Chapter 110 - Invisible String

Back at the café.

It was almost midnight when the door in Alexa's room was opened. Her eyes squinted as she got up to look at the door.

She pouted to see Selena coming in like a lifeless doll.

"Hi, how's dinner?" She asked, jumped down from her bed and sat on Selena's bed.

"It was great, my stomach and mind almost explode" Selena replied in a robot tone.

Selena sat next to her cousin, stretched both legs to the floor while her hands lay on the bed supporting her body.

She took in a deep sigh; feet were hurting from walking.

Killian tried to run after her but she asked him to leave her alone, so she ended up walking until she found a taxi.

Her feet hurt but it was nothing compared to the pain she has in her heart, twice.

Her heart has been broken twice and that thought has made her scoff.

She got up, opened her closet and took the liquor that Killian gave at their first meeting

"Are you ok?" Alexa asked voice was full of concern.

Selena shook her head, lifted the bottle in the air and stared at the liquid inside.

"I got played Alexa,' she murmured, her eyes were staring flatly at the white wall.

"What happened?"

She let out a shaky breath, shook the liquor vigorously, not minding the confusion building on Alexa's face.

She could still hear all the sweet words she heard from Killian. All the good moments she spent with him had turned into painful memories like knives cutting her already broken heart.

Her mins felt the bitterness of the pain but her numb body could not feel anything except the excruciating pain of being used, the tears she has been holding finally streamed down and she cried silently.

"They were just using me. Killian just used me to get revenge to his brother!"

She shut her eyes, and the painful memories flashed in her mind, she wanted them to go away, wished that it's just a nightmare and that she would wake up in a five-year-old her.

She wanted to go back and be the small Selena with her parents by her sides both laying on her bed and reading her books.

The peaceful time, no pain of losing her mother, no pain from heartache. She wanted to go back in time and be on the bed, be the little innocent girl she once was.

But it's impossible, today she will sleep with pain in her heart and face tomorrow's daylight with the same pain she slept with, she didn't have a choice but to leave and break up with Killian.

That would be fair, given that she didn't give Alejandro a chance.

And finally, she can rest her heart from all the family drama.

"Do you love Killian?" Alexa asked.

Her question, that was all it took for the tears to burst Selena's dam of restraint.

She wished to put all her love for him in the garbage can and forget or better yet, buried it in the core of the earth.

Her eyes already red and puffy from crying flickered to push down the remaining tears she had.

Her head swung to look at her cousin, "what happened to you yesterday?" She suddenly asked.

Alexa blinked; she was expecting more but she didn't want to cause more pain to Selena by reminding her of it.

She shrugged and said, "My first kiss is gone," she lamented, eye darkened as she remembered the scene.

"Oh!" Selena clicked her tongue, "Don't worry you will get more," she sighed, "and more, and more, and more until that stupid freakish playboy piece of asshole breaks your heart" her voice broke down just like the tears in her eyes.

Thinking that she got played, Selena could not help but cry, even more, she got up, paced around with the bottle in her hand.

"You, stupid Killian," she sniffed and walked towards the window, opened it a bit and threw all the liquid in the bottle after she opened it.

"Don't show your face here again," she yelled, "or I am going to steal your fucking kidney and sell it to the black market," after she emptied the bottle, Selena slammed the window close and sat on the floor, she leaned her back against the wall to support her trembling body.

She breathed out almost all the air in her lungs before she got up, her feet paced around the room, her mind has been thinking about her situation.

Meanwhile, Alexa started to feel dizzy from watching Selena pacing around like she's having diarrhea. She slid her body up on the bed and stretched both legs on the soft mattress of Selena's bed.

Her eyes shifted from looking at her broken-hearted cousin to the ceiling, stared at the warm white lights until her sight blurred.

She blinked by the irritation she felt in her eyes, as she does that, she heard her cousin mumbling something about a baby.

"What do you mean by he used you for revenge?" she said after hearing all the blabbering coming out of Selena's mouth, "I don't think that's the case."

When Alexa had finally gotten her sight back, she blew out a sigh and looked at the window

Since she had gotten to know Killian, the man always sneaks into their room almost every night. He mostly just stared at Selena or even sleep next to her but her cousin was always sleeping like a log that she didn't notice or felt Killian next to her.

Her hearts felt an indescribable emptiness knowing that she might not see Killian again. Of all the people she'd known, Killian was the only person who gave her advice about boys, saying she should not rush.

She once again looked at her cousin, Selena was sitting on the floor next to her small desk with both palms on her cheek, supporting her face.

"Selena," Alexa called out her cousin's name.

When Selena looked at her with a troubling face, Alexa gave her a faint smile.

"Don't you remember?" she asked her cousin, head bobbed a little in perplexity.

"Remember what?"

"Killian saved you long before you and Alejandro were together," Alexa got up, stretched her hands and started to climb up to her bed, "I remember that you stayed with him after that incident. What did you guys talk about?"

Those words have made Selena think about the night Killian slept in their house since the beginning he did really try to get his way into her life even before she knew Alejandro.

Little by little, the worry on her chest disappeared, and her eyes which were full of pain and bitterness sparkled for a moment upon remembering the word Louisa had told her the day after Killian stayed at their house overnight.

"He likes my toys and he likes you."
