When passing through two standard double wooden doors one would see a large gymnasium-like room. At the end were dummies printed with targets; they were of kinds. People and animal shaped ones were alongside humanoid monsters. There were also standard circle targets for simple accuracy. They were all blocked off by a counter to stop people from getting shot. It was a gym crossed with a shooting range. There were three other students there, two boys and a girl. They all seemed to be around 5-6 years old. The girl looked quiet. Where there other girls at this school, or was this a cross-dresser. One boy was a smug prince case, while the other seemed bored of what was happening.
The three were lined behind the counter. There were twelve teachers lining up against the wall, each wearing different colored robes. She walked up to the counter next to the other students. The principal walked through the door in a rush and blurted out, "Sorry, I'm late. Did I miss much?" A woman stated bluntly, "No, but would you PLEASE be on time for once." He looked like he was on trial. The woman sighed as the principal walked next to her. She turned towards the students. "You four are going to take a test to demonstrate your attributes and skills. You four are each one in a million; for you to be born at similar times in the same place is a one in a trillion possibility. First up: Marc Handsworth"
He walked up to the counter. "Now, watch as the great me blasts this dummy away with firebolt!" He waved his arm in front and a stream of fire shot forward. It is common practice to say the magic you are using. This helps ones mind to imagine the spell being used. The dummy lit on fire. As quickly as it did so it went back to looking as it did before. Marc stood there shocked and staring at the dummy. A blue number shone infront of the dummy reading '225-FIREBOLT'.
The woman who gave the initial instructions spoke up, "I forgot to mention the dummy is enchanted with magic to prevent damage; '100' points means one average human is dead." The boy smugly stated, "I killed two. Try to beat that, also why are there GIRLS here?" The woman becoming angrily responded, "The two girls here are just as qualified as the other students, even more so. They both have more mana supplies than you due. NEXT: Amary Zerston"
The girl walked over timidly. She pointed a finger forward and whispered something unintelligible. A small string of lightning shot from her finger tip and hit the target. Marc snorted and said "how could she be better than me, what was that supposed to do?" The dummy popped out a number, '317-LIGHTNING PIERCE' Marc quickly shut up. "Third: Iris Silverstine"
He walked up to the counter. Still looking bored he looked at the dummy and flicked his wrist at the direction of the dummy. Nothing happened, but he still walked away. The dummy produced the numbers again, '529-SPACIAL COLLAPSE'
Everyone, including the teachers, was shocked. He learned magic that was considered some of the most difficult magic, and he just waved his hand like it was nothing. If Filia truly wanted to live a happy life with no difficulties she could hold nothing back. "Fourth: Filia Atmos Strondom" The three other contestants looked dumbfounded. They were in front of royalty. Even if the country was a patriarchy. She still held more power than any of them.
She walked up to the counter and closed her eyes to focus. With her hand held out she focused on the dummy. She focused on the magic that it was made of. Using her 'Mana Vision' she could she 'see' objects even with her eyes closed. She had already decided what to do. She would disintegrate the dummy. She focused on the chemical composition of every molecule. She broke down every bond. Suddenly she opened her eyes and lowered her hand. The dummy was no longer there. All that had remained was dust.
In the dummy's final moments the score came, '9999-MANA MANIPULATION' everyone was in shock. The dummy which could withstand tonnes of TNT was destroyed...by a five year old girl. When they saw that she used 'mana manipulation' to destroy it they prayed that they would never face her in battle. 'mana manipulation' is the basis for all magic. You first need to manipulate the mana making up everything. You 'tell' the mana what to do. For example 'heat up metal', but if you can master this you can directly control objects. It's like going from addition to algebra. It usually took a century to master this technique.
She turned to the principal and apologized, "Principal, I'm sorry for destroying the dummy." The principal regained his senses and said, "It's no big deal, but will you please tell me how you did that?" She looked at him and said nonchalantly, "When I was little I opened a grimoire. I gained the skill 'Mana Vision'. It allows me to see the mana flowing through everything and manipulate it." He looked her dead in the eye and turned to face the woman instructing the students. "Helia, make sure what happened here never leaves the room. Also, take these four to my meeting room." The three other students looked at her as if they would all die.
