Chapter 1 - 50000 Years later

Hanxia is a small village with less than 3000 occupants. It is a very close-knitted community. Everyone knew about the legendary Golden Dragon Clan leader, Lord Weijun. Legends said that he defeated the Demon King and sealed his spiritual power. No one saw the Lord in person, only stories told by many people. Not only that, they also heard about the rumour that Lord Weijun had a lover but she tragically passed away. To this day, no one knew the truth of what happened to the lover.

It was another normal day time walking around the villages. Lingling stopped by a stand and saw a lady selling hairpins. She bought her favorite color hairpin, blue color with butterfly decors.

"Young miss, you look gorgeous in it. It is also a very popular choice among young ladies like you." The middle-aged lady smiled and Lingling gave her the money and bought the hairclip. As she was walking along the road, a middle-aged man suddenly fainted.

Lingling hurried to his side and felt his pulse. He's still alive, she thought. Lingling saw another man in the crowd and pointed at him.

"Can you carry him to my father's clinic? It's only a few steps away." The man nodded and carried the man to the clinic.

The man who fainted was placed on the bed. Lingling ran to his father's medical room but he was no where to be found. Lingling thought for a while. She's been trained with her dad for a long time. She had seen numerous cases. She won't disappoint her father.

"Thank you for carrying him. I'll treat him now." The man looked confused, "You? Why isn't your father here? I heard he's a better doctor. Are you sure you can treat him?" The man looked at the young lady skeptically.

"Do you want me to put a needle inside you?" Lingling smirked as she picked up a needle from her father's medicine box. Lingling carefully looked at the man who fainted, he's still unconscious. Think, think, think, Lingling. What point resuscitate? Lingling finally remembered what her father taught. Ren Zhong. A point in the middle, below the nostril to resuscitate. There. She inserted the needle. As soon as she inserted, the man who fainted woke up. Lingling was relieved. Her father came just in time.

"Father... I... I'm sorry. I should've waited for you." She expected her father to be angry but he smiled, "Great job, my Lingling. You saved a person today. I'll take over. After I'm done writing the formula, grab the herbs." Lingling nodded. She was glad the man felt better. It could've been worse.

"Lingling. Here are the herbs you need to get." She nodded and quickly got the paper. She went into the herbal room and gotten all of the herbs that was written on the paper. She carefully packaged it and went out.

"Father, it's finished." Lingling gave the medicine package to her father.

"Mr. Liang, your qi and blood are deficient. This is your medicine package. Remember to drink it three times a day. Alright?" Mr. Liang nodded. Lingling was grateful to learn medicine from her father because she loved helping others. Lingling was proud to have a father like him. Her mother passed away when she was still a baby. She never met her face to face but she heard she was a beautiful lady.

When they were done, there were people outside lining up to see them.

"Looks like we will close late." Her father smiled at her daughter. Lingling smiled back, "Father, can I do the tongue and pulse for them? I really want to do it since you do it every time." Lingling begged her father. Mr. Mo, Lingling's father, pats her on the shoulder and nodded. He was proud of his daughter growing up so fast.

"Sure, let's see how much you remembered from past cases." Her father smiled. Lingling hugged her father, "Father, I want you to teach me more after all of this is done. Even though I am still young, I still have room for new knowledge." Mr. Mo nodded and kissed her daughter on her forehead, "Of course. I'll teach you more. Let's get to work first." Lingling nodded.

"Dr. Mo, there are lots people today. Your daughter was amazing today. She saved someone. I thought she was just a young girl who liked to create troubles." Ze Hai, one of the worker in the clinic, teased Lingling. Lingling ignored him even though they were of similar age, she treated him as an older brother.

"Ze Hai, if you tease me like that one more time, I am going to insert this needle in you." Lingling smiled. Ze Hai nervously laughed, "I'm going, I'm going." While holding up his hands. Lingling sighed and got back to work.

There were many patients but Lingling learnt lots from their tongue and pulse. Her father taught her how to feel for the pulse whether they were deep, forceful, or thin. She saw lots of different color and coating of the tongue while working with her father. She enjoyed helping her father and at the same time gaining more experiences.

It was already late and they finally closed the clinic for the day. Lingling helped cleaning up the clinic while her father was in his bedroom resting. While cleaning, she heard something dropped on the floor. It was a blue stone. Lingling was curious and kept the stone inside her pocket. She wondered why a blue stone was there. Did someone leave it there on purpose? She was too tired to think and went back to bed after cleaning. It feels good to be on the bed after a long day. She fell asleep quicker than she thought.

When morning came, she took out the blue stone and looked at it. The blue stone lighted up for a brief moment then it became normal again. Lingling rubbed her eyes. Was that a flash? A beam of light? She wanted to know more about the stone. What kind of power does the stone have? Why was the stone there in the first place? She placed the stone back into her bag while she prepared breakfast. She didn't tell her father since her father would think she was being crazy.

Lingling focused on her work and helped her father gathering the herbs and treating patients in the morning. Dr. Mo went to her daughter and gave her a list of herbs that needed to be picked up by the mountainside. Lingling nodded and waved goodbye to her father. She carried a big basket on her back and went out into the sun.

"Don't be late, Lingling. Come back for dinner. Did you bring extra food on the way?" Lingling nodded and smiled. She waved goodbye one last time and went out her way to the mountainside.
