It was Sunday, the Café is closed.
The Su family are in the living room, Daniella was preparing the lunch while her Louisa was busy helping her.
On the couch, Evan was sitting and watching his sons Leo and Ethan playing the car race on the television, while on his side was Alexa.
Alexa kept on massaging her father's arm hoping for him to accept her request.
Her eyelashes flickered as she tried to block his sight from watching her brother with her face.
With her hands on one of his shoulder, Alexa shook it vigorously.
"Dad, when can I have a boyfriend?" she yelled into his ear.
The faint smile Evan had on his lips disappeared upon hearing then, he turned to his daughter.
"Help your mother and wash the dishes," hearing the coldness of his voice, Alexa pouted.
She got up with heavy feet. When a bulb lights up in her mind, a winning smile plastered on her lips.
Then, she turned to her father, her lips were still curving with a smile.
"Can I have a boyfriend if I wash the dishes?" she said excitedly.
And before her father could reply, Alexa ran to her mother's side in the kitchen and stood by the sink.
She turned on the faucet while her lips were humming a lively tune.
Footstep can be heard coming from downstairs, soon Alejandro with Selena in his arm emerged from the stairs.
"What happened to her?" Evan got up worrying after seeing Selena's foot swollen.
Selena gave him a wry smile, "I am fine uncle, I just twisted my ankle," then she asked Alejandro to put her down.
Gently, Alejandro placed her on the empty space of the sofa. Then he sat on the floor and lightly lifted her swollen ankle.
"Maybe we should really go to the hospital," he said with concern while his thumb was slowly caressing her swollen ankle.
"That's fine. It happens a lot to me," saying that, Selena looked at her Auntie.
"Can you help me please," she said casually as if she didn't mean the word 'please.'
Nonchalantly, Daniella came closer and sat next to Alejandro. She examined and poke Selena's ankle and then turned her face to call her kids.
"Triplets, Louisa come here, I have something to show you," Selena rolled her eyes, suddenly wondering what does Daniella wants from her kids.
The triplets and Louisa stood behind their mother's back, not a word was said.
"Here," Daniella said pointing at her swollen ankle.
"This is what's going to happen when you are stupid."
The kids laughed, and when they looked at Selena's face, their smile faded.
"So, Leo Ethan don't get a stupid girlfriend who doesn't know how to wear heels and you two," Daniella turned to her two daughters and continued,
"Don't be stupid like her," Louisa nodded while Alexa shook her head.
"Mom, I think it is not stupid."
"Really? Why?" Daniella replied to Alexa.
"Because Alejandro carried her. It is a smart move, really," Alexa nodded, agreeing to her idea.
"Not really, if Alejandro likes her, he will carry her even her foot is not injured. Isn't that right Alejandro?" saying that Daniella's head turned to her side where Alejandro was settled.
Alejandro was speechless, so he just nodded as a reply.
"Oh my gosh!" Alexa exclaimed and then rushed towards Alejandro.
She squatted next to him, with her eyes swollen with shock, she said, "are you and Selena-" with excitement, Alexa covered her parted lips with her hand.
Then her eyes switched between Alejandro and Selena.
But all of her excitement disappeared when Selena threw a cushion at her.
"Shut up," Selena said with a faked irritation but her cheeks were slightly blushing.
"Oh! don't be shy. My dad allowed me to have a boyfriend. So, we can go on a double date, but you will have to pay for our date since my future boyfriend and I are still young and broke," after she said that, she turned to her father and saw his face dimming with anger.
"What's wrong, dad?" slowly her smile faded.
"I don't remember saying you can have a boyfriend," her father coldly said, causing for her lips to pout.
"But I washed the dishes," she slumped her feet, while her face wrinkled with disappointment.
"You're not getting a boyfriend Alexa, now watch your mother fix Selena's ankle because no one will carry you once your ankle swells," every word her father spoke was like a knife stabbing her heart.
Sulking, Alexa squatted next to her mother, her lips were mumbling something only she could understand.
Daniella just shook her head by the sight, then she blew in a sigh and asked her kid to watch her.
Just after some seconds, the living room was filled with Selena's scream. The way Daniella fixed her ankle has made her body tremble.
"Why is it more painful than before," she said with a broken voice, tears glistened her eyes.
"Because it's so swollen Selena. Give it five minutes and you and Alejandro can leave," Selena's eyebrows creased with confusion upon hearing it. Wondering what could Daniella mean.
"And where am I going?" she said, stopping Daniella from leaving by holding her wrist
"Aren't you going to visit James?" After an oh sound let out from Selena's lips, she turned to Alejandro – which now resting on the single sofa.
"We can do it another time," Alejandro replied. He just watched the whole family with amusement. The way they talked and argued has made him feel envy, the closeness of the family was quite unique.
"No, I already packed your bag, Selena. You are good to leave," Daniella said with a rush and the took one of Selena's wrist, she pulled her from the couch and pushed her towards the stairs.
"Go, and change your dress, Selena. You are leaving. Don't worry I have packed everything including your underwear," hearing that, Selena's face reddened. Her eyes swelling with embarrassment glared at her auntie but, Daniella responded with a teasing laugh.
