"What are you smiling for?"
By that question, Selena blinked and realized that Alexa had been staring at the marriage certificate in her hand. She paced out that she didn't notice her presence when she came into the room.
Quickly, anxiety reddened her face.
"What is that?"
Selena hid the paper behind and took a few steps back, biting her lips so nervously.
Alexa was simply confused about how her cousin was acting. She saw the marriage certificate but she didn't read enough to know to whom it was for.
"Is that my mom and dad's marriage certificate?"
Selena nodded while her tongue numbed and mind panicked. When she realized that Alexa hadn't read the paper completely, her heart calmed down.
"I just want to know when is their wedding anniversary so I could prepare a gift for them," she said in a nervous tone while the smile on her lips looked so fake.
