Chapter 93 - Chapter 93

Looking at the bills in his hands Tony had a weird expression on his face, 'Being a doctor is a very sad business. So little money after getting complained at by a patient.'

Following, 6 short months have slowly passed since Tony has stayed in the town.

During this time his company in the states has grown past the billion dollar cash flow mark, making him the fastest business giant in the world.

Taking a more conservative approach Tony directs the company in the acquisition direction of numerous companies spanning a wide range of business sectors.

Besides that Tony has also opened up a small bookstore in the town market area, selling dozens of new fiction books under his name from past worlds.

Not only that but he has also sold some of his own original works that's been pretty popular in the town bookstore.

During these short months he has also expanded his restaurants to five other towns, the foods are so popular that it requires a customer to reserve their seatings weeks in advance.

After expanding his restaurants Tony also added a dozen more new recipes that boosted the reputations of the resturants' brand.

In the late evening the large sun was just about to set on the full blue sky as Tony and Guan Yu took a quiet stroll on a winding dirt road.

There is something so captivating about living in a farm area, Tony looks to see in the grassfield a bunch of black skinned water oxes sitting peacefully enjoying the calm blowing wind.

Their short oxtails were whipping the air in a battle against the night time fleas that wanted to bite down on their skinny flesh.

Yet there was something about these black oxs that's so similar to the situation of their poverty ridden owners, through the flesh their jagged skeletal ribcage shows through the thin black coat.

Tony turns his eyes to see large tower factories with blue gates blocking the view of the empty inside.

On the roof areas were its tall industrial smokestack chimneys that pierce high into the blue sky.

While its dark steel pipes were reaching out from the soil beneath, producing runoffs that dirtied the villager's water supply.

Tony squats down on the sandy road floor and reaches his hand like a cup into the dirtied stream waters.

Bringing his cupped hand up he could perceive the runoff water dark with little hard plastic balls floating on top.

Breathing out a sad sigh Guan Yu says, "Master Liang, these factories have already polluted this town for 12 years...the villagers couldn't do anything against these capitalistic giants…"

Guan Yu's eyes were saddened as he looked at the looming large factories at their side that produced a dark shadow with their huge height.

"What's beautiful is now long gone," Tony drops away the runoff waters from the stream and looks with a stern expression at the factories.

"But at the same time," Guan Yu continues in sadness, "rural villages need support from these exploiting villains to grow out of their lowly rural foundations."

Their calm discussion of the factory situation was interrupted by the noise coming from in front of them.

They saw a 60 year old beggar wearing an old blue sweater with many holes in the clothing wearing long baggy pants that were supported by a belt made from ropes.

The old beggar was on the floor while grabbing hold of a female passerby's sleeve, "Pease pease help!"

His grey hair was long and uncombed as he shoved a small plastic cup in front of the pretty woman, "Even a sma amount is okay?"

But the pretty woman looked at the old beggar with disgust and pushed him with such a force that he stumbled onto the ground.

Tony reached there in time to support him back up, "You fine old man?"

Guan Yu had an angry expression at the pretty lady, "Miss even if you don't like someone...you don't have to treat him this way…"

The woman scoffs loudly with disgust and spits at their feet, "The world's never fair! If I give, who will give back to me?"

The pretty woman spits on their feet again before walking away while stomping on the floor loudly with her high heels like a primadonna, "Bunch of dumb village idiots."

Guan Yu shakes his head at the indignity spoken by that pretty woman, staring at her distant back.

Taking out all the money in his pocket Tony puts it in the old man's bowl, "This should get you some food old man."

The old man took a deep breath inwards in excitement at the wad of cash, "Thank you! Thank you!"

The old man was holding Tony's hands in graciousness as Guan Yu asks, "Old man where's your family, how come you're begging."

The old man's eyes turned hazy with contemplation, "My young wife 'eft me after I got fired from the factory."

He took a long hard look at the towering walls of the factory behind them then continued, "I used to be a manager, but who woud know that everything woud be gone so quick."

"Ease they destroy; ease they depart," Tony comments hearing the news from the beggar's mouth.

"The young can stand back up and start anew," the old man says, "where can the seniors go whose bones are weak and body aches with age?"

In that second as the old man explained it was as though his body ages at a quick pace, his back becoming more rounded and his face more wrinkled than before.

There's nowhere to go for this old man whose savings were quickly drained away as he supports his young wife's numerous buying whims while trying to find a new job.

Yet this was an ending familiar to Tony who lost everything in the past from his addiction to drugs.

"For the poor there's nothing more fleeting in this world than money,' Tony's eyes looked at the bony body of the old man in dire circumstances.

"Old man, make sure to take care of yourself," Tony tells him while holding his skinny fingers.

"Thank you. Thank you," the old man was sobbing in graciousness as Tony and Guan Yu left.
