looked at the glowing fairy that's expression seems to have change. That's right. The fairy in front of him is now smiling warmly.

I wonder what they look like.

He thought to himself but even he himself doesn't know if he was referring to the fairy's parents or his own parents.

With a flick of his right hand, a mark not visible to the bare eyes started glowing. From his wrist to his shoulder, a mark of what seems to symbolize flames emitted light so bright one has to cover it's eyes to protect it.

The light started to gather on Luck's right hand, slowly he closed his hand seemingly like he's holding the light itself. The light grew longer from his hand and started to resemble that of a sword.

"Uncle Dave's skill 'Dragon Emperor's Sword' seems like it's just right to cut this massive sphere of ice."

Uncle Dave is one of his father's friend. He is the one who founded and the first emperor of the Draconic Empire. That's right, he was the emperor but Luck seems to not know the value of such title and thus didn't really put some mind on it. He is after all, raised in a tribe where everyone is equal.

Luck stanced himself, positioning his body sideways, he lifted the sword with both hands and placed it in front of his chest. Then with a massive step, he swung down the sword and sliced through the very of the sphere.

Crack, Thud

Each half of the sliced sphere of ice stumbled on both side, leaving the fairy floating, and of course unscathed.

Dragon Emperor's Sword-

Made of flame and space magic, condensed to the very limit. This sword can only slice through magic and will only go through anyone without harming them.

"With that, your finally free."

Flicking his hand again, the sword disappeared into thin air.
