Chapter 80 - Chapter 80

Seeing the lightly lighted stairs of her apartment building, Hui Lik breathes a sigh inside.

He walked her to the entrance slowly, his steps were heavy like his feet were bound with lead.

He doesn't want this night to end so quickly, feeling every moment of their time together tightly.

Arriving at the entrance to the apartment building, the two of them were casted in a bitter silence that neither of them wanted to break.

In this street there were only the chirping of the crickets that are hiding away in the corners of the night alleys.

Finally the voice of Miss Wong broke the stillness, "Looks like we are here..Thank you for taking me home Lik."

She stood at the entrance for a moment with hopeful eyes at Hui Lik, then with a polite bow of her head turned around to walk up the entrance stairs.

"Wait!" it was at this moment that Hui Lik called out, grabbing hold of Miss Wong's hand swiftly.

Miss Wong turned around with curiosity and looked down with bashfulness at Hui Lik holding her hand.

Hui Lik saw that there was an awkward tension as she looked down at him tightly grasping hold of her soft hand.

"Sorry," he quickly lets go of his grasp and retracts his hand with an expression of awkwardness.

She smiled slightly with humor seeing his funny expression.

Seeing that she was looking at him with curiosity, Hui Lik says, "Miss Wong, are you free on Saturday or Sunday?"

Hui Lik's heart was pounding quickly as he waited in anticipation for her reply.

'I hope Senior Liang's strategy works,' Hui Lik thinks to himself feeling his fingers becoming sweaty from anxiousness.

She paused to think for a second before answering politely, "I can go on Sunday."

'Yes!' congratulating himself inside.

"Ok, then let's meet up on Sunday! Should I pick you up for lunch or dinner?" he asked again as he focused back onto the conversation.

"How about dinner time," she answered.

"Then I'll see you on Sunday," Hui Lik says while waving goodbye as he walks swiftly away .

It all happened so fast and was unexpected for her, especially the smooth transition of his sentences.

It was soon the night of the date, the road was filled with street lights in every corner.

Hui Lik And Miss Wong arrived at the open entrance to an abandoned two-story white building.

'Senior Liang I counted on you,' Hui Lik was crying secret tears inside, 'yet you pranked me!'

"Lik are you sure this is the right place," Miss Wong asked looking at him.

Mustering a smile he answered, "Yes, follow me. I have a surprise for you!"

When they went inside they saw the ground was filled with broken pieces of white rubbles piled together.

With the bright moonlight shining through the broken windows on the right it all seems more like a haunted house 'surprise' than anything else.

Miss Wong begins to feel a little scared as she hears the wind blowing sound on the old scrappy curtains.

Hui Lik slowly took her up the steps of a long dirty concrete stairs leading to the top of the abandoned building.

Despite the many street lights on the outside road, the inside of the building was still quite dark.

Leaving only the eerie moonlight that produces a sinister feeling to their whole experience.

Miss Wong was walking behind Hui Lik as they ascended the stairs to the second empty floor of the building.

She suddenly heard a strange chirping sound by her side, "Ah!" Grabbing hold of Hui Lik's arm tightly in fear.

She has pitiful eyes as she looks at Hui Lik, "Lik, I'm a little scared..is this house haunted??"

Noticing that she's holding onto his arm Miss Wong quickly let go of it in bashful embarrassment.

"Miss Wong I didn't know you are so easily scared," Hui Lik teased her with a joking smile, "it was just some rats in the building."

"Just some rats," repeating what he said in reasurance. She breathes out, relaxing her fearful guard.

Leading her up to the last set of stairs to the rooftop, Hui Lik looks back to see that Miss Wong has a worried expression with her eyes glancing down.

"Don't worry Miss Wong. We're finally there," Hui Lik comforts while grabbing hold of her delicate hand.

Miss Wong was surprised by him taking her hand as he led up to the last step of the stairs and unlocking the rooftop door.

When Hui Lik unlocked the rooftop doors he saw the dark empty rooftop with a hint of lighting.

Immediately he thought back to what Tony told him yesterday, "When you get to the rooftop clap your hands loudly."

With hesitation he slowly raises his hand up to his face and claps his hands, creating a loud echo resounding in the middle of the full moon night.

Hearing the resounding echo Miss Wong looked up in the air to see rows and rows of lights turning on in the empty rooftop.

"Wow," she was truly amazed by this remarkable scene, "..it's beautiful!"

Hui Lik finally relaxes his anxiety seeing that Tony hasn't pranked him after all.

In the middle of the rooftop he sees a small table covered with a white table cloth with two chairs on opposite sides.

She was not expecting that this would be his 'surprise'.

Turning her head to him she smiles politely saying, "Thank you Lik..I really like it, it's beautiful."

Seeing that simple smile on her face as she speaks Hui Lik felt all the chilliness of the night melting away.

In this moment as he sees that angelic face filled with so much warmth towards him Hui Lik knows that this is the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

It was a simple smile, but in the eyes of Hui Lik it has a twinkle that even all the brilliance of the stars in the sky together couldn't match.

As his eyes transfixed on her face, it was that simple smile with so much beauty that he wants to treasure forever in his heart.

Gently grasping hold of her delicate hand, Hui Lik led her in quiet silence to her seat in the table.
