Chapter 15 - Why are there assassins?

I take a closer look at the shadows and and search for any signs of energy in its depths, and find a person sitting at the bottom waiting.

I've never seen an ability like this, that means this guy is probably a bloodline bearer.

"Hey, Malcom?" Lucille taps me repeatedly.

"What's up?"

"Are you ok?" She asks

"You've been standing there with your eyes closed for the last five minutes."

"Someone snuck into my room." I tell her.

"Are they hostile?"

"Most likely,"

"Who would try to kill you?" She asks.

"I mean, is there even anyone strong enough to?"

"They sure are trying to see, the guy is a bloodline bearer."

"So what are you gonna do?" Lucille asks.

"Do you think that you can beat him?"

"Easily, but I wanna scare him first." I grin.

This was the easiest job Cairo ever excepted, all he had to do was rough up some kid and he'd get thirty thousand. He chuckled to himself as he entered the shadows and waited for his target to approach. Suddenly the hairs on the back of his neck stood up. It felt as if someone was watching him, he scanned his surroundings and found nothing out of the ordinary.

"You need to relax," He told himself.

"Its easy money, even if someone does come in here it not like they'll find me as long as I'm in here no one can sense me."

He expanded his A.O.P to cover the entire room and started playing on his phone when suddenly, someone grabbed him by the throat and yanked him out of the shadows. He was slammed against the wall, the lights were off but because of his abilities he could clearly see that the kid, who was supposed to be an easy target, had somehow got in the room without him noticing and even found him!

"Who sent you?" He asked.

Cairo said nothing. He'd rather die here than snitch and die at the hands of his employer.

"Now's not the time to be the silent type." The kid warned.

Cairo remained silent.

"So it's like that huh?" He said.

Suddenly, a girl appeared behind the kid, and Cairo silently swore that if he survived this he would train his sensory abilities better, the girl whispered in the kid's ear and he nodded. Cairo immediately felt numbness spread throughout his entire body, he couldn't even move his eyes, and the girl grabbed his head, stood in front of him, and stared into his eyes.

The images Cairo witnessed were so unimaginably horrific and too gruesome to be put into words so we will be switching back to Malcom's point of view.

"What are you showing him?" I asked Lucille.

"It's better if you didn't know" she warned.

"Ominous."

"This guy must be a rookie or something." Lucille said.

"No, he's definitely a pro, a rookie wouldn't have the amount of patience this guy has." I said while going through his pack.

"He was prepared to wait here for several hours, plus these weapons of his are worn and well maintenance."

"Shit, then this plan might not work."

"Why?"

"Cause he's probably used to seeing shit like this if he's a pro."

"Just make the images as disgusting and disturbing as you possibly can. I'll handle the rest."

I close my eyes and pour my spiritual energy into his body. I slow his perception of time down to the point where ten minutes would feel like a hundred years. I also keep him from shitting himself or making any kind of mess. We hold him there for twenty minutes, just to be sure, before we release him. He just kind of sits there for a while before he looks down at his hands, he feels his face and starts sobbing uncontrollably.

"Do you think we went too far?" Lucille asks.

"Nah, he'll be fine." I tell her.

"Just give him a minute."

"H-how long W-was I I-in the-there." He stuttered once he calmed down.

"Twenty minutes." I tell him.

"T-twenty M-minutes?"

He started laughing hysterically tears streaming down his face as he sobbed at the same time.

A weird sound.

"Are you sure he's gonna be fine?" Lucille asks concerned.

"Totally, this happens all the time, it's normal"

"Wait, you've done this before?"

"Oh Look, he's finally calm." I instantly change the subject.

"I-I'll T-tell you who my E-employer is." He said.

"Yeah I was gonna tell you," I wince.

"We already figured it out."

"Wut?" He freezes, his face as pale as a ghost.

"That's why we pulled you out, I know Leon hired you," I told him.

"Trust me, be glad I did, I was planning on leaving you in there for an hour or two but we figured it out after twenty minutes of thinking."

"A-an hour?" He gulped. He spaced out for a second as if he was seeing the images again.

"Is it okay if I leave?" He asks.

"Yeah," I pat him on the back.

"See you later man."

He turns into a shadow and goes out the window, I keep track of him until he leaves school grounds.

"How do you know he's gonna be back?" Lucille asked.

"I just do." I smile.

"It's way too early." Lucille yawns.

"Its eleven forty nine. Besides, do you even sleep?" I ask, smiling.

"Fuck you, I can pretend." She said pouting.

We head to the gymnasium where we're supposed to meet Sam. When we get there he's already doing warm-up exercises.

"Hey guys, " he calls out breathlessly.

"What's good kid?" I ask.

"Nothing much just getting some warm-ups in, do you need to warm-up before we begin?"

"I'm good, if your ready I'm ready."

"Let's go then."

We stood across from each other, sizing one another up.

"Are you sure you don't need a weapon?" He asked, he was holding a pair of nine inch daggers in his hands.

"I am a weapon," I tell him.

"Now, lets fight!"

I dash towards Sam and throw a punch towards his stomach which he blocks with his daggers. The force was still enough to send him flying back though, which I take advantage of by teleporting behind him and knocking him to the ground.

"C'mon man," Sam whines as he pulls himself up.

"I know you're going easy on me, lets do this for real." He smiles.

"It's your funeral kid.
