After boarding the flight to Melbourne, Haemin took out his phone to once again look at the article that shook him enough to make him rush to Australia.
'Renè Pièrce has uploaded a voice recording of the incident at the Le Caprice that resulted in the French Conglomerate, Blaise Vallotton's death. As per the court's orders after investigation, Luna Piérce, the youngest of the Piérce household was arrested and sent to juvenile for five years with charges of third degree murder.
It was also discovered that Luna Pièrce had appealed to the court as not guilty at first and requested Ella Somervelle, now famously known as the singer ELLA, to testify to her innocence. But Ella had denied her presence at the scene. However this recording clearly states otherwise and now Brienne Pièrce who owns 30% of the Pièrce empire stocks is pushing for a re-investigation regardless of the fact that Luna Pièrce already served her sentence. And just hours later, the court requested for miss Ella to be brought in for an interrogation.'
Haemin closed his eyes with a sigh, he was helping the wrong person all along. He should've asked Ella what her traumatic past actually was, he was so focused on just being the hero that he didn't pay attention to who he was saving.
He went straight to Ella's apartment and found it locked, so he waited for hours in the lobby till she returned.
Ella stopped for a second to look at him, she looked like a mess. She continued her hurried pursuit seconds later and Haemin followed her into the elevator. "Ella, what is this?"
"None of your bussiness." She gritted as her bottom lip quivered and helpless tears fell from her eyes.
"None of my business?! My girlfriend lied in court and let a person who saved her go to jail! And that person is my friend now, how is this none of my business?"
"I was fifteen!" She shot back and exited the elevator as it opened to her penthouse.
"And she was thirteen!" He boomed, "If you didnt do anything then, what about later? When she was still imprisoned, did it not bother you?"
She cried harder as she opened and closed drawers, searching for something, "It did, you know it did."
"It didn't bother you enough, you should've done something about it. You should have come clean."
"Then I would've lost everything Iv worked for, my career would've been ruined."
As she scurried around the apartment looking for whatever it was that she was looking for, her attitude angered Haemin even more.
He picked up a vase and threw it on the ground, making her jump and getting her full attention.
"How can you be so selfish? How could you live happily as she was barred, did you.. did you even ask for her forgiveness? Did you tell her that you were sorry?"
She didn't reply and stared at the broken glass on the floor.
"You should've at least pretended to be sorry."
She scoffed emptily, "Why? Does it make you feel guilty for helping me?"
He clenched his jaw, "Yes." He answered lowly, with his blazing eyes boring into hers, "I regret every second I spent on a pathetic human being like you." He wanted every word of his to hurt her, to perhaps make up for his guilt. If he felt bad then she definitely should've, ten times more because it was all her fault.
For a few long seconds her breath left her as she looked back at him, Haemin was the one person she knew would always be there for her and maybe he still would've if he hadn't come to know Luna.
Luna.
The though of her made a red hot tremor pass through her body and she again continued searching the cupboards and her bags without responding to Haemin.
Once she found it, she picked up her purse and started for the door again, but not before Haemin could see that it was her passport.
"You're running away?" He said incredulously while coming to stand in front of her.
"Move." She stared at his chest.
"At least do something now, let her name be cleared!"
"I said move. It has already ended, what's a reinvestigation gonna do? That man is dead, Luna is out of prison."
"Who's gonna pay for all the mental damage she was caused? Huh?"
"I said get out of my fucking way." She screamed at him.
He looked at her through hooded eyes, filled with disappointment, "No."
"What?"
He grabbed her wrist and started dragging her towards her room, "You need to realize about what would have happened, had Luna not saved you."
She struggled against his grip, grabbing onto the furniture and failing, "Let me go."
"You don't feel bad enough about what you did."
As they got to the room, he threw her on the bed. She held in her breath in fear as she stared at the loathe in his eyes as he towered in front of her, giving her horrid flashbacks.
He stepped back and left the room, not looking again at her again. He pushed the lock from the inside and then closed it as he got out, locking her in.
She realized a bit too late about what was happening and rushed to the door, pounding on it, "Haemin, open the door. Please I have to go, they'll be here any minute."
He went and sat on the couch in the living room, with his head hanging low.
"They'll take me, Haemin. What will I tell them?"
"The truth." He shouted back.
"How will I tell them?! I lied in court."
"Committed perjury." He corrected her, "But you were a minor and a minor's perjury is often taken lightly, however you are an adult now and still haven't apologized to the victim plus Luna's grandma is pressurizing the court so you might get some community service after all. That being said, I checked online and the internet doesn't really like you at the moment, the image that you so dearly tried to protect has been tarnished after all. And tell me Ella, wouldn't it have been better to have just testified then? People would have called you a survivor, sympathized with you, helped you. Now you're a heartless person who let her savior go to jail."
She didn't reply to that and both of them stayed in their places, dealing with their shares of shame.
And when the policemen came to take in Ella for interrogation, she had changed into new clothes and actually looked ready to go.
She looked back at Haemin but he turned away as they took her.
