Later in the day during the night time Ip Man's disciples were still staying guarding the building.
It wasn't a particularly chilling temperature as they stayed in watch. But on this still night there was rustling of the leaves from the wind, and the barking of stray dogs from the streets.
The old white walled school building was still lit up by its electric lamps that hang downward from the ceiling.
With the night moths attracting to the beauty of the light as it flies itself closely.
Ip Man was sitting on a wooden chair against the railing, taking out a red pack of cigarettes, before deciding to put it back into his pocket.
Hui Lik was standing in front of the staircase to the door with his head down to the ground in thought.
Yet he cannot hide away the loud beatings of his heart as he rehearses a set of actions in his head.
'Okay, when Miss Wong comes out…' Hui Lik thinks to himself, but then he heard close footsteps that woke him up from his thought process.
Looking at the door where the light shines brilliantly Hui Lik fidgets with his hands nervously.
Not knowing where to place them like a person about to give a speech to a large audience. But at last puts it in a casual posture behind his back.
Seeing that figure from the hallways coming closer and closer to him made Hui Lik's heart beat even faster.
There was regularity in her footsteps, as she walks he can see her strands of hair behind her back gently floating in the air behind.
In that instant he was captured in focus by that slim figure walking gracefully towards him like she did in the morning.
'Got to stay calm,' he told himself, breathing out a short breath.
Licking his dry lips in anxiousness he spoke up, "Miss Wong, funny meeting you again. Classes ended?
"Yes," Miss Wong answered in a polite manner while her attention transfixed on him, "can I help you?"
He looks down on the ground then explains, "No. May I ask, do you have a boyfriend?"
Tony who was watching this awkward scene from the side was secretly hiding away his laughter by covering his mouth.
Her heart skipped a beat as she was dazed by this question, "No."
"Great," he said. "Would you like a boyfr-"
His mouth was covered by Tony who interrupted him from continuing making a joke of himself.
She was confused by Tony unpredictably coming in to intrude on what Hui Lik was saying.
"Mr. Lik, you were asking," she asks with a small twinkle in her polite smile.
Smiling, Tony greets Miss Wong with his hand, "Miss Wong, my junior Hui Lik is a little drunk-"
"Senior Liang what are you saying? I'm not drunk," Hui Lik says in an inaudible voice of muttering through the hand that Tony covered on his mouth.
Tony was able to easily make up for the strangeness of the situation with a calm smile on his face.
With a tranquil tone Tony answers, " My junior Hui Lik meant to ask you if you have a boy to escort you home. Since it is already quite dark at night."
"Thank you for your kind offer. But I'll be fine Mr. Lik," Miss Wong bowed gracefully.
Seeing that Miss Wong walked away Tony uncovers his hand from Hui Lik's mouth.
His junior Hui Lik watched with longing eyes as he watched her walking away.
Turning his head he asked Tony with annoyance, "Senior Liang why did you stop me?!"
"Have patience Junior Hui Lik," Tony said, patting his shoulder in reassurance.
Hui Lik always found that enigmatic grin of Tony's so hard to comprehend. Like there's an all-knowing twinkle behind those playful eyes.
In the distance Tony sees Miss Wong greeting Ip Man, "Master Ip."
"Hello, Miss Wong," Ip Man begins to stand up from his chair.
"We've put you to a lot of trouble," she said with a polite bow of her head.
"It's nothing," he replies.
At this moment they heard the voice of the principal calling out from the top of the balcony, "Master Ip, you did a lot for today. You should get some rest."
The principal was dressed in his blue striped pajamas readying for his sleep.
"I'm fine. I didn't have any other plans," Ip Man saids back.
At this moment they all look to hear the loud sound of the lock from the gate being broken apart by the group of gangsters at the front.
They were the guys Tony saw in the morning.
Many of the gangsters were carrying weapons like wooden sticks as they charged inwards.
But it is a lot less people than the original scene since Tony already ordered his men to take care of most of the gangsters.
The leader said to his men, "Hurry. You guys, over there!"
He pointed to a direction to the classrooms, which Tony already prepared by locking tightly from the inside so they can't drench the classrooms with oil to set fire.
Hui Lik had a flabbergasted expression as he readies to fight against the gangsters.
Tony pats Hui Lik's shoulder saying, "Sometimes opportunity comes when you least expect it. Go and protect Miss Wong!"
"Okay Senior Liang!" Hui Lik calls out as he rushes in to defend her from the men carrying long wooden sticks.
At this moment as Tony was running to Ip Man he hears a sound from the balcony.
Observing upwards he sees two gangsters pull a bag over the principal's head and they start to carry him off into the distance.
"Help!" the Principal shouts through the bag that was covering his body.
Tony runs to Ip Man's side and knocks a gangster down with a punch, "Master Ip Man let's hurry to save the Principal."
Ip Man takes a last look at Miss Wong in hesitation, but then follows Tony as they head down the long stair filled with gangsters charging towards them.
