Chapter 37 - Chapter 37

There was a sort of pridefulness in her voice that makes her so different from the type of city women these men are used to encounter in the streets of Foshan.

"Look at this feisty young lady," he jokes to his men, forcing a dry laugh, "young lady I don't think you understand your circumstances here." Flashing a smile full of black cavity filled teeths.

"In fact let me tell you your circumstances," continuing his talk and grabbing hold of one of her wrists so tightly that it makes her wince, "I'm Da Hu(Big Tiger). Nobody will save you tonight even if they hear your screams."

The girl scoffs in disgust at the lecherous man slapping his face really hard with her other free hand.

The whole gang frozened into silence seeing their gang leader getting slapped in the face by a woman.

"You dirty bitc-," he raises his hand and slaps right across her face.

Tony was able to get there and time and catch his palm before it reached the girl's face, "Stop! How dare you raise your hand in broad daylight."

The gang leader was full of anger at the annoying fly that just came his way.

Using both hands the gang leader stepped forward to push Tony away.

But when he tried to push, it was if he was pushing a cotton--there was nothing to push!

Tony turned to the side, making the thug stumble and lose his balance.

His feets are planted in a parallel stance making his body rooted like bamboo.

But what is extraordinary is the Qi(energy) that he is directing to his two foot in addition to the strong form stance.

Tony was able to feel the existence of Qi as his practice develops. Finding not only his strength increased, his mind is calmer and more balanced. Less distracted by matters and more stable from excitement.

The thug realized he would not beat him that way, so regaining his composure he quickly turned and threw a punch--but he hit nothing!

Tony escaped that grasp of that punch by turning to the right and thus avoiding the blow.

Seeing the humiliation created by this young boy wearing a gray chang shan, he became furious now.

The gangster lost his balanced compostures and attacked with his other hand.

Grasping it, Tony pulled slightly, before crossing his attacker's arms and trapping them like Ip Man did in their last exchange.

With the ease of a few movements he was now in total control of his opponent.

The crowd of people in the city streets were amazed at how such a young boy was able to defeat such an older strong street thugs in less than two seconds. Moreover making the matter so simple and easy?

The two young girls were surprised at the sudden defeat of the thug. Their eyes were filled with hope and joy seeing someone step in to protect them from the sexual harassment.

Seeing their gang leader so humiliatingly defeating, the rest of the gang members could hold back no longer.

Rushing forward towards Tony and attacking.

This was the first time since Tony learned Wing Chun that he got the opportunity to try his skills on a real fight.

Facing their barrage of attacks Tony did not move a great deal.

When someone punched at him, he would move just enough to avoid the blow. In this moment Tony was slowly feeling the flow of their movements.

In this moment he became 'water', their attacks are like sinking their punches against emptiness.

Before a punch would launch on his body the flow in the movements would direct him away like a flowing stream.

How do you catch flowing water if it's moving? What you intend to hit in the stream flows away from your grasp even when you hit it with quick speed.

When he attacked back he went straight for his opponent's centreline. Either striking him or making him lose his balance.

The centerline is an integral part of the Wing Chun style of Kung-fu. The nucleus on which the defenses and attacks of Wing Chun are based.

And is the shortest distance between the body of the martial artist and that of his enemy.

And by landing the blow centrally the enemy soaks up all the energy from the attack and is propelled backwards or driven off their stance.

Consequently losing their balance and being unable to generate effective counter attacks.

His attacks which struck against the centreline of the gangsters came so quickly that the gangsters did not know what had hit them or how they had been pulled off balance.

In the perspective of the crowd, all they saw was Tony keeping himself upright, never leaning forwards or backwards.

Merely moving his feet and shifting them from side to side to avoid attacks.

Every time when it looked like Tony was about to be caught by an attack, he would suddenly shift the position of his body and dodge the attack by a hairline. Quickly realign his body by stepping directly to his opponent's centre.

Not only using the basic reflexive skills that he learned from Ip Man, Tony also used Sticky Hands against the thugs.

Where his hands would seemling stick to his opponent's like soft glue, controlling the energy of their movements and trapping them by using their own strength against themselves.

Moveover Tony was able to conserve his energy to explosive short punches that almost seemed like it was merely touching one of his opponents.

Although they didn't seem like serious attacks. It would result in sending the opponents sprawling on the ground in great pain and becoming unable to move.

In 2 minutes the gang was defeated by a young boy, showering them in a painful humiliating spectacle.

The gang members were either in great pain or couldn't move at all.

The large crowd clapped heavily in applause for this young martial artist. Tony simply smiled and gave a deep bow before heading away in the direction of the mansion. Leaving behind the two young girls who are in amazement.
